Ichiban Reviews
My first time here, greeted with a smile, and escorted to our table by the owner Masako. Our server was very polite when taking our order. Food came out and it was delicious. Great proportion! I had the 3 entree: teriyaki chicken, California rolls, and gyoza. I’m ready to come back!
April 12 · Jen HaugerJapanese owned, Japanese operated. Been here over 35 years.. full Japanese menu and great sushi. Skip the crappy fly by night and chains and get the real thing.
May 27 · James BatemanHere's the thing. I have never been here, yet grew up in Brea. Lived here for the last 15+ years and had visited a few of the businesses and the coffee shop right next door. The hours are odd only 5-8PM, so very limited and most likely the reason I never been. But let me tell you. HOW HAVE I BEEN MISSING OUT!This is a quaint little sushi restaurant, very locals only. The people who work there knew almost everyone that came in. First name basis, almost like family. Sushi chef was an absolute king. Wonderful man!Sushi was fresh and delicious. The blue fin toro was certainly affordable, $8 a piece is actually really great. Compared to other sushi spots, this was just the right price. From their sashimi, to sushi rolls, and even Ichiban nachos (crispy wonton chips with spice tuna) we're all reasonably priced and good portions. Definitely my fav spot for sushi in Brea now!The vibes were immaculate as they say. Loved it!
January 18 · Jasmine T (Jasmine)One of the best restaurants I’ve been to- service, atmosphere, food all 10/10. It is a real warm and welcoming mom and pop type of place- complete with pictures by the host stand of the owners’ family members. There was an older gentleman who sat us and I mentioned it was our first time there and he went and told- I believe his wife- the owner Masako who then came out and greeted us, thanked us for coming in, etc. Then the food was AMAZING.We had the appetizer sampler, crunchy roll, chicken teriyaki and then my husband got the curry rice but added serranos to make it spicy and everything was to die for. It’s also priced reasonably for how big everything was. We were checked on often- but not too often- and the interactions with the owners felt very genuine. It also seemed as though they most of the customers were regulars and Masako chatted with the family behind us, engaging with their little girl as well.Masako spoke with us after eating to make sure we liked everything and also asked us about ourselves as I mentioned that I grew up in Brea just around the corner from the restaurant, but hadn’t seen it before. She even brought us some free dessert. We will absolutely be coming back. It’s now one of my favorite restaurants and definitely one of the best in Brea.
December 28 · Mikayla TetreaultA large menu with a lot of variety. You can sit at the sushi bar or get a table. Our favorite is the 3 item combo dinner for around $15. You pick 3 entrees and it also comes with salad and rice and miso soup. Their tempura is always a good choice. The owner usually walks around to make sure his guests are satisfied.
