James' Place Prime Seafood Sushi Introduce
james' place prime seafood sushi
For those residing in California, especially in the sophisticated coastal community of La Jolla, finding a dining experience that balances quality, ambiance, and convenience is key. James' Place Prime Seafood Sushi, nestled in the heart of La Jolla Village, offers a distinctive approach to casual fine dining. While its name suggests a strong emphasis on sushi, it operates as a broader Asian Fusion, Steak & Coastal Cuisine restaurant, particularly well-suited for those attending shows at the nearby La Jolla Playhouse. It's a place that aims to provide a relaxed yet refined setting for a memorable meal.
James' Place is designed to offer an innovative dining concept that caters to a diverse palate. With a focus on signature seafood and fresh fish selections, alongside Asian noodles, salads, and a variety of appetizers, the menu extends beyond traditional sushi offerings. The restaurant strives to create an atmosphere that is both modern and inviting, making it a pleasant spot for a pre-show dinner or a leisurely evening out. The team, carefully selected by James and GM Anthony Doll, is dedicated to providing a high-quality experience that encourages return visits.
It’s important for prospective diners to note that while "Sushi" is in the name, its availability, particularly on certain days, can vary. Reviews indicate that sushi might not always be offered on specific evenings, such as Thursdays, suggesting that the "Prime Seafood" and other Asian Fusion and Steak offerings are its more consistent and primary focus. This distinction is crucial for managing expectations and planning your visit accordingly, especially if sushi is your sole craving.
James' Place Prime Seafood Sushi is strategically located at 2910 La Jolla Village Dr, La Jolla, CA 92093, USA. Its position within La Jolla Village makes it highly accessible for local residents and visitors to the area. This address places it directly in the vicinity of the renowned La Jolla Playhouse, making it an exceptionally convenient choice for theatre-goers looking for a pre-show dinner.
The area typically offers various parking options, though, as with any popular La Jolla destination, it's advisable to factor in potential parking time, especially during peak hours or show nights. The restaurant's integration into the La Jolla Playhouse complex is a significant advantage, as it understands the timing demands of theatre schedules and can expedite food and drinks for those with show tickets. This prime location in a cultural hub enhances its appeal as a central dining spot in La Jolla.
Being on La Jolla Village Drive, a major thoroughfare, ensures that James' Place is easy to find and reach from different parts of La Jolla and surrounding San Diego communities. Its proximity to the University of California San Diego (UCSD) also adds to its accessibility, drawing a diverse clientele from both the local community and academic institutions.

It's important for potential diners to be aware of some feedback: the "Bunless Kobe Burger" has received a specific critique for its composition, being described as a patty with balsamic-drenched bell peppers and asparagus, which may not appeal to all. Also, sushi availability can vary, specifically noted as not being available on Thursdays in one review. Portion sizes for dinner entrees are noted as potentially small, and pricing is generally on the more expensive side.
Based on the provided information, James' Place Prime Seafood Sushi does not have specific daily or ongoing promotions like "happy hour" explicitly mentioned in the reviews. Their primary draw appears to be their casual fine dining experience, prime seafood, and convenience for La Jolla Playhouse attendees. The pricing is noted as being on the "expensive side," suggesting that value promotions are not a central part of their current public offerings. While they aim to offer a quality experience, specific discounts or special deals are not highlighted. It is always recommended to check their official website or call them directly for the most up-to-date information on any potential seasonal or limited-time offers they might have.

Prospective diners seeking only sushi should confirm its availability, particularly on specific days like Thursdays. While the prices are on the higher side and portion sizes for entrees can be small, this aligns with the expectations of a casual fine dining establishment in La Jolla, where quality ingredients and an upscale atmosphere are paramount.
In summary, James' Place Prime Seafood Sushi is ideal for La Jolla locals looking for a convenient, stylish, and high-quality dining option before a show, or for those desiring prime seafood and Asian fusion dishes in a refined setting. James' Place Prime Seafood Sushi Reviews
Food: 3/5Service: 3/5Atmosphere: 3/5Came here for a quick bite to eat on a Thursday. They do take reservations but if you walk in right at 5, when they open, you might get a table or you can sit at the bar.I sat at the bar and had a Moscow mule and the Bunless Kobe Burger (medium). It took about 20 mins for the food to come out and I had to ask the bartender “how much longer for my food?” Otherwise I don’t know when I would’ve eaten. The mule was good but the bunless Kobe burger didn’t sit right with me. It’s essentially a fancy way to say that you get a burger patty with asparagus and 2 slices of bell peppers drenched in balsamic vinegar with cheese. It wasn’t great but I was hungry. They also don’t have sushi available on Thursdays. The bartender was nice but seemed distracted. I had to keep grabbing his attention for things. The space is pretty and if you’re seeing a show at La Jolla Playhouse they’ll put a rush on your food and drinks.Sadly I won’t be back again but you can try this place for yourself just don’t get the bunless kobe burger.
March 28 · Monét ThibouIt has been a while since we ate dinner here. It is very convenient place to eat dinner before attending a show at the La Jolla Playhouse. Recommend making a reservation to make sure that you have enough time to make the show. The ambiance is nice and modern. We were a party of 4 and had a window seating. Our server was attentive and friendly. The food and drink prices are on the expensive side and dinner entrees are small portions. Food is good.
August 11 · Catherine HuntService is slow, food was slow. Bartender didn't know the menu and for 35 dollars you get a burger patty (no fries) on top of a mushroom with 2 pieces of sauteed peppers and 2 asparagas in a balsamic sauce. Such a waste of time and money, there needs to be more restaurants over there serving the play-goers because without competition, this place can charge astronomical prices and just be extremely mediocre. Never again
February 23 · DrewJames place was an unexpected surprise experience. Better in most ways than your average restaurant in La Jolla costing twice as much. I also have to say the bartenders here are a cut above! Great job.
July 07 · Mark CatoneThis is the restaurant next to the La Jolla Playhouse, and it *could* have a captive audience and not care about quality. But they do! The beef tenderloin filet had a beautiful brown crust with a melt-away interior that barely requires a knife, with a creme mushroom sauce demi glaze with complex flavors. The garlic rice had a hint of soy which accented the steak, and the broccoli and carrots had a wonderful and interesting flavor. Of course, we topped it off with crème brûlée.
