Chopstix Reviews
Great little spot for that Japanese comfort food craving. Priced right, great portions, friendly folks working and running the joint!
Apr 04, 2025 · Matthew GarciaNice local spot! I had the chicken teriyaki bento, chicken gyoza & a macaron ice cream sandwich. Really lovely people & food was great.
May 12, 2025 · Tommy KennardChopstix is the closest thing you’d get to a Japanese experience in San Diego. My favorite dish is the mabo/curry combo with chicken Katsu. The katsu is crispy and light. And the curry & mabo are both comfort and will put you to sleep. The dish is quite big, I usually can’t finish it especially since it comes with salad and miso. The vibe is that of a Japanese restaurant but much bigger in size. Everyone who works there is Japanese and I often find guests who are learning Japanese practice it there. The staff is friendly and sharp. The shop is a hidden gem in convoys incredible food district. I feel guilt sharing this because I want it to stay low-key but the respect has to be given for the incredible food.I visited Japan last year in November. Although the sites were amazing, the city was vibrant and the culture was so different and unique, the highlight of my trip was the food. I have to tell you guys the food in japan is incredible. The eggs are like nothing you’ve tasted. The meats are so tender and clean. And all the vegetables taste organic and home grown. And chopstix is the closest thing to it!
Apr 01, 2025 · Ivan ZoraAwesome little spot. Good sushi. Good Beer. An awesome selection of food that tastes great and good service! Fumi is an amazing waitress!
Dec 20, 2024 · D. B.This quaint little place serves a little bit of everything that you can find in a Japanese restaurant, and that is probably what makes it fall short. Usually when an establishment serves a lot of dishes, they tend to focus on quantity than quality. I ordered the spicy miso chanpon and it was just that. Mediocre at best. The broth itself tasted watered down. Not rich or in depth, it was only spicy. The noodles were decent at best, a little chewy, not al dente whatsoever. The vegetables were okay and provided a nice crunch to the otherwise boring bowl. The best thing about the place was the service. They were on top with making sure I was good and provided the check in a timely manner. Would I come here again? No. But it was not the worst place I have ever been.
