Even the classic Spicy Scallop roll garners high praise. For Illinois residents who are willing to invest in a truly exceptional culinary experience, Nomonomo Sushi justifies its price with unforgettable flavors, high-quality ingredients, and service that is consistently "attentive, friendly, and professional." Despite initial impressions or minor quibbles like a chilly seating area near the window, the overall consensus points to a dining experience that "exceeded expectations" and warrants a return visit for anyone seeking an elevated sushi journey.

Nomonomo Sushi Reviews
Instead of going to a tried & true, we decided on checking out a new place. 4.5 star out of 90 reviews, should be pretty decent, we thought. The interaction we experienced both on the phone & in person with the male host was strange. Then once we sat, the server came by to our table & silently poured water, ignoring our greeting. She barely smiled, wasn’t welcoming or helpful & it was clear she didn’t want to be there. She checked on us once after we received our food. The food was wayyy overpriced for what we got. Nothing wowed us, and the sushi rice was overly vinegared & our aburi would fall apart due to the rice not being properly prepared. The booziest cocktails we picked were a little on the sweet side. No ambiance, tables are too close together, almost like diner seating. I’d never go back or recommend this place. Too many good sushi restaurants in Chicago to waste hard-earned money here.
Mar 22, 2025 · Tanya Kiatathikom**🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Exceptional Sushi Experience!**Nomonomo Sushi delivered an unforgettable dining experience that was worth every penny. While it’s on the pricier side, the quality, flavors, and service more than justify the cost.We started with the *Maguro Tartare* (big-eye tuna, avocado, mango, red onion, cilantro, and chips) as a cold appetizer. While it wasn’t my personal favorite, the meal only got better from there. For the hot appetizer, we chose the *Blistered Shishito Peppers* with garlic ponzu, lemon, and katsuobushi. I’ve always enjoyed peppers, but I never imagined they could be this flavorful on their own—absolutely fantastic and a must-try.For the main event, we ordered two rolls: the *Spicy Scallop* (a classic maki) and the *Kani Hotate* (a signature roll with snow crab, truffle aioli, scallop, avocado, cucumber, chive, roe, and house tartare sauce). The signature roll was hands down the star of the night—it might just be the best roll we’ve ever had! The combination of flavors was mind-blowing, with every bite melting in your mouth. The service was outstanding—attentive, friendly, and professional. The ambiance was quiet and cozy, which perfectly suited our vibe. The only small downside was our seating near the window at the entrance, where it was quite chilly, making it hard to take off our coats. A little attention to heating that area could make the experience flawless.Overall, Nomonomo Sushi exceeded our expectations, and we can’t wait to return. Highly recommend for sushi lovers looking for an elevated dining experience!
Jan 24, 2025 · Manja PetrovPerfect place to splurge on your birthday :) all the ingredients are super fresh and menu is so creative
May 28, 2025 · Dalyn KoetjeThe food was good. I agree with some other reviews that the rice is a little aggressively seasoned. Nonetheless, the food was the highlight of the meal. Good quality fish. Our waitress could have been a little more friendly. They were out of multiple bottles on the sake list. The worst part of the experience was the music. The music was loud house/techno. This really killed the mood of an otherwise nice space.
Apr 20, 2025 · Joseph KowalskiGLUTEN FREE FRIENDLYThis was our second time visiting! The first time was super busy and they were working out some of the bumps, but this time it was perfect! The quality of sushi for the price is unbeatable! This is our new go to spot! Also, Mikaela was AMAZING! She did a great job making sure our food came out in a timely manner which can be hard with both hot and cold items being order. Our food came out in a way that one person wasn’t eating while the other waited for food, which we greatly appreciated! The drinks were also well balanced and not overly boozy like some places can be. We got the happy hour old fashion and margarita for our drinks. We cannot wait to come back and have Mikaela as our server again!Oh, and I have no photos because the food did not last long enough to remember to take them haha.
