Excellent food! Chef Huang was engaging and made everything with precision. Stop here while visiting Dumbo if you’re craving a fancy but affordable dinner. The sushi is high quality but pretty inventive.

They also served a unique sake I hadn’t tried before, and it was absolutely delicious.However, the service wasn't ideal. We began our omakase experience (a party of two), but after our second piece, a group of four was seated next to us. While they were served their first and second pieces, we only received our third. Then, we waited 15 minutes or so before getting our fourth piece—clearly so the chef could serve us all at the same time. While I understand it might have been more efficient for the kitchen, the long wait during the third piece and the pause for the fourth was noticeable and disrupted the flow of the meal, especially given that omakase is served one piece at a time.To make matters worse, we were rushed out at the end with the explanation that another party needed our seats. If they were on a tight schedule, they shouldn't have slowed down the servings to match with the other party. They also shouldn't have offered us additional à la carte options or asked if we wanted another drink. Pausing our service to sync us with a larger party, only to then hurry us out, felt contradictory and inconsiderate. It was disappointing to have such an excellent meal bookended by service issues.

With the volumes of people who hang out in this neighborhood, there’s a strange scarcity of tasteful upscale dining and Japanese options but now there’s both in Kinjo. We had the Omakase menu then cocktails at the bar. The cost was shockingly affordable for the omakase meal. 👌👌👌 vibes

My favorite was their ochazuke, which is a rare offering in NYC.The service was great and so was the vibe. The sushi by is tucked away within a bar so it’s cozy and got a speakeasy feel to it.We’ll come back to try their bar menu!
