Good Food Quality (Despite Appearance): Despite potential first impressions from the exterior, the food quality inside is a highlight. Generous Portions: Portions are often described as substantial. A review mentioned getting "a bento box with chicken, which was more than enough food and quite a bit of rice," indicating good value in terms of quantity.
Friendly Service: The staff's demeanor is a positive highlight, with customers mentioning "Friendly service," which enhances the overall dining experience.
Convenient Bento Box Concept: The restaurant's core offering of bento boxes provides a convenient way to enjoy a variety of Japanese-inspired items in one meal, appealing to those who like diverse flavors in a single order.
However, some customer feedback also points to areas where experiences might vary or where expectations should be managed:
Unassuming Exterior: The phrase "Do not be fooled by the outer appearance" suggests that the restaurant's exterior may not be particularly inviting or indicative of the food quality inside. This is a common characteristic of quick-service eateries.
Inconsistent Noodle & Sauce Texture/Flavor: One review noted issues with specific items, stating that "The noodles were like sweet spaghetti noodles with little sauce" and that "The teriyaki sauce looked suspicious." This indicates potential variability in the preparation or quality of certain sauce and noodle dishes.
Mushy Rice: A concern was raised about the rice under the shrimp in a bento box being "mushy," suggesting inconsistency in rice preparation.
Basic Sushi Offerings: While sushi is available, the comment "Sushi was okay but we only had California rolls" implies that the sushi selection might be more basic or that the quality might be average compared to specialized sushi establishments.

Bento Boys Reviews
Me and my friend dined in for lunch and got hibachi steak with noodles and a shrimp tempura box. The noodles were like sweet spaghetti noodles with little sauce. The teriyaki sauce looked suspicious. The rice under the shrimp in the box was mushy. Sushi was okay but we only had California rolls.

Oct 18, 2021 · Richard CarrizalesI highly recommend Bento Boys! Our waiter was very polite, welcoming, and just all around great! There wasn’t a long wait for our sushi and the presentation of each roll was creative and fun! I have to say this was some of the best sushi I’ve had in Greenville!! I was so impressed and so glad we decided to give this place a try!! Can’t wait to go back again!! (Pictures show Atomic bomb roll and the Mama roll)
Mar 20, 2019 · Ilissa SkinnerBento Boys is basically Joy of Tokyo but local and better in every way. Like price, quality, quantity, service, etc. They're pretty goated for me takeout hibachi-wise. If you're gonna dine-in, get the bento instead, cause you're not gonna get that typical show. They actually have Japanese owners/workers, unlike half of the Japanese places around here, and their sushi is reasonably priced and made fresh. White sauce comes with every order and I guess for takeout they're handing out sporks now.The main gripe I have with them is that their sauces seemed to have gotten less thick since I've last been, though it remains the same flavor-wise. And it's often a pain in the caboose to get outta there if you gotta take a left.
Apr 14, 2022 · Khiem NguyenMy wife took me here for lunch today, it was my first time dining here and she promised me I'd love.... She didn't lie and Bento Boys don't disappoint! I had a traditional bento box (pictured) and my wife had the Mama roll, both of these dishes were "off the chain" delicious and great portion sizes! The staff is so pleasant as well as helpful to explain menu. PRICES ARE SUPER REASONABLE!!
