This well-established restaurant has become a local staple, known for its dedication to traditional ramen preparation, including handcrafted noodles and premium broths, alongside a diverse menu that extends to tsukemen (dipping noodles), delectable sushi, and a variety of Japanese comfort foods.
Customer experiences at RAKIRAKI offer a nuanced picture. One reviewer, while praising the "California roll, the gyoza, and the broth of all our ramen," did note that some "toppings inside the ramen were just really mediocre," and that the "chicken was very dry and the chasiu was bland and rubbery," which led to an expectation for better quality given the price point. This suggests that while the core components like broth and side dishes are strong, there might be inconsistencies in other elements.
However, another customer's experience highlights the overall positive vibe and quick service, even overcoming initial apprehension about parking on Convoy Street. This patron expressed a nostalgic connection to Japan and Korea, stating, "This place impressed! Ordered the Fried Chicken and Gyozo but will be back for the rest because it’s so chill and casual with fast service and hot food! Very nice size portions." This review emphasizes the welcoming atmosphere, efficiency, generous portions, and the quality of their non-ramen items. RAKIRAKI aims to provide an immersive Japanese dining experience, as indicated by their statement: "RakiRaki serves a wide variety of authentic ramen dishes and Japanese cuisine including tsukemen (dipping noodles), charcoal-fired yakitori, curry, ramen burgers, and specialty sushi rolls along with local craft beer and sake selections." This commitment to a broad, authentic Japanese menu, delivered with speed and a friendly demeanor, continues to make RAKIRAKI a significant player in San Diego's vibrant food scene.

RAKIRAKI Ramen & Tsukemen Reviews
The California roll, the gyoza, and the broth of all our ramen was good and the service was great. Unfortunately, the toppings inside the ramen were just really mediocre. The chicken was very dry and the chasiu was bland and rubbery. For around 20 dollars a bowl I expected much better.
Mar 22, 2025 · Jesse SheltonWas freaking out when they said let’s go to RakiRaki! Convoy and Parking!! Oh no! Calmed down and just went. So happy to find parking! Was feeling a bit nostalgic of my living in Japan and Korea days! Best Ramen I ever had was Sasebo Japan! However when it’s freezing in Seoul and you’re hungry nothing hits the spot better! This place impressed! Ordered the Fried Chicken and Gyozo but will be back for the rest because it’s so chill and casual with fast service and hot food! Very nice size portions.
Mar 13, 2025 · Craig CarterYummy ramen with a gluten free take as well which I appreciate! The Rudy curry was a unique spin on ramen I hadn’t had! They weren’t fully knowledgeable about where the soy sauce domes from (origin matters for my allergies) but overall very tasty and filling.Service was quick and professional and the interior was nice and comfortable. Decent amounts of parking.
Jan 25, 2025 · Alicia WallaceThe food here is so good! The ramen portions are super filling we all had to ask for to-go containers. One of my daughters stated "one of the best meals I've had in a long time!" Ox tail ramen has two bowls!!
Feb 19, 2025 · Thomas KenneyGrateful for the very tasty Vegan and Non-vegan options. The service was amazing too.The Ramen portions were great and the amount of meat to ramen was impressive. You can taste how healthy and tasty their food is compared to other Ramen places that gain taste with too much salt and sweets and oil.Give them a try for sure!
