Life changing meal. This is probably the best meal I've ever had in New York City.The food was truly incredible. Every course, I couldn't believe my taste buds. I have eaten so much in my life, so many different cuisines and preparations. Every course was something mind blowing and new. Every. Single. Course. The meal never let up my mind just kept being blown.The atmosphere is beautiful. One of my favorite interiors for a Japanese restaurant. Good music at a good volume with proper attention to details. I was obsessed with their napkins lol. The woman who does the floral arrangements is also a hostess. So awesome.The staff is so alive and well. It starts on the patio with their warm, airy milk bread with a serene prelude to what follows. Then you step inside their amazing dining room, where Chef Rafal Maslankiewicz takes you on a beautifully composed journey. An exquisitely designed meal from start to finish. What truly sets Ikigai apart is its main purpose. This is a nonprofit restaurant supports the fight against food insecurity with every meal. All proceeds go to rescuing surplus food and getting it to people who need it. This dinner quite literally helps feed others while feeding yourself. It’s more than a meal. It is a reason for being!

Clearly everything is thought out from beginning to end, with precision and almost no moments where it drops the ball. The progression is a hit 8/10. The sake selection is extraordinary. Overall Definitely a place to recommend and one I would gladly go back to, to see what story the new menu brings.
