We came here for our anniversary. And had great servers that were very friendly. There was plenty of room for us when we arrived at almost 9 PM on a Thursday night. I talked to the sushi person and she was very honest about what sushi was very fresh and which ones were just pretty fresh.We ended up ordering Tako-Yaki, spicy salmon roll, Big Eye Tuna sashimi (was the freshest and most $$), salmon nigiri, a few hand rolls and a wonderful broth-less thick Ramen bowl. The broth-less ramen was the real stand out for the evening. I highly recommend trying it as the noodles were coated in a unique thick, delicious broth with a soft boiled egg and yummy charshu pork. It is called Kama-tama Ramen and is $16 for a good sized bowl or $24 for a large bowl.One drawback, besides not having great sushi or much of a sushi selection, are the prices. We spent $115. for two folks sharing enough food to fill us and one tall can of Kirin - including tip.

It’s hard to imagine bad quality, tasteless rice in a contemporary Japanese restaurant, but they did manage to deliver tasteless rice.I ordered several rolls, including most popular ones and hand roles. Hand roles were just tubes of said rice rolled in dry nori with laughably small and unsavoury filling. It looked like they were rolled by a grandma who hasn’t tried a sushi hand roll before and went literally by its name.On positive note, the staff was super friendly and attentive. Beer was served in an ice chilled mug. Customers who ordered ramens seemed to enjoy their meals.But myself I came for sushi into a sushi joint & it was a culinary sad & tasteless experience all around.

They have a really small sushi menu. They got one of the rolls wrong on the protein and the server wasn’t attentive. There was a very sweet older lady who greeted us so for her warm welcome I’m giving 3 instead of 2 stars.

The food is always amazing—this time I had the Abu Udon and Shoyu Ramen, and both were absolutely delicious, as always. Cynthia and Phil were awesome—so kind, welcoming, and attentive. Their warm service really makes the experience extra special. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for great food and great people!
May 20 · Ha PhanWhen I'm missing Japan, Yataimura Maru is my go-to for authentic izakaya flavors, and the vibe is as close as you can get Stateside. All the food is delicious and the staff is friendly and attentive. So glad this place has survived the pandemic. (Are we still talking about that? 😅) Anyway, this place takes me back to Japan, 懐かしい!
