Moshi Moshi Introduce
For those in California with a keen eye for quality and a love for authentic, yet unpretentious, Japanese cuisine, Moshi Moshi in San Francisco's Dogpatch neighborhood is a true local treasure. Praised by regulars as their "favorite ‘low key’ sushi spot in the 7x7," Moshi Moshi offers an inviting blend of high-quality ingredients, diverse menu options, and a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere. This isn't a place that shouts for attention; it quietly delivers excellence, making it a cherished secret for those in the know.
Since its establishment in 1987, Moshi Moshi, under the vision of longtime SF restaurateur Mitsuru Akashi, has evolved from an old-school teriyaki house into a unique Japanese-American restaurant. Mits's focus has been less on strict authenticity and more on how "wafu" (simple Japanese style) can be infused with San Franciscan influences, creating a truly original culinary identity. Whether you're craving fresh nigiri, comforting noodle soups, or an adventurous Japanese whiskey flight, Moshi Moshi promises a satisfying and delightful experience that feels both familiar and exciting.
Moshi Moshi is perfectly situated at 2092 3rd St, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA. This address places it firmly in the heart of the Dogpatch neighborhood, an increasingly popular and vibrant district known for its industrial-chic aesthetic, creative businesses, and burgeoning culinary scene. Its location on 3rd Street provides excellent visibility and accessibility within this dynamic part of San Francisco.
Accessibility to Moshi Moshi is quite convenient, particularly via public transportation. The T Third Muni light rail line runs directly along 3rd Street, with a stop very close to the restaurant, offering seamless connections to downtown San Francisco and other major areas. This makes it an ideal spot for those relying on public transit to get around.
For those driving, street parking can typically be found in the Dogpatch neighborhood, which, while still San Francisco, is often less congested than more central districts. The neighborhood's character and the restaurant's welcoming ambiance make it a desirable destination. Moshi Moshi's presence in this evolving area solidifies its status as a go-to spot for locals seeking quality Japanese food with easy access in California.

Moshi Moshi Reviews
The whiskey flights, the high quality of fish served here, the chill heated patio. Nothing about this spot id want to change. Add in the fact that the prices are super reasonable…. It’s probably my favorite ‘low key’ sushi spot in the 7x7. Highly recommend the Uni. Cheers!
Jan 28, 2025 · Gnome ChomskySolid neighborhood Japanese, with a little something for everybody — a wide selection of hot and cold appetizers, nigiri, rolls, noodle soups and classic entrees. Though maybe not a culinary destination, a fashionable local option frequented by Dogpatch regulars. Outdoor patio seating. Dog-friendly, inside and out.Soft Shell Crab Katsu, crunchy breadcrumb deep fry served with Japanese tartar sauce — satisfying comfort. Hamachi Kama, chargrilled yellowtail color — excellent.Sun Dragon Roll, though good, the shrimp tempura batter was not as lightly crisp as hoped, the rice slightly densely packed. Selection of nigiri sushi, does the trick, but not life-changing.Great as a small dish izakaya, with Japanese whiskey flights a novelty.
Apr 06, 2025 · Christopher ChungThe food at Moshi Moshi is varied and good quality. Service was good, except for one snafu, one entree arriving too fast. The sake was hot and tasty. Prices are not low but not outrageous either. We spent about $45/person, sharing one small pitcher of sake.
