OMAKAI sushi

Sushi restaurant ★4.0 (943)·$50–100

3304 Mary St, Miami, FL 33133, USA

4.0
I am very pleased with Omakai's Happy Hour options. I had heard they offered amazing quality and freshness at unbeatable prices that was definitely the case. The staff was friendly and efficient. We sat by the bar, quite small, so plan accordingly, but the restaurant is appealing and family friend. We love how diverse the selection of food in the happy hour menu was and tried everything multiple times. Compared to other restaurants, they win in affordability without sacrificing taste. My only feedback will be to expand on the sake list. We will return. - Elisa Romulo

Locals have quickly embraced OMAKAI for its dedication to superior ingredients, efficient service, and a welcoming atmosphere that makes every visit feel like a special treat. This article will explore what makes OMAKAI sushi a must-visit for anyone seeking a top-tier sushi experience in Miami, from its prime location to its standout features and exceptional value.

Location and Accessibility

OMAKAI sushi is conveniently located at 3304 Mary St, Miami, FL 33133, USA. This address places it squarely in the heart of Coconut Grove, one of Miami's most charming and lively neighborhoods. Coconut Grove is known for its lush, tropical ambiance, pedestrian-friendly streets, and a vibrant mix of boutiques, cafes, and restaurants.

Its location on Mary Street ensures excellent accessibility for residents throughout Miami, particularly those in Coral Gables, South Miami, and Brickell. While the restaurant itself is described as "quite small," implying an intimate setting, the surrounding area typically offers various parking options, including street parking and nearby garages, which is a significant advantage in a popular Miami district. The easy access to major roads and the appealing walkability of Coconut Grove make OMAKAI sushi a highly convenient and attractive dining destination for both planned visits and spontaneous cravings.

Services Offered

OMAKAI sushi primarily focuses on delivering a streamlined yet exceptional sushi experience, with a strong emphasis on quality and convenience. Their core offerings revolve around the omakase concept, but they also provide à la carte options.

  • Curated Omakase Experiences: OMAKAI's signature offering is its curated set menus, referred to as omakase experiences. These include options like "OMA Lite," "OMA," and "OMA Deluxe," which feature a chef's selection of fresh nigiri, sashimi, and hand rolls. These sets are designed to provide a comprehensive tasting journey without the high price point typically associated with traditional omakase.

  • Premium Nigiri Selection: They offer a wide array of individual nigiri pieces, including seasonal fish, Bluefin Tuna (Akami, Chu-Toro, O-Toro), Salmon (Sake, Benizake, King Salmon), Yellowtail (Hamachi), Albacore Tuna (Bincho), Hokkaido Scallops (Hotate), Freshwater Eel (Unagi), and more. Specialty nigiri like Toro Truffle and Wagyu A5 are also available.

  • Hand Rolls: A selection of freshly prepared hand rolls, made with premium nori and their special rice recipe. Popular options include Blue Crab Hand Roll, Negi-Toro (Fatty Tuna), Salmon, Yellowtail, and Bay Scallop. These are designed to be eaten quickly to maintain optimal temperature and crispness.

  • Sashimi: Fresh sashimi options, often included in their omakase sets or available à la carte, featuring high-quality cuts of various fish.

  • Appetizers: Simple yet high-quality appetizers such as Edamame and Sashimi Special.

  • Beverage Program: OMAKAI offers a selection of beer, wine, and sake. While the sake list is noted by some customers as an area for potential expansion, it provides suitable pairings for their sushi.

  • Dine-In Service: Providing a "appealing and family-friendly" atmosphere, though the physical space is "quite small" with limited seating, particularly at the bar. Reservations are recommended, especially for the Coconut Grove location, to secure a spot.

  • Takeout and Delivery: Offering convenient options for customers to enjoy their high-quality sushi at home or work, often referred to as "Homeakase Box" options, allowing for a full sushi experience on the go.

Features / Highlights

OMAKAI sushi has earned its stellar reputation in Miami through several distinctive features that consistently impress its clientele:
