This restaurant, easily locatable through platforms like "Doctor Near Me" when seeking local services and businesses, offers a delightful blend of Japanese and Korean flavors, making it a unique and accessible spot for residents and visitors alike.
The "Doctor Near Me" category, while primarily associated with healthcare, can also serve as a broad search parameter for essential local services and goods. In this context, Ku Sushi and Izakaya, as a long-standing and well-regarded local eatery, provides a vital service: delicious and affordable dining options. For someone new to the area, or simply looking for a reliable and satisfying meal, a search on such a platform would quickly highlight Ku Sushi as a top choice for a casual yet quality dining experience.
Environment and Ambiance:
Ku Sushi and Izakaya offers a welcoming and unpretentious environment that has garnered a loyal following. While the interior has been described by some as having a "dark, bunker-like" architecture, potentially due to covered west-facing windows to mitigate afternoon sun, this contributes to a cozy and relaxed atmosphere rather than a formal one. It’s the kind of place where you can feel comfortable settling in for a casual meal, whether you're dining alone, with a few friends, or grabbing a quick bite. Customer reviews consistently highlight the friendly staff and quick service, which further enhances the comfortable and efficient dining experience. It's an ideal spot for a casual get-together, a post-class meal for students, or a laid-back dinner, rather than an intimate date night. The focus here is clearly on good food and efficient service in a relaxed setting.
Services and Offerings:
Ku Sushi and Izakaya excels in providing a diverse menu that caters to a wide range of tastes, combining traditional Japanese sushi and izakaya fare with popular Korean dishes. Their offerings extend beyond typical sushi rolls to include a variety of Japanese and Korean staples. The menu features a substantial selection of specialty rolls, nigiri, sashimi, and basic rolls, demonstrating a commitment to variety in their sushi offerings. Beyond sushi, patrons can indulge in hearty Korean dishes such as Grilled Porkbelly Kimchi, Japanese Curry Rice, Chicken Curry Katsu, and various preparations of Korean Fried Chicken (Yangnyum, Soy Garlic, Original, Sriracha). For those seeking warmth and comfort, there are also numerous soup and noodle options, including Spicy Tofu Soup, Kimchi Soup, Seafood Handmade Noodle Soup, and Korean Ramen. The menu also includes a range of appetizers such as Fried Gyoza, Tempura Shrimp, Chicken Kara-age, and even unique items like Spam Fries and Corn Cheese.
Ku Sushi and Izakaya offers both takeout and delivery services, making it a convenient option for those in the U-District and surrounding areas. This accessibility aligns perfectly with the "Doctor Near Me" platform category, as it caters to immediate local needs for sustenance and convenience. The restaurant accepts credit cards, further adding to the ease of transactions.
Features and Highlights:
One of the most striking features of Ku Sushi and Izakaya, frequently lauded by customers, is its exceptional value. Many reviews highlight the affordability of their generous portions, especially for their sushi rolls. The restaurant has a well-known reputation for offering significant discounts on sushi, often advertising 50% off rolls. While some online ordering platforms might list prices at full rate, the in-person value or specific promotions often make it an incredibly cost-effective option for quality sushi. This commitment to affordability, without compromising on taste, has solidified its status as a U-District staple. Customers consistently praise the freshness of the sushi and the overall quality of the food, especially considering the price point.
The fusion of Japanese and Korean cuisine is another distinctive feature, allowing patrons to explore a broader culinary landscape under one roof. Whether you're craving classic sushi, a comforting bowl of udon, or spicy Korean fried chicken, Ku Sushi and Izakaya provides a diverse array of options to satisfy different cravings. This versatility adds to its appeal as a go-to spot for groups with varied preferences.
Specific customer favorites include the 52nd Roll (Spicy tuna topped with salmon, seared with spicy mayo, tempura flaked and eel sauce), the University Way Roll (Jumbo shrimp, crab topped with seared salmon, avocado, masago, and eel sauce), and their flavorful miso soup. The takoyaki is also noted for being expertly cooked with a crispy exterior and creamy interior. The staff are frequently commended for their friendliness and the speed of service, contributing to a positive dining experience.
Promotional Information:
Ku Sushi and Izakaya is widely recognized for its consistent value, making it a promotion in itself. The often-advertised 50% off on sushi rolls is a significant draw, allowing diners to enjoy more for less. While specific daily specials beyond what is listed on online menus are not widely publicized, the inherent affordability of their menu serves as a continuous incentive for repeat visits. Customers often note that their usual orders, even with multiple specialty rolls and a regular roll, remain under $50 including a generous tip, which is exceptional for sushi in a city like Seattle.
For those looking for a quick and budget-friendly meal, Ku Sushi and Izakaya presents an excellent option. Their efficiency in service means that even during peak hours, orders are prepared swiftly, catering to a busy university crowd and locals on the go. The restaurant’s enduring presence in the U-District is a testament to its consistent quality, value, and customer satisfaction, making it a highly recommended spot for anyone seeking a fulfilling Japanese and Korean dining experience in Seattle.

Ku Sushi and Izakaya Reviews
Love this place! Friendly staff and quick service. I feel like it's a great value. My usual order is 3 specialty rolls, 1 regular roll and a miso soup. It's always under $50 including a 20% tip. Check this place out next time you're in the area.
Jan 07, 2025 · Holly MartinKu sushi has been here forever but remains a U-District staple for a reason. Their menu is diverse, pricing is affordable and most of all their sushi is great! An amazing spot to go with friends, not so intimate a spot for a date night.
May 05, 2025 · Raymond AbabaNice and quick customer service. The prices were okay even though it’s 50% of all rolls 24/7. I’d never go here if it wasn’t for that “deal”. Anyways the sushi was average. The California roll crab salad was okay. This place isn’t like Japonesa or momiji. Small place, about only 8 tables.
Jun 18, 2019 · Alex NguyenRolls are always 50% off !!! You definitely get what you pay for, especially for that deal, the quality is a bit less than average compared to other sushi places, but it’s still really good. Locally owned and the owner is a really nice korean woman :)
Feb 15, 2025 · Celine ChenThis place is great if you know what to get. I usually come with a small group and we order to share- some of the cheap rolls, which are not exceptional but ARE great value for cost and complement the following really well- tteokbokki (the spicy Korean rice cakes), optionally with ramen noodles- the pork belly with kimchi- fried chickenOf these the pork belly with kimchi is the most unique – I don't know of anywhere else in Seattle that does the particular chunky, crispy cuts that Ku does, and the kimchi is a great pairing. Everyone in my group who likes pork belly loves this one.tldr: yes, the menu is hit and miss, but if you take figure out your favorites, it's a great place to get a varied meal.
