Izakaya BIZAN Introduce
For many Californians, the culinary landscape offers an endless array of choices, with Japanese cuisine standing out as a perennial favorite. From the delicate artistry of sushi to the comforting warmth of ramen and the savory satisfaction of yakitori, Japanese food has carved a significant niche in the Golden State's dining scene. In the bustling heart of Los Angeles, particularly within the culturally rich enclave of Little Tokyo, numerous establishments vie for the attention of discerning diners. Among these is Izakaya BIZAN, a restaurant that aims to bring a taste of Japan to local patrons. This article will provide a clear, engaging, and informative overview of Izakaya BIZAN, helping users in California understand what this establishment offers.
Izakaya BIZAN positions itself as a Japanese dining spot, with a notable emphasis on yakitori, a popular style of skewered and grilled items. An izakaya, in Japanese culture, is a type of informal Japanese bar that serves alcoholic drinks and snacks, often compared to a pub. While this establishment does offer a range of traditional izakaya fare, its presence within a shopping mall suggests a slightly more casual and accessible approach to this dining concept. For locals navigating the diverse food options in downtown Los Angeles, Izakaya BIZAN provides a potentially convenient stop for a meal that diverges from the typical sushi-only experience, introducing them to the varied world of Japanese small plates and grilled delicacies.
Izakaya BIZAN is conveniently situated in the vibrant and historic Little Tokyo district of Los Angeles, a hub of Japanese culture and commerce. You can find them at:
333 S Alameda St #314, Los Angeles, CA 90013, USA
This address places the restaurant within a shopping mall, which typically offers certain advantages in terms of accessibility. Being part of a mall complex in Little Tokyo means it is often easily located for those already exploring the area's shops, cultural sites, and other eateries. Little Tokyo is well-served by public transportation, including the Metro Rail Gold Line (Little Tokyo/Arts District Station), making it a practical destination for those relying on public transit. For drivers, the surrounding area typically provides various paid parking lots and structures, which are common in dense urban centers like downtown Los Angeles. While street parking might be limited, the mall setting often implies dedicated parking facilities, enhancing convenience for visitors. Its prime spot within this cultural neighborhood makes it a readily accessible option for locals and tourists alike who are seeking Japanese cuisine.
Izakaya BIZAN aims to provide a comprehensive Japanese dining experience through various services:
Dine-In Service: The restaurant offers a full dine-in experience, allowing customers to enjoy their meals in the establishment's indoor setting. This is ideal for those looking to relax and savor their food and drinks.
Yakitori and Skewers: A core offering of Izakaya BIZAN, their menu prominently features a variety of yakitori (grilled skewers), including popular items like grilled ikayaki (squid) and other meat and vegetable options. This provides a traditional izakaya experience.
Sushi and Sashimi: Beyond yakitori, the restaurant also serves sushi and sashimi, catering to broader Japanese cuisine preferences. This allows diners to enjoy raw fish preparations alongside grilled items.
Alcoholic Beverages: As an izakaya, the establishment offers a selection of alcoholic beverages, which typically include sake, beer, and sometimes cocktails, designed to complement the food offerings.
Appetizers and Small Plates: In line with the izakaya concept, the menu likely includes various Japanese appetizers and small plates suitable for sharing or as accompaniments to drinks.
Lunch and Dinner: The restaurant serves both lunch and dinner, accommodating different dining schedules throughout the day.
Izakaya BIZAN possesses several features that may appeal to diners looking for a Japanese culinary experience in Los Angeles:
Popular Yakitori Selection: The restaurant is noted as a "popular yakitori spot," indicating a focus and potential expertise in preparing grilled skewers. The variety and consistency of their skewers, such as the grilled ikayaki, are highlighted by patrons who enjoy them.
Consistent Experience: One recurring positive sentiment from a customer suggests that meals have been "enjoyable and consistent" across multiple visits. Consistency in quality is a highly valued trait for any restaurant, assuring patrons of a reliable dining experience.
Variety of Skewer Options: Patrons can expect a wide array of options when it comes to yakitori, allowing them to sample different meats, seafood, and vegetables prepared in this traditional Japanese grilling style. This variety contributes to a more comprehensive izakaya experience.
Location within a Shopping Mall: Being situated inside a shopping mall offers convenience, particularly for those already frequenting the mall for other activities. It provides an accessible dining option within a familiar and often sheltered environment.
Broad Japanese Menu: Beyond its yakitori focus, the inclusion of sushi and sashimi on the menu broadens its appeal, offering a more extensive selection of Japanese dishes to cater to diverse tastes. This allows for a more varied meal experience, combining different aspects of Japanese cuisine.

Izakaya BIZAN Reviews
Popular yakitori spot within a shopping mall. The skewers are well balanced with lots of options. Particularly enjoy their grilled ikayaki (squid). Been here on multiple occasions and meals has always been enjoyable and consistent.Highly recommend!
March 10 · Miss HDI spent about $500 on a meal at this restaurant today, and I’d like to speak specifically about the food.Although this place claims to serve Japanese cuisine, it doesn’t feel like an authentic Japanese restaurant at all. The food was overwhelmingly salty—clearly adjusted to suit American tastes rather than preserving true Japanese flavor. Almost every dish was so heavily salted that it was difficult to eat.One of the most shocking things was that already salty sausages were sprinkled with even more salt, making them inedible. All the skewers were excessively salty, and while I wanted to leave, I stayed only because I was with other guests. Eventually, even they couldn’t continue eating due to how salty everything was, and we left.We also ordered yellowtail and tuna sashimi, which the staff recommended. However, it smelled strongly fishy, as if it had started to spoil. It honestly felt like they were pushing that dish because it needed to be sold before going bad.We tried a variety of items, and with tip, the total came out to around $500. As someone who has lived in Osaka for 4 years and Tokyo for 2, I can confidently say this was a deeply disappointing experience. The food lacked authenticity, care, and quality.I genuinely regret spending that amount of money, and I’m seriously considering disputing the charge with my credit card company. It makes me wonder if anyone at this restaurant actually checks the taste of the food before serving it.
May 19 · Isaac JoeA very good izakaya restaurant in little Tokyo. Many skewers selections of any kind, also with good service. Had a good time here
February 22 · FonouvdiorWe come here from time to time, and we were most recently here for a family birthday dinner. The food is soooooo good and authentic. Literally, everything is good. Thanks for the wonderful food and accommodating service.
August 11 · Kelli MonkawaFood was pretty good. They serve high quality sashimi if you are willing to pay the premium. Great place to impress, but no longer as lively as it was before when it was still Honda Ya. I was there during lunch, so considering it's an Izakaya maybe it picks up at night.
