Why is Katsu Katsu a great choice for your next meal in New York? While one customer noted that our pork katsu might not be the "best by a stretch," others have found it to be "delicious" with great portions. The review that critiqued the pork as "too cooked" and the curry sauce as "too sweet" provides a personal perspective, but it is important to note that taste is subjective, and what one person finds too sweet, another may find to be a perfect, comforting flavor. The overall experience at Katsu Katsu is one of quick service, good value, and satisfying comfort food. We are a reliable spot for a hearty and flavorful meal without the long wait times often associated with sit-down restaurants in the city. Our menu's variety, from the classic Katsu Sets to our sushi rolls and donburi bowls, ensures that you can always find a meal that hits the spot. The convenience of our location and the option for a quick bite make us a great choice for lunch or dinner. Katsu Katsu Reviews
Don’t be fooled by the pre 2023 Michelin endorsements. This is not the best katsu by a stretch. To be fair, it’s not bad, but:1. Pork is too cooked, and thus not tender.2. The coating is not as crunchy as you would expect.3. The curry sauce is too sweet and it does not resemble your typical Japanese curry.Again, this is not too bad, but look for your katsu curry fix elsewhere.
April 17 · Sergio FantinDelicious! Got there right at 11:00am when they opened, and food was ready in 15 minutes. Pork katsu was great with solid portions.
March 05 · David Negroni haven’t tried their katsu but they make excellent poke bowls. The flavors of each ingredient goes well together, very tasty and filling.
May 09 · lsqI went for a stroll to find some lunch. My initial notion was to find a slice of pizza near my hotel off of Water Street. Instead, I wandered into the food hall down the street from the hotel and found Katsu Katsu. The owner was there and she answered all of my questions. She modified my meal to suit my food allergy and also made sure that her staff was very meticulous in their preparation of my meal.I know that food courts/halls don’t always have the best reputations however, this place is really a hidden gem as others have said here on yelp. I agree with the one review that said why would you try sushi when the place was Michelin recommended for Katsu. However, part of me just wants to prove them wrong and go back and try it.First , the pork Katsu. Very flavorful crunchy (even though I brought it back to my hotel) and a delicious sauce on top.Next to the rice: soft, not hard and flavorful for white rice. Finally, the veggies were: extremely tasty, but a bit spicy for me personally. I am a whimp when it comes to spicy food, for those who can tolerate medium without tasting it you won’t even know. The vegetables were very very fresh!Just because the owner was so nice she earned that extra star, a five star rating from me. Trust me many places are excellent, but usually get one or two details wrong. Not this place! If you’re in the mood for Katsu and you’re on water Street or in the area stop, and you will not be disappointed!
November 04 · Sean BeegI was expecting a Japanese Katsu curry, but wasn't it at all. It is tasty in a way like south asian sour and sweet curry, but did not go well with Katsu in my opinion. How did they get Michelin signs ?
