Kura Revolving Sushi Bar offers a distinctive set of services centered around its unique revolving sushi concept and technological integration:
Revolving Sushi Belt Dining: The core of the experience involves a continuous conveyor belt circulating through the dining area, carrying various plates of sushi and other small dishes. Guests can simply pick plates that catch their eye directly from the belt, allowing for immediate gratification and visual selection.
Touchscreen Ordering for Custom Dishes: In addition to the revolving belt, each table is equipped with a touchscreen tablet. From this tablet, customers can order specific sushi rolls, side dishes, soups, noodles, and desserts that are not currently on the belt. These custom orders are then delivered directly to the table on a separate, express conveyor belt, ensuring freshness and accuracy.
Dine-in Experience: Kura Revolving Sushi Bar is primarily designed as a dine-in experience, emphasizing the interactive and engaging nature of its service model. It's often busy, especially during peak hours, but the wait line moves surprisingly fast, highlighting their efficient system.
Variety of Japanese Dishes: While sushi is the star, the menu is extensive and includes a wide range of other authentic Japanese offerings. This includes various types of nigiri, gunkan, hand rolls, ramen (like Shoyu, Miso, Tonkotsu, Tantanmen), udon, side dishes (such as Crispy Squid, Shrimp Tempura, Gyoza), and desserts (like Mochi Ice Cream and Taiyaki). They also offer seasonal and limited-time items.
"Bikkura Pon" Prize System: A unique and fun feature, guests earn a randomized prize from an overhead vending machine for every 15 empty sushi plates they insert into a plate return slot at their table. This gamified system adds an extra layer of excitement, especially for families and groups.
Mobile App & Waitlist Management: Kura Sushi offers a mobile app that allows customers to join the waitlist remotely, view live wait times, and get notifications when their table is ready. The app also features a rewards program and enables online ordering for pickup or delivery.
Takeout and Delivery: For customers who prefer to enjoy Kura's dishes at home, the Philadelphia location offers takeout and delivery services through their mobile app and popular third-party platforms like DoorDash and Uber Eats.
Kura Revolving Sushi Bar offers a distinctive set of features and highlights that make it a captivating dining destination in Philadelphia:
Interactive Revolving Sushi Belt: The core attraction is the patented dual-layer conveyor belt system. Plates of sushi glide by, allowing diners to pick what looks appealing in real-time. This "sushi highway" creates a dynamic and engaging atmosphere, making the meal itself part of the entertainment.
"Bikkura Pon" Prize Game: A unique gamified experience, where guests insert empty sushi plates into a slot at their table. For every 15 plates, a short animation plays on the touchscreen, and a small prize dispenses from an overhead machine. This is particularly popular with children and adds an element of fun and anticipation to the meal.
Technology-Driven Convenience: Beyond the revolving belt, touchscreens at each table allow for on-demand ordering of specific items not currently on the belt, which are then delivered swiftly on a separate express lane. This ensures food is always fresh and customized to individual preferences.
Fresh and Authentic Ingredients: Kura Sushi prides itself on its "muten" philosophy, meaning "nothing added." This commitment ensures that their food is prepared using fresh, high-quality ingredients, free of artificial sweeteners, seasonings, preservatives, and colorings. The patented "Mr. Fresh™" ventilated sushi lid on the revolving plates helps maintain freshness.
Diverse Menu Beyond Sushi: While known for sushi, Kura offers a comprehensive menu including various ramen options (Tonkotsu, Miso, Shoyu, Tantanmen), udon, hot side dishes like shrimp tempura and gyoza, and a selection of desserts. This variety caters to different tastes and appetites within a group.
Clean and Well-Maintained Environment: Customer reviews frequently commend the restaurant for its cleanliness and well-maintained facilities, contributing to a comfortable and pleasant dining experience.
Friendly and Efficient Service: Despite the high-tech setup, servers are noted for being friendly and helpful, especially in guiding new customers through the system. The overall service is efficient, even during busy periods.
Kura Revolving Sushi Bar frequently engages in various promotions and special offers, often tied to their interactive "Bikkura Pon" prize system and their loyalty program. For locals in Philadelphia, these can enhance the dining experience and offer added value.
Seasonal Bikkura Pon Collaborations: Kura Sushi regularly collaborates with popular anime series, characters (like Peanuts, One Piece, Demon Slayer, Hololive English, PAC-MAN™), or brands for limited-time Bikkura Pon prize collections. These collaborations offer exclusive, randomized prizes for every 15 sushi plates inserted, creating excitement for fans and collectors. These prizes are also often available for individual purchase.
Kura Sushi Rewards Program: By downloading the Kura Sushi mobile app and signing up for their rewards program, customers can earn points with every meal ($5 reward for every $50 spent, or 10 points for every $1). Kura Revolving Sushi Bar Reviews
We visited Kura Revolving Sushi Bar on a Friday during dinner time, and it was definitely busy, but the wait line moved surprisingly fast. The restaurant was clean and had a very interesting setup. It took us a few minutes to figure out how the food belt system worked, but once we got the hang of it, it was fun and unique! We tried sushi and some sushi wraps – the food was fresh and tasty, though the portions were small for the price. Overall, it’s a cool experience, but it can be a bit pricey. Worth a visit for the novelty!
Jan 12, 2025 · Olha BFun experience. I don't regret going but wouldn't go back. Server was super friendly and it was clean and well maintained. The sushi is ok, rice was kind of mushy. I got the shrimp tempura upon. It was two shrimp, some green onion and a watery broth. No way to customize or add anything. No vegetarian ramen options. I think they need to change the fryer oil, it seemed old tasting. Also, not a fan of the community ginger that is kept on the table open to each guest. Seems unsanitary.
Apr 21, 2025 · Victoria BurleighSuch a cool experience! There was a little robot that brought drinks a wide selection of sushi rotations and a few desserts. It was cool you could also do an order that would be sent on a separate belt. Definitely going again!
Jan 04, 2025 · Karla LopezI doordash it today and ordered Seared Salmon with salmon miso cream cheese- it arrived so messy. How they seared the salmon got too well done so it’s not as tender as I wanted and the miso cream it’s like a dot. It’s like they skimp the ingredients. It’s supposed to be seared nicely but nope it’s overcookedThe Salmon Toro- no wonder it’s but one get one free, the salmon cut like paper thin. The bbq Eel same thing it’s so very thinly sliceI had better sushi in the city even if I doordash it. It took me a long time to want to order from Kura and today the day I decided to order from doordash. Also the sushi rice is too cold it’s not room temperature.Sorry won’t ever order sushi in this place. One time is good for me.
Mar 27, 2025 · Chef Cherryl LemiThe Philadelphia Kura provides a very similar experience to what I had at the Kuras in Shibuya and Shinsekai. The menu might not be as extensive, but the sushi is tasty. The menu system and food delivery is also very similar. The only difference is the price... we had 33 plates in Japan for what we paid for 9 in the U.S. I guess it's to be expected. Otherwise, it was delicious and a fun time.
