DOMODOMO New York Reviews
this place was great! definitely a good place to try omakase for the first time. you’ll get a good taster of different kinds of fish but also a lot of great staples. fun flavors too. so if you’re looking for a good first try this is amazing and it is good for your 100th time too, it’ll be good classic. the side orders are also great especially the cauliflower :) also the miso black cod goes CRAZYYY so goodpictured: cauliflower, sushi and rolls selection
May 25 · Rachel FrenkelThe domokaze menu is very delicious. Everything tastes super fresh and high quality. 1/2 of the dishes are fun, unique, and creative, while half are just high quality versions of staples. The dessert is really good. I loved both the tiramisu (which is actually ice cream??) and the sesame custard. The vibes are great. You can get a reservation week-of, but not day-of most of the time.VERY gluten-free friendly. There was one thing in a waffle cone, but otherwise it’s gluten free.If you’re going to order a la carte, I’d recommend 1) the eel hand roll, 2) the mushroom hand roll (trust), 3) the uni sushi, 4) the white fish sushi, 5) dessertMain downsides:- some of the super high quality sushi had large chunks of wasabi underneath, which really overwhelmed the taste of the fish. Honestly no clue why they did that.- the servers do a great job of explaining the dishes, but they speak very quietly and so we couldn’t really hear them.- I would say it’s slightly overpriced. After tax and tip, 2 ppl tasting menu came out to $250 USD. Was it $250…? Not sure. It was a birthday gift and I was so thrilled with it as a gift, but wouldn’t pay that myself.- the hand roll part of the tasting menu is super confusing. It’s only extra $ for certain options, not all options.
May 24 · Cassia AThe atmosphere and service was great, but I felt the sushi was a bit off. Not quite the quality I expected compare to other places, but everything else was great. My favorite was the black cod. The set isn’t too pricey as well. Overall, a fun experience and the cocktails were also great !
February 16 · William ChuEasily the best dining experience of my life!I am not a sushi person, so I ordered quick and easy fried chicken which was like a michelin level of korean fried chicken with a delectable soy glaze. The point here I want to make is that the sushi was so good that, knowing the price, my party had to order seconds of the oysters and Uni.As I said in the beginning, although I am not a sushi person, the presentation of the food, the flavor of the food, the atmosphere, the knowledge and care of the wait staff, and more made this easily my favorite dining experience of all time!
January 23 · DaveWent there yesterday for the first time after friend recommendation and wasn’t disappointed! Starting with very friendly service by Clyde and Jamo, who made sure we had nice experience and helped a lot with choosing best dishes, finishing with nice and cozy atmosphere filled with candles and tuned lights. The food was delicious! Tuna ice cream was to die for so as all the hand rolls we ordered. My husband is vegan and also was very satisfied with his hand rolls and delicious cauliflower, we left feeling like we definitely want to come back🫶🏻
