Portland Hibachi Introduce
For many Oregonians, especially those in the bustling Portland area, the food truck scene is a vibrant part of our culinary landscape. Among the myriad of options, Portland Hibachi has carved out a dedicated following, offering a taste of delicious Japanese-style grilled dishes that are both satisfying and surprisingly affordable. This popular food truck brings the flavors of a hibachi grill directly to the streets of Portland, making it a convenient and flavorful stop for a quick lunch or a hearty dinner.
Portland Hibachi isn't your traditional sit-down Japanese restaurant, but it delivers on the essence of hibachi cooking: fresh ingredients, expertly grilled meats and vegetables, and savory fried rice. While it operates from a food truck, its commitment to quality and flavor has won over many local palates. For those seeking a delicious and well-priced meal that can often stretch into two servings, Portland Hibachi presents an excellent option, embodying the spirit of accessible gourmet street food that Portland is known for.
Portland Hibachi is located at 15710 NE Glisan St, Portland, OR 97230, USA. This address places the food truck in a well-trafficked area of Northeast Portland, making it easily accessible for residents and workers in the surrounding neighborhoods. Glisan Street is a significant artery, ensuring good visibility and straightforward navigation whether you're driving or using local public transport.
As a food truck, its accessibility can sometimes be tied to its operating hours, which can occasionally vary or be subject to unexpected closures. However, for the majority of the time, its fixed location provides a reliable spot for those looking to grab a quick and delicious meal. Parking availability around a food truck can sometimes be a consideration, but its presence on a main street often means there are options nearby. Its location makes it a convenient stop for a mid-day break or an evening pickup, fitting well into the daily routines of many Portland locals.
As a food truck, Portland Hibachi focuses on providing efficient and delicious take-out service:
- Take-out Service: The primary service offered is quick and convenient take-out, perfect for a grab-and-go meal during a lunch break or for dinner at home.
- Daily Menu: The menu typically focuses on various hibachi platters, including chicken, steak (like filet mignon), and combinations, served with fried rice and vegetables.
- Customization: While the menu is straightforward, customers can often request specific sauces (like garlic butter or yum-yum sauce) and sometimes have options for meat temperature.
- Online Ordering/Delivery Platform Presence: Portland Hibachi is often available on major food delivery platforms such as DoorDash, Uber Eats, and Seamless, allowing customers to order for pickup or delivery to their location.
Portland Hibachi has garnered a loyal following in Oregon due to several key features and highlights:
- Melt-in-Your-Mouth Filet Mignon: A standout feature, highly praised by customers, is the filet mignon platter with garlic butter. Reviewers describe the filet as "melt-in-your-mouth tender every time" and "never been overcooked," making it a particular favorite.
- Flavorful Fried Rice: The fried rice accompanying the hibachi platters is consistently lauded for being "super flavorful," complementing the proteins and vegetables perfectly.
- Delicious and Substantial Vegetables: The vegetables, typically "big chunks of zucchini and broccoli," are noted for being "delicious" and "never mushy," adding a fresh and wholesome component to the meal.
- Exceptional Value: Despite offering premium items like filet mignon, many customers believe the portions provide "great value," often stretching into "two meals" from a single platter, making it a highly economical option compared to traditional sit-down restaurants.
- Speed of Service: As a food truck, efficiency is key, and Portland Hibachi generally delivers orders quickly, which is ideal for those on a time crunch.
- Quality of Meat: Beyond the filet, other proteins like the chicken are described as "very tender and flavorful," indicating overall high quality in their main ingredients.
- Reliable Flavor: Despite some operational inconsistencies, the overall food quality is frequently described as consistently good, with patrons often returning for their favorite dishes.
While information on long-term or recurring promotions for Portland Hibachi is not consistently available in general reviews, food trucks in Portland often utilize daily specials, online deals, or loyalty programs. For Oregon locals looking for promotions, it's recommended to:
- Check their listings on delivery apps: Platforms like DoorDash, Uber Eats, and Seamless often feature exclusive discounts, BOGO (Buy One Get One) deals (as noted in one review, a 2 for $14 deal was available for Hibachi Chicken), or free delivery offers for food truck partners.
- Follow their social media: If Portland Hibachi maintains social media profiles, they would be the primary place to announce daily specials, temporary discounts, or any changes to their menu or hours.
- Visit during typical lunch hours: As highlighted by one review, there might be specific "lunch specials" (e.g., $13.50 for a smaller portion of the chicken plate between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.). It is advisable to clarify portion sizes and pricing directly at the time of order to avoid misunderstandings.
Since food trucks can be dynamic, direct inquiry or checking their current online menus/apps is the best way for locals to stay informed about any current promotions.

Portland Hibachi Reviews
I ordered the chicken plate and was charged $18. However, I arrived before noon and noticed the exact same item listed as a $13.50 lunch special, which runs from 11 to 2 p.m. When I asked about the price difference, the staff member claimed I hadn’t been specific when ordering and that the $13.5 version is smaller portioned. That explanation doesn’t hold up. If there are multiple versions of a dish with the same name, it’s the restaurant’s responsibility to clearly explain the options—especially when there’s a significant price difference. Failing to do so feels misleading and unprofessional. As for the food, it was mostly filler: roughly 65% rice, 30% vegetables, and just a small portion of dried, diced chicken.
Apr 06, 2025 · Jose Luis Cano ZabayaThis is probably my favorite good truck EVER. I always get the same thing: filet minion platter with garlic butter. The filet has been melt-in-your-mouth tender every time, and it’s never been overcooked. The vegetables are delicious, big chunks of zucchini and broccoli, never mushy. The fried rice is super flavorful. I personally do not believe it’s overpriced, because it feeds me for two meals. Yesterday my platter and a soda cost me 28 plus tip, and since I eat it twice that makes it 14 bucks a meal. Where else are you going to eat filet minion for 14 bucks??? That’s fast food prices! The only negative thing I’ve experienced is finding the truck closed a few times when it should have been open. When I go for my lunch break at work and find it closed, I have to hurry and figure something else out if I want to eat before I go back to work.
Jan 25, 2025 · Brenda BoyleI couldn't get a full picture because the entire trip back to work the amazing smell was teasing me. I tore into this immediately, and barely took a breath. The rice is cooked and spiced perfectly, the meat is tender and juicy. And the portions? They packed this tub full for 18 bucks? A steal! Service was very friendly, I am definitely making this a normal stop for my lunches! Don't forget to try the yum yum sauce!!!
Nov 17, 2023 · Sai The WriterI got this on DoorDash on a hungry post workout whim and it’s was one of the best. I got the filet mignon platter with veggies and white rice. The streak was super flavorful and cooked to my asking. The vegetables were freshly grilled. Get the garlic butter and yum yum sauce!
Jan 22, 2025 · R RGot the chicken plate and it tasted like grill cleaner. Couldn't take more than 3 bites. The rice tasted the same.
