OKI Japan Introduce
Located at 3500 S Meridian Unit 494 in Puyallup, WA 98373, within the Puyallup Mall, OKI Japan is a Japanese restaurant that serves the local community. In the context of a "Doctor Near Me" platform, which aims to connect local users with services and goods, OKI Japan functions as a provider of prepared meals, addressing a fundamental need for sustenance and convenience. Much like a medical service caters to health, OKI Japan offers a culinary service, providing a quick and accessible option for those seeking Japanese cuisine. It positions itself as a readily available food source for shoppers and residents within the mall and surrounding areas.
The **environment** of OKI Japan, being situated within the Puyallup Mall, suggests a typical food court or casual mall restaurant setting. Such environments are generally designed for efficiency, catering to shoppers looking for a quick bite. This means the atmosphere is likely functional, with seating arrangements that prioritize capacity and quick turnover, rather than a more intimate or formal dining experience. The noise level might vary depending on mall traffic. While specific details about decor are not provided, the primary focus for customers in such an environment is often the speed of service and the food itself. However, the nature of a mall location also means easy accessibility for many, making it a convenient stop. The cleanliness of the space is not explicitly mentioned in the provided reviews, but generally, mall eateries are expected to maintain a certain level of hygiene to attract customers. The overall environment is intended to be a convenient and accessible spot for a meal while at the mall.
The **service** at OKI Japan receives mixed but significant commentary. On one hand, there's acknowledgment that the "Folks behind the counter are great," indicating a positive initial interaction with the staff responsible for taking orders. This suggests a friendly demeanor and potentially efficient order processing at the front end. However, a highly concerning aspect of the service is highlighted by a customer who stated, "the little old lady told the cashier next time charge them definitely not impressed at all" regarding a complementary teriyaki sauce. This suggests a lack of generosity or a shift in policy regarding free condiments, which can negatively impact customer perception of value and overall service quality. This particular incident points to a potential disconnect between the front-line friendliness and behind-the-scenes decision-making or communication regarding customer amenities. For a local establishment, consistent and welcoming service, including clear policies on complimentary items, is crucial for fostering customer loyalty. While the initial interaction at the counter might be positive, the overall service experience, particularly concerning implicit expectations and potential charges, appears to be an area of inconsistency.
OKI Japan's **features** are centered around its Japanese menu, including teriyaki and sushi rolls, particularly the Spicy Tuna Roll and regular chicken teriyaki. However, the reviews present significant and concerning inconsistencies in food quality, which directly impact the perceived features of the restaurant. The **Spicy Tuna Roll** is described as "not what came out" compared to its picture, and was "doused in sauce," with "massive globs of mayo... squirt on each piece," leading to disappointment and efforts to scrape off excess sauce. This suggests a significant deviation from expected sushi preparation and presentation. The **regular chicken teriyaki** is critiqued for "undercooked pieces of chicken," being "slimy," having "overcooked and mushy" vegetables, and "overcooked rice." Another review reinforces issues with the chicken being "over cooked" and a lack of vegetables in the fried rice. Most alarmingly, both reviews mention finding **hair in the food**, which is a severe hygiene and quality control issue. These consistent complaints about undercooked/overcooked meat, poor vegetable texture, unsatisfactory rice, excessive sauce application, and hygiene issues with hair in the food paint a concerning picture of the restaurant's core features. While the intention is to offer Japanese cuisine, the execution, based on these reviews, falls significantly short of acceptable standards, leading to the food not settling well at all. The features are thus defined by a problematic and inconsistent delivery of basic culinary expectations.
Regarding **promotional information**, the provided customer reviews unfortunately highlight significant challenges rather than positive draws. While location within the Puyallup Mall offers inherent visibility and foot traffic, the negative experiences reported by customers directly undermine any potential promotional efforts. The reviews act more as warnings than endorsements. The high ratings (4.8 on Google and 5.0 on Yelp) mentioned in a previous context for a different restaurant (GO!! GO!! Teriyaki) are not applicable here, as these reviews for OKI Japan are explicitly negative. A customer buying three meals and finding hair, along with being told about future charges for complimentary sauce, clearly indicates a failure in generating positive word-of-mouth promotion. In the context of a "Doctor Near Me" platform, this means that while the restaurant is locally accessible, the "service" it provides (food quality and hygiene) is far from beneficial, and could even be detrimental. Therefore, any implied promotion from its existence as a local food option is severely hampered by these direct, critical customer experiences. Without substantial changes to address the serious quality and hygiene issues, traditional promotional efforts would likely be ineffective. The most "promotional" aspect a prospective customer could glean from these reviews is a strong caution. Individuals considering OKI Japan should be aware of these reported issues. Customers can contact OKI Japan at (253) 353-6000 or +1 253-353-6000 for inquiries, but based on the current feedback, this would be more for due diligence than for seeking positive promotional offers.
In conclusion, OKI Japan, situated at 3500 S Meridian Unit 494, Puyallup, WA 98373, USA, is a Japanese restaurant located within the Puyallup Mall. While the "Folks behind the counter are great," indicating some positive customer service interaction, the restaurant faces severe criticisms regarding its **food quality and hygiene**. Customers reported issues such as a Spicy Tuna Roll "doused in sauce," "undercooked pieces of chicken," "slimy" and "overcooked" vegetables, "overcooked rice," and most alarmingly, **hair found in food**. Additionally, a lack of generosity concerning complimentary teriyaki sauce was noted. The environment is typical of a mall food establishment, focusing on quick service for shoppers. However, the overwhelming negative feedback on the food itself, particularly hygiene concerns and inconsistent preparation, significantly overshadows any positive aspects of service or convenience. For local users in Puyallup, these reviews indicate serious quality control issues that should be carefully considered before dining at OKI Japan. The restaurant's contact numbers are (253) 353-6000 and +1 253-353-6000.

OKI Japan Reviews
Folks behind the counter are great, but this didn’t settle well at all. The Spicy Tuna Roll from the picture was not what came out - sushi isn’t meant to be doused in sauce, yet massive globs of mayo were squirt on each piece of the roll and we tried scraping off the best we could. The regular chicken teriyaki was just unsettling - undercooked pieces of chicken, slimy, vegetables were overcooked and mushy, rice had been overcooked as well.

We love the chicken teriyaki we come here at least once a week but this is our favorite place no where else compares and the food is the same delicious meal every time no inconsistency!
Feb 24, 2025 · Vylet BrooksKind people who work here. Great price for what you get. One Chicken Teriyaki bowl can fill you up for the whole day. Highly recommend. My favorite food place in the entire food court at the mall.
Jan 24, 2025 · SarimThis place has great food and drinks. We've been eating here for years and have never been disappointed. I have noticed they seem to always be the busiest place in the food court.
