Uchibā Austin Reviews
Went for a wonderful happy hour and had the best experience! We did the omakase dinner for 2 and it was $90. Most of the dishes on the menu were nigiri or sashimi - if still very tasty. My favorite was the dessert that was just incredible for being an ice cream bar. I was blown away by this ice cream bar - the best flavor and crunch. We added the aged seabream and this was good but nothing too crazy.I highly recommend the omakase and the orange wine on HH!Can’t wait to come back!
Apr 22, 2025 · Matthew PJust wow! From start to finish we had an amazing dining experience. Delicious food and cocktails. Dessert was also phenomenal. We loved the service and our server, Natalie, was 10/10! So attentive, kind, and helpful with the menu and helped us order all the best items. Will be back very soon!
Apr 16, 2025 · CamilleWe had a Saturday night patio reservation — it was hot but breezy. Our hostess was warm, but our server gave off a less friendly vibe, which impacted the experience.Cocktails were a highlight: Island Heat was bold and balanced, while The Vibe leaned sweet but still enjoyable. The hirasuzuki crudo stood out thanks to the sweet drop pepper, and the yuka chips with edamame-jalapeño hummus were inventive and delicious. The spicy tuna makimono had a great crunch, and the Japanese uni with roe was the best bite of the night — so good we ordered it two more.Less impressive were the soft shell crab bao — the bun was tough — and the oysters, which were underwhelming. A service slip-up (a dish mistakenly brought, then taken back) could’ve been handled better.Overall, a mixed experience with some memorable flavors. Worth a visit, but service and execution could be more polished
May 18, 2025 · Jay TodayStopped in for sushi and loved every bite. Uchibā blends upscale dining with a relaxed bar atmosphere, and it works beautifully. The flavors were unique and fresh, and the service—as expected from a Uchi establishment—was impeccable. Top-tier customer care and quality all around.
Apr 23, 2025 · Cyril ButlerWe had an amazing dinner celebrating a special occasion at Uchiba. Per usual from the Uchi restaurant group, the quality of the raw fish was exceptional, I felt this was some of the highest quality sushi in Austin as a sushi connoisseur and native Austinite. My favorite appetizer was the Hama Chili. I really wish they had more maki roll options, they only have 5 rolls on the menu here and 2 of the rolls are NOT FISH. This is a crime IMO, as many people don’t want to do the sashimi and nigiri route.I loved the ambience, this restaurant feels way more modern and fun than Uchi. The music playing was great, lots of songs off my personal playlist and the chatter/volume of guests was not too loud at all.Service was excellent, our waitress was incredibly knowledgeable and sweet. She made sure our waters were topped off, didn’t miss any plates, acknowledged our special occasion with a free bite and made the whole evening run smoothly. The only thing I could call out is the pacing of the plates coming out was a little off and kinda funny, I noticed this is a problem at Uchi too no matter how many guests we dine with. “appetizers” came after maki rolls and sometimes someone was missing something to eat or wasn’t finished with their food and plates stacked up. Not a huge deal esp for the price point and level of casualness at Uchiba. Overall I can’t wait to return!
