Galaxy Hot Pot and Sushi Reviews
I would like to start this review by shouting out my amazing waitress Angie, she was amazing and was by far the most attentive and polite server I came across in the restaurant.Onto the food, I had issues with my miso soup, the first bowl I got was barely warm and tasted almost purely of vinegar and the seaweed was still completely dehydrated. Angie did replace my bowl and the second one was hot and the seaweed issue was fixed but it still tasted of vinegar. I was not able to eat either of them unfortunately.I got my nigiri the salmon nigiri was small and the fish was not super flavorful, the salmon’s texture was great though. The eel nigiri was small and pretty unremarkable and the shrimp was great the shrimp was perfectly cooked. The rainbow roll was a little disappointing because the fish was thin but over all it was a decent roll, the cucumber was proportional to the rest of the filling which I appreciated. The same could not be said about the dragon roll. The cucumber ratio was ridiculous 95% cucumber and 5% eel. Lastly the angry roll which was the best roll, proportional and flavorful, I wished I’d order a second one of these instead of the dragon roll because it was by far the best and is what I would recommend.Angie was very attentive and was on top of things. She deserves a promotion or something because she was hustling!I didn’t try the hotpot but that seemed to be the most popular thing so if you like hotpot and sushi maybe choose to center your meal on the hot potAlmost all the special rolls have cream cheese which is an interesting choice. As someone who doesn’t like cream cheese in their rolls this limited my optionsOverall I do not think I would come back here which is a shame because it has a cool aesthetic.
Mar 24, 2025 · KelseyFantastic hot pot place finally in the north suburbs. Our server was awesome and so many great options. I love the AYCE brisket, scallops, mushrooms and veggies. We went for lunch and chose the dinner option. More variety at a reasonable cost!
Jan 31, 2025 · Jim SerirukCheap restaurant, low quality food, and bad service. Triple threat, ladies and gentlemen. They are soooo stingy on the meat. I had to tell the waiter to bring me pieces that were bigger than my thumb. He brought back larger pieces, but they were all so fatty! The flavor options for the broth were bad. I wish they had miso. The service was so off! Asked for two diet cokes but never got it til the VERY end. Asked for certain sushi rolls and had to ask again why they were taking so long to come out. Mind you the restaurant was empty! The server was clueless. The options were super limited on the lunch menu it’s a joke. They practically force you to get the dinner menu and you certainly don’t get the value for your money, as the meat they serve is low quality and stingy. This place managed to do everything wrong. Want good hot pot? Go to Shabu-You.
Jan 07, 2025 · M ZOur first visit was very impressive. We went for “early” dinner and beat most of the true dinner rush, which was smart because they began to get packed quick (which is awesome because I want them around a while). My partner and I both ordered from the hot pot menu as well as the sushi menu. My sushi arrived quickly and was decorated very cutely with some sliced cucumber for my sashimi and some small REAL flowers which took me by surprise in a good way! My partner has a sesame/peanut/tree nut allergy and our waitress did everything to make sure we steered clear of not safe items which she pointed out for us which was nice!We got the Tom Yum broth and the mushroom. Both broths were incredible in depth of flavor. The ramen noodles and veggies became aromatic but also absorbed so much flavor. Every bite was something new but as we cooked our meats and fish in the broths, they developed even better flavor so in hindsight, cook your noodles last! The buffet for ingredients and sauce making was kept chilled and super clean, we saw someone come organize it twice while we were there which made me feel so reassured that there wasn’t any cross contamination.Overall, the bathrooms and our electric stove at our table were sparkling clean which gave me such peace of mind. The quality of the sushi and the meat/fish for hot pot was incredible. We will be back!
Apr 23, 2025 · Julie KaczmarekI don’t usually leave reviews, but this experience deserves some feedback. It was my first time at this restaurant, and while the staff was polite, the service was clearly impacted by how busy and understaffed they were. We waited an hour and a half for sushi, and other tables nearby experienced similar delays.I ordered the Szechuan Broth, which I’ve enjoyed at other hot pot restaurants, but this version was disappointing. The amount of Sichuan peppercorns was overwhelming, making the broth overly numbing and inedible. It wasn’t a matter of spice tolerance—it was simply excessive. My friend’s Mushroom Broth was fine, but the Szechuan Broth left me feeling sick and later throwing up that night. The sauce and veggie bar was compact but adequate. While the waitress was courteous and did her best under the circumstances, the overall experience was disappointing. I would recommend avoiding the Szechuan Broth and hope the restaurant makes adjustments. I would suggest visiting when the restaurant is less busy to see if it improves.
