While ikigai generally positions itself as a premium Japanese dining experience, it offers specific menu structures that provide value and a curated experience for its patrons in Los Angeles.
Omakase Selections: The omakase offerings (10pc and 12pc nigiri sets) can be considered a special promotion in themselves. By entrusting the chef, diners receive a personalized selection of the freshest and often most unique fish available, providing a comprehensive and high-value tasting experience that is often more economical than ordering comparable pieces à la carte. For instance, the 10pc omakase for $65.00 or the 12pc for $80.00 (or premium for $120.00) represent a structured way to experience a wide array of premium offerings.
Sashimi and Nigiri Sets: Beyond omakase, ikigai offers predefined Sashimi Sets (e.g., 9pc or 12pc of Hamachi, Maguro, Salmon sashimi) and Nigiri Sets (e.g., a 6pc assortment of tuna, salmon, hamachi, madai, scallop with a negitoro handroll). As a restaurant focused on a refined dining experience, ikigai's "promotions" are often integrated into their menu structure, emphasizing the quality and curated nature of their offerings rather than overt discounts. Apr 04, 2025 · Moe AlyThe sushi rolls were OK. The sunomono was just raw cucumber with sesame seeds sprinkled over, no vinegar. The rice was a little stale for some of the sushi rolls.Found the service to be very inattentive. People would just randomly set dishes down in a hurry and leave right away, no explanation to what they were serving us. They forgot the cucumber salad and unceremoniously gave it to us after they brought us the rolls. No one checked in on us.
Mar 03, 2025 · J LZooming down Colorado Blvd., you wouldn’t realize this gem sits right smack near the corner of Colorado and Eagle Rock. Its neon sign is warm and inviting and its service is great (they made great recommendations). Met a gf here for a dinner to catch up and we loved every minute! I ordered the triple delight, negihama 6pc roll (yellowtail), and negitoro 6pc roll (toro). None of the rolls missed! The triple delight was wrapped with soy paper and it really helped bring out the flavors of the fish — salmon, tuna, yellowtail. I was really sad that it was only a 5pc roll. Their service was quick and fish were fresh! Nothing disappointed! To top our dinner off, we were recommended the dessert menu and everything on it sounds amazing! We went with the match cake! It was so rich. So dense. I literally couldn’t even find the words to describe it when I took the first bite (shout out to my friend, Kaia, for the vocabulary help). We were so pleased with our meal I am already craving to go back! I took a triple delight roll home for my fiancé and he absolutely loved it too! 100/100 Ikigai! So looking forward to my next visit!
