Many local patrons consider Genki their top choice for AYCE Japanese food, with some even traveling over an hour just to dine here. This speaks volumes about the consistent freshness of their ingredients, particularly their sushi and yellowtail, which are frequently highlighted by satisfied customers. Beyond the raw fish, the menu extends to delectable tempura, gyoza, fried rice, bao buns, and a host of other kitchen items, making it a perfect spot even for those who might be hesitant about sushi.
Genki Japanese Cuisine is celebrated not only for its extensive offerings but also for its efficient service and the overall enjoyable dining environment. While the service might occasionally be described as "mid" by some in terms of direct interaction, the speed and freshness of the food delivery often outweigh this minor point. The incredible price point for an all-inclusive feast truly sets Genki apart as a prime destination for Japanese food lovers in Connecticut.

This breadth ensures everyone finds something they love.
- Fresh and High-Quality Fish: Despite being an AYCE establishment, customers consistently praise the freshness of the fish, particularly highlighting the yellowtail as exceptionally fresh. The fish-to-rice ratio in their sushi is also noted as being good for an AYCE spot.
- Fast Food Service: Even during busy times, the food is noted for coming out quickly and fresh, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable dining experience.
- Accommodating for "Picky Eaters": With the wide range of kitchen items, Genki is a fantastic choice for families or groups with diverse preferences, including those who may not enjoy sushi. Options like fried rice, gyoza, and various tempura dishes cater to all tastes.
- Fair Policy on Food Waste: While some AYCE establishments strictly enforce charges for uneaten food, Genki is noted for being understanding with small amounts of leftovers, though customers are still advised to order responsibly.
- Robotic Server (Occasional): Some patrons have reported seeing a robotic server delivering food, adding a unique, futuristic, and fun element to the dining experience, especially for families.
The primary and most significant promotion at Genki Japanese Cuisine for Connecticut residents is their All-You-Can-Eat (AYCE) pricing model. This offering itself is a substantial value proposition, allowing customers to enjoy an extensive selection of the menu for a fixed price.
- AYCE Lunch Special: Historically priced around $21.99, this offers an unbeatable deal for a comprehensive Japanese lunch experience.
- AYCE Dinner Pricing: Typically ranging from $30 to $35.99, the dinner AYCE extends the offerings and allows for a more leisurely and extensive meal.
It is always advisable for customers to directly confirm current pricing and any specific terms and conditions associated with the AYCE offering, as these can be subject to change. Genki Japanese Cuisine Reviews
For the price I would say this is a great deal and the menu has a lot of options if you don’t eat sushi. My favorite by far was the tempura - it always came out fresh. The yellow tail was also the best fish in my opinion very fresh! For an ayce place the fish to rice ratio is not bad. We did have some leftover sushi because we may have ordered too much and they did not charge us for waste, but it was not that much so be warned. The service was mid to be honest. The food came out fast and fresh, but the server was not super helpful when it came to remembering our drinks and answering any questions we had. I would go again.
Mar 27, 2025 · Samantha “Sammie” AmbroseWant ALL-You-Can-Eat sushi at an unbelievable price? Then Genki is the place for you!! All the specialty rolls are absolutely delicious and fresh. They also have a little bit of everything for the picky eaters in your family. Gyoza, fried rice, bao buns, etc. They truly have something for everyone and their prices are unbeatable for the quality of food you get. $21.99 for the AYCE lunch. You can barely get 3 rolls anywhere for that price. My family and I have been here three times in the last 6months in spite of the fact that we live over an hour away.
Mar 11, 2025 · Estefania PerezFirst time coming here and my fiancé and I had a great experience! All of the rolls were so good and fresh! It does get busy around dinner time but the service was quick and efficient. The location itself is a little tight but still roomy without feeling like you’re sitting on top of each other. Definitely will be coming back! :)
Mar 30, 2025 · Larissa byrdHad to make the short trip to this place after seeing it on social media. Definitely lived up to expectations on multiple fronts. The sushi was delicious and fresh. My favorite, I forget the name, but it had spicy tuna with seared Salmon on top. Sooo good. The kani salad was greeeeat. The spicy tuna pizza was different and was concerned it would taste weird but it was amazing. The shrimp tempura, gyozas and calamari were good, my only criticisms would probably be the Udon didn’t have any flavor. Atleast for my taste buds I felt it was a let down. The fried rice was flavorful though so it made up.Overall, I’d give this place a 4.5 but I’ll round up cuz I don’t wanna give it a 4. Will definitely be back. For $30 a person for dinner, this is well worth it!
Mar 01, 2025 · Gabriel Gonzalez (Gabe)Japanese traditional options including sushi, maki rolls, appetizers and sake in a very casual environment. Food and service were both very good. The place very busy on Friday evening, I would suggest making reservations if possible.
