Its location on South Dale Mabry Highway is convenient for many, though it is noted that "limited parking space might be the only downside," suggesting that patrons might want to "come early to grab a spot in front of the restaurant." Despite this minor challenge, the restaurant's popularity, evidenced by being "packed on just a regular evening," speaks volumes about its appeal.
### Environment and Ambiance
The environment at Izakaya Tori is a key element of its charm, designed to transport diners directly to Japan. Although the "restaurant is on the small side," the "decor really makes you think you stepped into a small hole in the wall in Japan!" This meticulous attention to detail in its interior design creates an authentic and immersive atmosphere. It's a place where the ambiance is as much a part of the experience as the food itself, providing a cozy and intimate setting that fosters a genuine connection to Japanese culture. Despite its potentially small size, the atmosphere is consistently praised as "Great Atmosphere," suggesting a comfortable and enjoyable dining space.
### Services Offered
Izakaya Tori is highly lauded for its exceptional service, which complements its authentic culinary offerings. Customers consistently praise the staff for being "very nice and polite" and providing "Great service." A notable feature is the speed of service; one reviewer highlighted, "From ordering to receiving the dishes, our food came out within about 10 minutes or less. We ordered about 6 dishes in 2 rounds but only spent an hour dining in." This efficiency is a significant advantage, particularly for those seeking a quality meal without a long wait. The attentive nature of the waiters ensures that diners feel well-cared for throughout their visit.
While the primary experience is dine-in, as it allows patrons to fully appreciate the ambiance and the freshness of the dishes, it is highly probable that Izakaya Tori also offers takeout services, a common practice for restaurants of this caliber. Given its popularity and the mention of being "packed," arriving early or considering off-peak hours might be beneficial to secure a table, though the rapid service helps manage table turnover efficiently. Within the "Doctor Near Me" context, the quick and friendly service makes Izakaya Tori a reliable and convenient option for satisfying dining needs.

The overall sentiment regarding the food is overwhelmingly positive, with reviewers praising the "Great food" and expressing eagerness to "definitely coming back here to try out other dishes😋." This indicates a high level of satisfaction and a diverse menu that encourages repeat visits for exploration. The focus on freshness for sushi and hot-off-the-grill perfection for skewers underscores a dedication to culinary excellence that resonates with discerning diners.

Izakaya Tori Reviews
The restaurant is on the small side but the decor really makes you think you stepped into a small hole in the wall in japan! The takoyaki came out hot and flavorful and the sushi tasted so fresh! The meat skewers were hot off the grill and tasted amazing. My brother especially liked the eel! A little salty but would pair well with beer/alcohol!Lmited parking space might be the only downside! I'm new to the area, so unless there was a secret/or well known parking place I wasn't aware of than I would suggest coming early to grab a spot in front of the restaurant.
Apr 14, 2025 · Winter TaigaGreat food. Great service. Great Atmosphere. My wife and I went for dinner in a random evening. They were packed on just a regular evening. The food was unexpectedly super good. This is the type of Japanese food I’ve been looking for in Tampa. Our waiter was also very nice and polite. From ordering to receiving the dishes, our food came out within about 10 minutes or less. We ordered about 6 dishes in 2 rounds but only spent an hour dining in. We’re definitely coming back here to try out other dishes😋
Nov 19, 2024 · Ploy SithisakulratI’ve been wanting to try Izakaya Tori for a while now and I finally tried it for dinner.Atmosphere: Don’t let the outside of the building fool you, Izakaya Tori makes you feel like you’re in another world. It’s quaintly decorated on the inside. You can tell the focus is food and fast service when you arrive. The place has NO windows so don’t be shocked when you exit the building and are blinded by the sunlight going to your car.Parking: I usually don’t write about parking, but it’s definitely a good thing to know about for this restaurant. It’s located in a shopping mall with a SMALL parking lot, the earlier in the day you get there the easier it is to find parking. We were very lucky and found a spot right away, I saw people parking on the side street to eat here.Bathrooms: I didn’t visit them, but they looked like single stall bathrooms.Service: Our service was quick and tentative. Everyone was so nice and professional. I always love to ask the servers for their favorite dishes and were pleased with the recommendations.Food: The food was unique and good. For an appetizer, we tried their ‘Tako Yaki’ which was a dumpling filled with octopus. That was my favorite thing I ate the entire night. It was so good and flavorful. It was perfectly fried and didn’t feel greasy. We also tried the ‘Shiso Rangoon’ which was some sort of leaf stuffed with crab Rangoon and then fried. I was very confused by the dish and amazing you can stuff a leaf! It was good and definitely unique. For my entree, I tried their ‘Tonkotsu Ramen’ which was ok, it wasn’t as good as I’d hope. We were there at happy hour so they had some specials during that time. I’d love to come back and try their sushi, lots of their options were good.Overall, we enjoyed our food and will be back to try more of the menu. This place was busy and I can see why it’s been in Tampa for so long. TIP: on a Friday night arrive at 5/5:30 to avoid the rush of people!Instagram: living.with.reg
May 17, 2025 · Regina SIzakaya Tori was a delightful hidden gem in South Tampa. For starters, this is an excellent restaurant for sharing family style. The portions are a good size and it is the perfect place to try a little bit of everything. The seaweed salad was excellent- crispy, salty, and refreshing. The sushi was excellent, and the server was mindful of gluten allergies. They even have gluten free soy sauce for someone in our party with celiac! The Thai tea hit the spot as well. It is a cute spot perfect for a date night or dinner with a group!
Dec 18, 2024 · Sara CA very unique restaurant. We started with appetizers—edamame and sushi. Then we ordered a skewer dish, a meat entrée, and a shrimp dish, all of which were exceptionally delicious and distinctive.A wonderful meal overall. The service was excellent!!!
