Ima Izakaya Reviews
was pretty good! we got the robata grill sampler plate, hand roll sushi, spicy pork tonkotsu ramen, and the octopus wasabi. my favorite was the robata grill, each skewer were very delicious and had a perfect amount of grill on it. the ramen was not bad, i really liked the texture of the noodles but i felt that the broth was bland, not that much umami/meaty flavor. the hamachi scallion hand roll sushi was also okay, it had a unique yuzu punch to it. the octo wasabi was also okay, it would taste great as a side dish with some rice.
Apr 30, 2025 路 haileyAmazing! Didn't get pics of lamb dumplings because we devoured them. So delicious. Will be back on the regularThe enclosed patio was nice. The inside of the restaurant was gorgeous too
Apr 28, 2025 路 Nichole ClarkQuite good quality Japanese food and service. Good atmosphere and clean. Friendly staff. Only one thing I don't like was they added 3% service change on a bill besides the tip. This is not only this restaurant, but I personally don't like now many restaurants charges certain % on the bill automatically... Seems very popular restaurant in the restaurant and recommend to make a reservation before going. Overall, I like this restaurant and recommend people who likes Japanese food.
May 04, 2025 路 Yoshi KuronumaOkay... Their Pork Tonkotsu Ramen is out of this world. Dined here 3/27/25. The broth is incredibly rich and flavorful and the smoked pork belly has the tastiest smoky char. It melts in your mouth like none other pork belly I've ever had. Incredibly delicious. My only critique (mainly from my partner) is the egg, if it's supposed to be a marinated soy sauce egg, it could use more time. It's basically just a pale soft boil egg otherwise. But it's almost forgiveable because everything else is drenched in so much flavor, I could see why you'd want to back it off here with the plainer egg. The broth and the pork belly are definitely the stars of this dish. One of the best ramen I've had the pleasure of eating in Michigan. Not to be overlooked are the drinks. My partner got the Midori Colada, according to him, it was bomb. And I wanted to keep it light and go for the mocktail and got the Purple Monsoon. 馃挏 Absolutely delicious. I really appreciate it when effort is put into the mocktail, visually the drinks are both stunning. I can appreciate the presentation and little accoutrements. The only other place that offers mocktails of a similar high grade comes from Max's South Seas Hideaway.Next time we're in Detroit and in the mood for ramen, this'll be one of our top picks. We also had a few items from their Happy Hour Robata Grill Skewers. The Dry-Aged Ribeye, Chicken & Scallion, and Tsukune Meatball. The Chicken & Scallion was very underwhelming and our least favorite, pretty bland and dry. Wouldn't recommend. The other two were delicious however, particularly the Dry-Aged Ribeye. I'd also swap the Tsukune Meatball for the Smoked Pork Belly next time knowing how delicious it is in the ramen!Seating is very tight on the benches, the 2-person tables could be spread farther apart and less packed... But I get it, you want to utilize as many butts in seats as possible, but it was not great getting in and out without having your bum in someone's face especially if you're still wearing winter coats. Hardly anywhere to place or hang a bag and coat. Probably less of an issue as the weather warms.
Apr 07, 2025 路 OddersLet me just say that my initial thoughts weren't good, the seating is not great for two people. Tables for two are really close to each other which made the experience less intimate and awkward. With all that said, when the food arrived we're excited to taste and man was it good. The food and drinks were so delicious we were in our own little bubble of joy. We completely forgot how close we we're with the tables next to it. We we're in heaven. Our favorite dish was the Pork Tonkotsu Ramen, the flavors we're on point and visually look stunning. Probably the best pork belly I've ever had on a Ramen dish.I would definitely recommend Ima but just note the seating for two people is not the best. But like I said, once the food arrives you'll forget everything around you .
