Koji Express Japanese Grill - Memorial, situated at 1010 Memorial Blvd in Murfreesboro, TN, presents itself as a Japanese fast-casual dining option for the local community. Operating within the "Doctor Near Me" platform category, which highlights readily accessible local services and goods, this establishment aims to provide quick and convenient Japanese-inspired meals. It is important to note that this specific location has received some varied customer feedback, which will be incorporated into this objective introduction.
As a "Japanese Grill" with "Express" in its name, Koji Express Japanese Grill - Memorial is likely designed for efficiency and speed, catering to customers looking for a quick meal. Fast-casual restaurants typically feature a streamlined ordering process, often with counter service and a more functional, rather than elaborate, dining area. While specific details about the decor or seating capacity are not provided in the reviews, the nature of an "express grill" suggests a clean, well-lit, and practical environment suitable for a fast turnaround. The focus is generally on delivering meals efficiently, making the ambiance secondary to convenience. Customer interactions mentioned in reviews primarily revolve around the service at the order window, implying a strong emphasis on takeout and quick service, which is characteristic of this type of establishment.
Koji Express Japanese Grill - Memorial primarily offers takeout and quick service dining. Customers can place their orders at a counter or drive-thru window, as indicated by reviews mentioning interactions with staff at a "window." This focus on efficiency makes it a convenient option for those seeking a quick meal on the go. The restaurant can be contacted directly at (615) 907-9900 or +1 615-907-9900 for inquiries or to place orders. While the provided information does not explicitly state partnerships with third-party delivery services (like DoorDash or Uber Eats), many fast-casual establishments offer such options for customer convenience. However, direct pickup is clearly a primary service. It's crucial for potential customers to be aware of the restaurant's policies, particularly regarding food separation and order customization. One customer's experience highlighted a "company policy" that prevents staff from separating rice from the main order, leading to a required purchase of an additional side of rice if a customer desires un-sauced rice. This indicates a fixed approach to order preparation, which might be a consideration for those with specific dietary preferences or customization requests. Another review points to inconsistencies in order accuracy at this specific location, suggesting that customers should double-check their orders upon receipt, especially if placing complex or modified requests.
Koji Express Japanese Grill typically specializes in grilled Japanese-inspired dishes, often featuring a base of rice with various protein options. While a detailed menu is not provided, the "Number 11" mentioned by a customer suggests a numbered menu system, common in fast-casual eateries, implying a range of pre-defined combinations or entrees. Based on the name "Japanese Grill," common offerings would include:
Grilled Proteins: Such as chicken, steak, and possibly shrimp, cooked on a flat-top grill.
Rice: Typically steamed or fried rice, often served as the base for entrees. The customer review highlights that the rice is typically served "covered in sauce" with the main order, and separating it requires an additional purchase.
Vegetables: Often a mix of stir-fried vegetables like cabbage, carrots, and onions, served alongside the protein and rice.
Sauces: A key component of Japanese grill cuisine, these would likely include a savory "hibachi" or "teriyaki" style sauce, which is typically drizzled over the entire dish, including the rice.
Customer feedback indicates that the "quality of food" itself is generally acceptable. However, issues arise regarding order accuracy and customization. One customer explicitly states, "this location can never seem to get my order right," recommending a different Koji Express location instead. This suggests potential inconsistencies in fulfilling specific customer requests or accurately assembling orders, which is a significant factor for customer satisfaction. The policy regarding rice separation, where an additional side must be purchased to get un-sauced rice, is a point of contention for some customers, as it limits customization and adds to the cost. Therefore, while the core food might be consistent with Koji Express standards, the service and order fulfillment aspects at this specific Memorial Blvd location appear to be areas of concern for some patrons.
As a fast-casual establishment, Koji Express Japanese Grill - Memorial's promotional appeal is likely rooted in its speed, convenience, and generally affordable pricing for Japanese-inspired meals. The $23 cost for a "Number 11 and a side of rice" mentioned by a customer gives an indication of the price point for their entrees. While specific ongoing promotions or deals are not detailed in the provided information, fast-casual restaurants often rely on consistent pricing and value meals to attract customers. However, the customer feedback regarding being required to purchase an additional side of rice to achieve a desired customization, and the issues with order accuracy, could impact the perceived value for some individuals. The frustration expressed by a customer about spending "more than $30 on their food expecting it to be the way it was ordered and it being completely wrong" indicates that despite potentially competitive base pricing, unforeseen additional costs or incorrect orders can diminish the overall value proposition. Therefore, while Koji Express Japanese Grill - Memorial aims to offer a quick and accessible Japanese dining experience, potential customers should be mindful of the reported service policies and potential for order discrepancies at this particular location.

Koji Express Japanese Grill - Memorial Reviews
I eat at this place often and today I'm seriously annoyed by the level of service that I received. I paid $23 for a number 11 and a side of rice. I have no problem with the staff or the quality of food what I'm annoyed by is the fact that they would not separate my rice from my order they made me purchase an entire New order of rice.It was so annoying that the manager came to the window to clarify as if I didn't understand that I was purchasing a side of rice that I didn't want just so I could get fresh rice that wasn't covered in sauce. They told me it was company policy. That they're not allowed to separate the food from the rice. The fact that they wouldn't separate the rice for me that there's so many hungry that they made me purchase another side of rice for no reason this is why I will not be returning to any of these restaurants again
Apr 19, 2025 · Alex MenaI do not like this location at all. The other location gives me no problem, but this location can never seem to get my order right. I don’t think anyone would find it nice to spend more than $30 on their food expecting it to be the way it was ordered and it being completely wrong :( I recommend going to the 3230 location
May 18, 2025 · Angelina SanchezStill disappointing. They forgot my carrots. I paid $13 for a TON of rice , a handful of chicken and 5 pieces sliced mushrooms. This place used to be great. Been eating here since they opened. But it gone downhill the more they expand. Food quality is bad, cheaper ingredients, the containers are cheap. Food portions are smaller. I got a teriyaki chicken last night and it had peas corn and ONIONS in it. The onions overpowered everything and I ended up throwing it away because I couldnt pick through it all. I reached out and got zero response. Not what I paid for. Not what it used to be.
Oct 31, 2024 · Jessica RasmussenJoJo Express is a hidden gem in Murfreesboro. This was our first time here, but it won't be our last. The service was great, the food was excellent, and the prices are pretty decent by modern standards. The carrots and other veggies were amazing! The teriyaki beef was tender and delicious. I left satisfied and happy (but not broke). 10/10 would eat there again!
Mar 11, 2025 · Michael MilomReturned a lost item to Jordan, and decided to grab some food. Was suggested the chicken and steak and it was absolutely amazing. Was given sriracha and it was absolutely nostalgic! The restaurant was clean, everything was well maintained, and the staff were very friendly. I highly suggest Koji, and it’s good/ good friendly service. It is good to be back in-town as well!
