Nagoya Teriyaki Introduce
Nagoya Teriyaki, located at 5500 Olympic Dr A104 in Gig Harbor, WA, operates as a local Japanese restaurant primarily specializing in teriyaki and other comfort food dishes. Within the framework of a "Doctor Near Me" platform, which aims to guide local users to essential services and goods in their vicinity, Nagoya Teriyaki functions as a valuable resource for accessible and prepared meals. While not a medical or emergency service, the availability of convenient and satisfying food options is crucial for daily living and contributes to the overall well-being and convenience of a community. Thus, information about such local dining establishments is pertinent to a platform focused on connecting residents with local amenities.
The environment at Nagoya Teriyaki appears to be primarily geared towards a takeout model, emphasizing efficiency and convenience for customers. The reviews highlight the common practice of calling in orders, which are then ready for pickup within approximately 30 minutes, allowing patrons "just enough time to peak into one of the surrounding stores." This suggests a location within a retail complex or strip mall, where the focus is on quick transactions rather than an elaborate dine-in experience. While there's no explicit description of the interior, the emphasis on call-ahead orders and rapid pickup indicates a functional, no-frills setting where the main objective is to provide prepared food swiftly. The phone numbers, (253) 426-8818 and +1 253-426-8818, are consistently provided, reinforcing the ease of placing orders remotely.
The features of Nagoya Teriyaki's menu include a range of popular Japanese comfort dishes. Customers frequently praise their "teriyaki chicken combos," gyoza, "Szechuan beef," and "friend rice." A particularly strong point highlighted by a loyal customer is the "kimchi," which is described as "the absolute best." This positive feedback points to specific menu items that are consistently well-received and considered highlights of their offerings. However, it is important to provide a balanced perspective, as another recent review indicated a significant decline in quality. This reviewer stated that the food was "the worst teriyaki I have ever had," citing issues such as "dry" meat cut into "little squares," "wilted" salad, "mediocre at best" fried rice with "egg shell in it," and to-go boxes that "melted like it had been microwaved." This stark contrast in experiences suggests potential inconsistencies in food preparation or ingredient quality, or perhaps a temporary lapse that significantly impacted one customer's experience. This variability in quality is a crucial factor for potential diners to consider.
Service at Nagoya Teriyaki, based on the provided reviews, also presents a mixed narrative. The consistent positive experience of orders being ready quickly for pickup within 30 minutes, and the personal mention of "Mr. Steve" in a positive light, suggest that when things go well, the service is efficient and friendly. This indicates a routine of smooth operations for regular customers who utilize their call-ahead service. However, the recent negative review highlights a critical service failure beyond just food quality. The lack of "utensils or anything in the bag" for a takeout order represents a fundamental oversight in service. This suggests that while routine pickups might be efficient, attention to detail in packaging and ensuring complete orders may not always be consistent. The juxtaposition of a long-time customer who calls it their "go to at least once a week" with a recent dissatisfied customer illustrates the challenge of maintaining consistent quality and service over time.
Regarding promotional information, specific, active promotions or discounts for Nagoya Teriyaki are not mentioned in the provided customer feedback. For businesses operating primarily as takeout-focused establishments, their "promotion" often lies in their speed, convenience, and perceived value. The positive mention of favorite items like the "absolute best" kimchi and reliable readiness for pickup acts as a form of organic promotion through customer satisfaction. However, the negative review, detailing a $50+ cost for "2 meals and 2 drinks side of gyoza," without the expected quality or complete packaging, indirectly impacts the perceived value. While the earlier loyal customer implies a good value given their weekly visits, the more recent critical review suggests that the value proposition might be diminishing if quality control issues persist. Therefore, potential customers would primarily be drawn by the convenience and the positive word-of-mouth about specific dishes, rather than explicit promotional offers. The existence of a strong customer base over the years, as implied by the "many times over the years" comment, indicates a past track record of delivering value that has built loyalty.
In conclusion, Nagoya Teriyaki in Gig Harbor, WA, serves as a local option for Japanese teriyaki and comfort food, especially convenient for takeout orders. Its environment is geared towards efficiency, allowing for quick pickup. While it boasts popular items like its teriyaki chicken combos, gyoza, Szechuan beef, and particularly acclaimed kimchi, recent feedback suggests potential inconsistencies in food quality and attention to takeout details. The service, while often efficient for routine pickups, appears to have room for improvement in ensuring complete orders and consistent quality. For local users on a "Doctor Near Me" platform, Nagoya Teriyaki offers a convenient meal option, but potential customers may wish to consider the varied experiences reported regarding food quality and service consistency.

Nagoya Teriyaki Reviews
This is our go to at least once a week. We love the teriyaki chicken combos, gyoza, Szechuan beef, and friend rice. The kimchi is the absolute best. We usually call and our order is ready within 30 mins to pick up which allows just enough time to peak into one of the surrounding stores. Thank you Mr. Steve!
December 11 · K LDon’t get me wrong I have eaten here many times over the years.its always been fair to good but Lately I have noticed the quality has diminished . This evening it was the worst teriyaki I have ever had. The to go boxes melted like it had been microwaved . Presentation looked horrible , salad Wilted meat cut into little squares and dry. Fried rice mediocre at best and egg shell in it.We paid $50 plus tip for 2 meals and 2 drinks side of gyoza which was decent the only thing. We had no utensils or anything in the bag .Sorry but you gotta step up your game . Or maybe it’s time to hang it up.
December 15 · Roberto DiazThe food is good and fresh. I appreciate that the cook/owner accepts modifications to make my food vegan. The restaurant is clean and the cook appears to follow strict food protocols.
December 25 · Kat WellerThis Nagoya Teriyaki place is loaded with lots of flavor. The General Tso’s chicken spice level is no joke. Next time, I’ll get something less spicy. It’ll be worth it. Getting back to their chicken, it’s very good regardless. Chewy and never dry. It’s always a good bite to eat. The rice is great too. The mixing is a great idea when it comes to rice and chicken. It’s just… beautiful. Go get Nagoya whenever you got cravings for chicken.
July 17 · Julian FinholmThey apparently switched owners. It's noticeable. I grew up on Nagoya teriyaki. I asked for steamed cabbage. No other vegetables JUST cabbage. I also asked if it was cabbage leaves style and NOT shredded. I was very specific. He gave me shredded cabbage and carrots (I hate carrots). The chicken texture had like a light breading on it or something? And the sauce was so bad. You can TASTE the difference in quality. It's a weird sauce. Doesn't taste like teriyaki. I think I'm finally done going to Nagoya.
