Gyu-Kaku Japanese BBQ Reviews
I’ve been coming to this restaurant for over 8 years, and I’ve never experienced something as disappointing as our visit on Mother’s Day.We were told the wait would be 30 minutes, but we waited 50—despite seeing several empty tables and guests leaving. Only when my boyfriend asked did they seat us.There were two Mother’s Day menus, but we were only given the most expensive one. We had to specifically ask for the other, which felt misleading from the start. Our server Angie was inattentive, distracted, and unprofessional. She never once asked if we were okay, never offered extras, never asked if we wanted another drink or dessert, and overall showed no interest in making our experience enjoyable. Honestly, we didn’t even feel like we had a server she wasn’t there to guide, recommend, or enhance the experience in any way. A waitress who doesn’t engage or try to sell anything doesn’t belong on the floor. We ordered beer and sake, and both times she failed to bring a glass for the beer. The first time we had to ask; the second time, she simply brought us the empty beer bottle with no glasses or cleanup. She never followed up after the sake ran out or offered another round. And to make matters worse, the sake cups were dirty they had particles inside, and I had to clean them myself using a napkin. Completely unacceptable. She also forgot part of our order. If we hadn’t reminded her, it would have never arrived. There was no apology, and our table remained cluttered and messy the entire time. Even for dessert, she didn’t clean the area or clear dishes. The worst part was how aggressively she pushed for us to pay. While we were still eating dessert, she came to our table about five times asking if we were ready to pay, without any courtesy or subtlety. The moment we said yes, she interrupted again to hand us the bill, completely cutting into our time together. It felt like she just wanted us out. There was no “take your time” or “enjoy your dessert.” Just pressure to close the check. On top of it all, the tip was automatically added after taxes, which is unacceptable, especially considering the poor service. She knew her gratuity was guaranteed and made no effort to earn it.The only good thing was the busboys, who were kind and actually helped us more than our server. They were the only ones who responded when we needed something. After many years of coming here, I left feeling frustrated and unwelcome. Management needs to seriously rethink their staff training and focus on customer experience. A special day like Mother’s Day turned into a huge disappointment.
May 12, 2025 · Maria GonzalezThe food is fantastic, but the service takes it to another level. If you're lucky enough to have Cecilia as your server, you're in for a treat. She's kind, funny, and has excellent tableside manners—she truly makes the dining experience memorable
Apr 09, 2025 · Linnett MolinaThis is a great experience. Something fun to do with a group. If you are going with a group is highly recommended to reserve a table in advance. We were 9 people, no reservation on a weekend and had to wait for anout an hour to get the table.Once inside, the restaurant is bigger that what I expected, had to turn twice walking to get to our table. They have 3 all you can ear options with the cheapest one been $58 per person, and if you are in a group and want any of these options, everyone in the table has to get the same all you can eat, can’t have a mix of choices unless everyone does a la carte. The explanation on how it works was a little confusing at the beginning, cause you have 90 minutes once they bring the first dish, but they can only bring two items from the all you can eat at a time for you to cook.Prices for the drinks were normal for a restaurant, $14-$16 for cocktails, the strawberry margarita was actually pretty good. The food itself was very tasty. The pork gyozas and spring rolls were delicious. The meats were very well marinated, tender, and a lot of variety on the items you can choose.Overall a great way to spend a night with friends!
