Hatsuzakura Reviews
A pretty Japanese restaurant quietly tucked away from the daily hustle and bustle. The moment you come in, you can instantly feel the relaxed atmosphere and are attended by diligent servers. The cute pink decor, lighting, delicious food, and workers set up everything for a nice time out!We got yakisoba and a creamy pasta, which both had delicious sauces. We also tried the Earl Gray Lavender latte and Cherry Blossom latte. Both drinks were fragrant and yummy!
May 26 · Vanessa MuñosI recently visited this quaint Japanese restaurant and had a wonderful experience. The Hojicha latte was a standout—since my recent trip to Japan, I had struggled to find a good one in San Diego, but this was perfect. It had a rich, earthy flavor with just the right amount of sweetness.I also ordered the Japanese curry, which came in a very generous portion—so be sure to come hungry! While I couldn’t finish mine, I appreciated its mild and comforting flavor, making it an excellent choice for first-time curry eaters. The owner, Sakura, was incredibly welcoming and attentive. She took great care in speaking with her customers, sharing stories with a warm and cheerful demeanor.Unfortunately, I was too full to try the desserts this time, but I’ll definitely be back to sample them on my next visit!
March 18 · Rubi Resendezsuch a great spot! they have a special right now for 50% off wine or $3 beer. it’s a small, super cute japanese place with a cozy, welcoming vibe. the food was absolutely delicious. everything tasted fresh and flavorful. the service was so friendly and attentive. definitely a new favorite for a casual, authentic meal!
May 05 · Jessica RobinsonCame here on a Saturday evening after a day in Balboa Park with some friends. None of us had been there before. We were seated immediately, despite it being very near to the dinner hour and a decent crowd inside. (We got the last open table for a while.)Our server was very friendly, happy to answer any questions and make suggestions. We got the yakisoba, curry, and omurice. All were good. The omurice, in particular, was good, although the beef pieces were fatty/chewy, which isn't my preference, but was quite authentic!
May 06 · Kristen ReadReally cute, small restaurant. The iced matcha latte is my favorite. The okinawan brown sugar milk tea was also good, but I preferred the matcha. We also tried the chicken karaage which was fresh, crispy, not too salty, and it came with a side of mayo (they offer extra mayo to go if you can’t finish your food also). The chilled udon (didn’t get a picture) was another favorite of ours. The noodles and broth were refreshing and the texture of the noodles was not too firm or soft! The meat was slightly warm and very tender! I specifically came back a second time to try the wafu parfait because I was too full the first time we came to the restaurant and it was delicious! The curry was simple, but comforting and so was the omurice. We also tried the okinawa brown sugar hot tea (not pictured) which we shared and it was so flavorful and smelled wonderful! Definitely coming back here again. Everyone who served us was so sweet and kind!
