musashi colorado springs
As Colorado locals, we know the joy of finding those hidden gems that truly deliver on flavor and experience. If you’re searching for an authentic and engaging Japanese dining experience right here in Colorado Springs, look no further than Musashi Japanese Restaurant. This established eatery has become a go-to for many, offering a delightful journey into the heart of Japanese culinary traditions, particularly their renowned teppanyaki.
Musashi Japanese Restaurant stands out for its commitment to providing more than just a meal; it's an event. While you won't find every theatrical trick seen at larger chains, the focus here is squarely on the quality of the food and the skill of the chefs. Patrons consistently highlight the chefs’ ability to expertly handle multiple orders with precision and a touch of humor, making each visit memorable. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or simply craving some expertly prepared Japanese fare, Musashi aims to deliver a satisfying experience for everyone.
From the moment you step in, you'll be welcomed into an atmosphere that, while perhaps not the most modern, prioritizes the essence of good food and convivial dining. The experience often begins with classic Japanese starters like a comforting miso soup and a crisp, small salad, setting the stage for the culinary delights to come. It’s a place where the fresh ingredients speak for themselves, and the chefs ensure your meal is cooked exactly to your liking, with special attention paid to individual preferences and dietary needs.
One of the true highlights for many diners is the teppanyaki, where skilled chefs prepare your meal right before your eyes. While they may not perform every elaborate trick, the chefs at Musashi, like Justin mentioned by a satisfied customer, are adept at their craft. You can expect impressive knife skills, entertaining jokes, and even some fiery displays that add excitement to your dinner. This interactive dining style is perfect for families, friends, and anyone looking for an engaging meal out.
Beyond the entertainment, the food at Musashi truly shines. Their filet, for example, is frequently praised for its delicious taste, perfect texture, and excellent cut, often cooked to individual specifications. The careful preparation ensures that the natural flavors of the meat come through, never overshadowed by excessive seasoning. Other popular choices include flavorful chicken thighs, perfectly cooked vegetables like zucchini, onion, mushrooms, and bean sprouts, and fantastic rice that’s even better with a drizzle of their signature ginger sauce.
Musashi also shows a commendable attentiveness to guests with food sensitivities. Chefs are known to cook gluten-free meals separately and first, ensuring no cross-contamination. This level of care, though it might extend the dining time slightly, speaks volumes about their dedication to customer satisfaction and safety. The ability to customize vegetable selections also adds to the personalized dining experience, allowing everyone to enjoy their meal exactly as they wish.
So, if you’re a local in Colorado Springs looking for a Japanese restaurant that balances delicious food with an engaging, professional atmosphere, Musashi Japanese Restaurant is a strong contender. It’s a place where the food is consistently good, the chefs are entertaining, and the overall experience leaves you feeling satisfied and well-fed.

Musashi Japanese Restaurant Reviews
This was a solid place for a birthday. The chefs here don’t do all the tricks you’ll get at chain places like Benihana- there was no onion train or eggs thrown in the air. But our chef Justin was excellent - very good at handling 10 (!!) different orders, showed off his knife tricks and made some really entertaining jokes. (You can watch him set outlet plates on fire lol. He gets fire stars) We had two people at our table celebrating birthdays and he kept that in mind when doling out any extra servings and just made for an overall really nice evening!I got the filet and it was delicious. Favorite thing of the night. Our chef made sure to ask everyone how they wanted their meat cooked and he got it perfect for me. Good texture, the cut of the meat was fine, and it wasn’t overly seasoned so the steak came though. The meal started out with miso (I think) and small salad. Both very tasty. The rest of the food was a littttttle bit saucy for my taste but totally fine. The chicken was thighs instead of what I assumed was breasts, which made them flavorful but also made me really full after eating the meal. In addition to the protein we got zucchini and onion, mushrooms and bean sprouts.I can echo some of the prior sentiments about the cleanliness- the floors probably need to be swept a bit and it’s not quite as clean as other Teppanyaki places I’ve been.
Mar 31, 2024 · Stephanie BrownEchoing other reviews regarding cleanliness, but the food was pretty good. Salad dressing was a little watery as if it'd been thinned out, but soup was to die for. I got musashi special which came with a small glass of okay plum wine. Good and sweet but a bit mediciney. By the end of the glass it grew on me. One thing I loved is the chef was attentive to food sensitivities, cooking the gluten free meal first on it's own then cooking the rest. Unfortunately that took a lot of time, and our entire experience was over 2 hours. He also cooked veggies separate which took no extra time and allowed people to choose what they wanted - loved that. The rice was great, and made even better by pouring the ginger sauce on top. My steak was delicious, but nothing in comparison to my partners filet mignon. Next time, I'll definitely get the filet. As for cleanliness, there IS thick grease coating the walls, ceilings, and support beams which is a big fire hazard. Bathrooms are disgusting and need updated as well as deep cleaned. Crevice next to hot grill collects old food and grease, and of course bacteria.
Dec 10, 2023 · Tori RandolphThis restaurant is unique. Externally you think that you will be simply enjoying food from another country. The area it is in is fairly urban so it stands out. When you walk in you are struck with how authentic the layout is to the culture. I have rarely seen such a truly authentic setup. The eating experience I did not expect. Austin our cook, was personable and professional. I highly, highly recommend this trip. It is not the cheapest, but it is a good time. Reservations are also a good idea!
Jun 12, 2019 · John & AngieWe loved this place! I really appreciated the environment and having hibachi without the chef putting on too much of a show. The atmosphere is great & feels warm and authentic. Prices are great for the amount of food you’re getting. Their sake is also delicious. We’ll be visiting again soon!
May 02, 2024 · Melina Theodora KatsareliLoved sharing a hibachi table with other fun people! It's a great way to socialize. The chef was so fun and put on a great show. The food turned out pretty salty, and there was 4 mishaps with our seating, but once we finally got sat in the right place we were so glad! The people we met were very fun. This is a great place to try at least once. I was not impressed with the bloody Mary but i'm kind of picky about those.
