Ariyoshi Reviews
This was such a nice visit. The food was delicious, and the service was excellent. We were given green tea to start, and then we ordered some starters afterward. We finished with our dinner plates. We ordered Chicken Katsu, Fry Fish, and Katsu Curry Chicken. Everything was amazing, and we will definitely be back!
Feb 26, 2025 · E. S.Our waiter was rude when I asked if the roll included in a combination was a spicy tuna roll. Said “I said tuna, if it’s spicy tuna I’ll say spicy tuna”. Didn’t order the combo. I order a special dragon roll $13.95 and a spider roll $7. There is NO FISH in multiple parts of the roll sent it back and it was the same.
Nov 15, 2024 · Kelly DunningClean looking place and great service. I ordered Gyoza and Chicken Katsu. If you've had authentic Katsu before, you'll be disappointed. Mine was burnt and served with a side of BBQ sauce..... What?! The rice was the best part. The breaded part was weird. Miso soup was good though. If I come back, I won't order anything Katsu.
Feb 24, 2025 · Ed QThe services were absolutely wonderful and the quality of the food was amazing for the price.
Apr 10, 2025 · J PAtmosphere & Exterior:Ariyoshi makes a strong first impression from the outside. With clean signage and those polished display ads, you walk in thinking you're about to drop $8.25–8.75 for a legit, simple Japanese meal. So far, so good—visuals set a solid expectation.Service & Menu Confusion:But once inside? The illusion cracks fast.Ask the waiter for something basic like “beef and rice,” and you’re hit with:> “Buckwheat or udon?”Zero alignment between the outside display and what’s actually being served. There’s no clear go-to comfort meal for someone who just wants protein + rice. No beef available? That’s a red flag, especially for a restaurant trying to look traditional and accessible.Menu Design:They’ve got a scattered approach—fish, pork, soba, udon—but no clear centerpiece. If you're not a sushi fan or into seafood, you're stuck assembling your own meal from random bits. That’s not how it should go.Flavor & Add-Ons:What saves them a bit? They offer red crushed pepper and black pepper—huge plus for spice loversFlavor profile leans light and classic—definitely authentic, but not filling for anyone over 100 poundsPortions are clearly calibrated for small Japanese eaters, not everyday NYC localsYou’ll need at least 2-3 plates to feel like you actually ate
