Haru Sushi & Izakaya Introduce
For Californians seeking an authentic and high-quality Japanese dining experience, particularly one that combines the precision of sushi with the convivial atmosphere of an Izakaya, Haru Sushi & Izakaya stands out as a true "hidden gem" in Los Angeles. Nestled on Hollywood Boulevard, this establishment has garnered a reputation for its commitment to fresh ingredients, flavorful dishes, and a welcoming ambiance that keeps locals coming back for more.
An Izakaya, for those unfamiliar, is a type of informal Japanese bar that serves alcoholic drinks and snacks. It's often compared to a gastropub or tapas bar, where the emphasis is on sharing a variety of small, delicious plates alongside beverages. Haru Sushi & Izakaya perfectly embodies this concept, offering a diverse menu that allows diners to explore a wide range of traditional and modern Japanese flavors, from expertly crafted sushi and sashimi to popular Izakaya staples.
What truly sets Haru Sushi & Izakaya apart is its dedication to "extremely high quality fish" and its authentic approach to Japanese cuisine. Many patrons praise it as their favorite late-night spot, not just in Hollywood, but across all of Los Angeles, largely thanks to its appealing late-night happy hour. This combination of top-tier ingredients, a varied menu, and a great atmosphere makes Haru Sushi & Izakaya a must-visit for anyone in California looking to savor genuine Japanese culinary delights in a relaxed setting. Whether you're a sushi aficionado or new to the Izakaya experience, Haru promises a flavorful journey that will leave a lasting impression.
Strategically located at 5259 Hollywood Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90027, USA, Haru Sushi & Izakaya boasts a prime spot in one of Los Angeles' most dynamic and culturally rich areas. Its position on Hollywood Boulevard places it right in the heart of the action, making it incredibly accessible for Californians residing in or visiting surrounding neighborhoods like Thai Town, Los Feliz, and East Hollywood.
The restaurant's location is a significant advantage for locals, as Hollywood Boulevard is a major thoroughfare served by various public transportation options. Bus stops are abundant along the street, and the Vermont/Sunset Metro B Line (Red Line) station is within reasonable walking distance, offering convenient access for those using Los Angeles' public transit system.
For diners arriving by car, the situation can be typical for popular L.A. spots: "finding street parking can be really difficult." While the restaurant itself doesn't offer dedicated on-site parking, there are often metered street parking spots in the vicinity, though these can be competitive, especially during peak hours. Additionally, various paid parking lots and garages are usually available within a few blocks. Utilizing ride-sharing services like Uber or Lyft is also a popular and often recommended option for a hassle-free arrival, particularly for those planning to enjoy the Izakaya's beverage offerings. Despite potential parking challenges, the allure of Haru Sushi & Izakaya's offerings makes the journey worthwhile for many.

Apr 19, 2025 · Peter BonamiciAs you can see from the photo, we ordered quite a lot of food. Overall, the dishes were flavorful without being overly salty, which I appreciated. However, the portions were on the smaller side, and the size of the meat and other items felt a bit modest. I usually order edamame as an appetizer, but they were out of stock that day, so I tried the seasoned peppers instead—and they were delicious. The restaurant doesn’t have a lot of seating, so if you catch it at the right time, you can be seated right away. Otherwise, there might be a bit of a wait. One thing to note: for those who prefer not to valet (myself included), finding street parking can be really difficult.
Apr 08, 2025 · Sasha MAmazing food and great presentation. The sunny roll was absolutely delicious. Highly recommended. We also got the sashimi combo 2 and it was an amazing assortment of fish.We also tried some of the bbq skewers. The a5 waguy was worth every penny. The chiceken thigh was also delicious.
Mar 02, 2025 · Amin SalekWith everything being so pricey these days, we’ve been cutting back on eating out. But when we do, we want it to feel like a special treat. That’s exactly what happened on our Friday night date at Haru—we were blown away by our choices and left feeling like we’d hit the jackpot! It was some of the best sushi I’ve had in a while, and surprisingly, it didn’t cost a fortune. The quality and service were outstanding. The sushi chef who served us was incredibly friendly and passionate about his craft, checking in regularly to make sure we were enjoying our meal. I used to order uni on every occasion, but now I save it for special moments. This was definitely the right time—Haru’s chef let us try both options, and while the Japanese variety was arguably better than the Santa Barbara uni, there’s something to be said for consistency. Honestly, I’d happily take both any day.The chirashi bowl was mouthwatering, packed with fresh, delicious fish—a fantastic choice, especially since we almost went with the sashimi combo. We’ll definitely be back. 5 out of 5 stars all the way!
Feb 01, 2025 · Natalie TranIt was my first time going to a sushi bar alone and the chefs and servers at Haru made me feel welcome with their delicious food and great service. Japanese hiphop blasting in the restaurant was a plus. Every piece of seafood tasted fresh and their A5 wagyu skewers melted in my mouth. Parking is valet. Can’t wait to go back!
