Kuriya @ Cherrity Bar Introduce
For Texans in San Antonio who seek a dining experience that's as fulfilling for the soul as it is for the palate, Kuriya @ Cherrity Bar offers a truly special destination. Nestled on Montana Street, this isn't just a place to grab a meal; it's a unique concept where every delicious bite and refreshing sip directly contributes to the local community. As one happy customer eloquently put it, "I came here just expecting a meh ramen place, but when I sat down it was calming and quiet. The service was amazing. Most of the food here is locally sourced and I was shocked on how amazing the ramen and the handcrafted sodas were. I recommend this place. Amazing, genuinely." This sentiment perfectly captures the essence of Kuriya: a hidden gem that consistently exceeds expectations.
Kuriya, which is Japanese for "kitchen," is the culinary heart of The Cherrity Bar, an establishment renowned for its groundbreaking philanthropic model. Here, 100% of the profits are dedicated to various local charities, allowing diners to enjoy incredible Japanese comfort food while actively supporting their city. It’s a win-win that makes the experience even more meaningful. Guests are invited to participate in this mission, sometimes even casting votes to determine which charities receive the monthly proceeds, fostering a true sense of community engagement.
Beyond its noble mission, the food at Kuriya is genuinely exceptional. From "delicious" ramen like their Tonkotsu, praised for its well-seasoned broth and marinated mushrooms, to the "life-changing" fried shiitake mushrooms with spicy mayo and the "crispy pork," every dish is crafted with care and a commitment to flavor. The service, too, receives consistent accolades, with staff members like Juan being highlighted for their kindness, attentiveness, and helpful suggestions, even when faced with limited menu items. For Texans looking for a Japanese restaurant that delivers on taste, atmosphere, and a powerful sense of purpose, Kuriya @ Cherrity Bar stands out as a beacon of culinary excellence and community spirit.

Kuriya @ Cherrity Bar Reviews
I was in town for a work conference and wanted some ramen. This was located a short scooter ride from our hotel and is such a cute little place with a great mission supporting various charities. But THE FOOD was SO GOOD. The fried shitake mushrooms with the spicy mayo, the fried pork, the roasted edamame and the tonkatsu ramen were all delicious! Everything was seasoned super well and even the mushrooms in the ramen were marinated. Our server Juan was great! Even though they were out of certain menu items, he made alternative suggestions and was so kind. I may never make it back to San Antonio, but I’ll dream about the food at this place. 5 stars, no notes. Eat here!!!

February 11 · Indra PeñaIf you're in San Antonio, Kuriya at Cherrity Bar is a must-visit! The Japanese-infused food is absolutely phenomenal—every dish is bursting with flavor and creativity. But what truly makes this place special is the meaning behind it. The owner’s dedication to the community shines through in everything they do. Cherrity Bar supports local nonprofits every month and hosts a variety of events and markets, making it a hub for positive energy and connection. The space is incredibly family and pet-friendly, which is a huge bonus, and they offer happy hour every day on both drinks and appetizers. I also love how they support local artists—every other month, the art on the walls is carefully curated, showcasing the talent of San Antonio’s creative community. If you're looking for great food, a welcoming atmosphere, and a place that gives back, Kuriya at Cherrity Bar is the spot!
