RICE Introduce
For many Californians, particularly those navigating specific dietary needs like gluten sensitivities, allergies, or embracing plant-based lifestyles, enjoying authentic and diverse culinary experiences can sometimes be a challenge. While Los Angeles boasts a vibrant Japanese food scene, finding a restaurant that caters comprehensively to these requirements without compromising on flavor or quality is a rare gem. This is where RICE steps in, offering a refreshing and inclusive approach to Japanese dining right in the heart of Little Tokyo. This article aims to provide a clear, engaging, and informative overview of RICE, highlighting why it's a standout choice for local users in California.
RICE is not just another Japanese restaurant; it's a pioneering establishment that specializes in a 100% gluten-free menu, with a significant emphasis on accommodating various dietary preferences, including vegetarian and vegan options. Unlike many places that offer a few gluten-free dishes as an afterthought, RICE has built its entire concept around it, utilizing brown rice flour for most of its offerings, including often hard-to-find items like gluten-free ramen. This commitment means diners with allergies or dietary restrictions can explore the menu with confidence and peace of mind. Beyond its inclusive menu, RICE aims to provide a cozy and welcoming atmosphere, making it suitable for a romantic dinner or a relaxed meal with friends and family, all while enjoying fresh, high-quality Japanese cuisine.
RICE is conveniently located on the top floor of the Little Tokyo Galleria, a bustling center within the historic Little Tokyo district of Los Angeles. You can find them at:
333 S Alameda St #310, Los Angeles, CA 9013, USA
Being situated within the Little Tokyo Galleria offers several advantages regarding accessibility. The mall environment typically provides ample parking, either in dedicated structures or nearby paid lots, which can be a significant benefit in the dense urban landscape of downtown Los Angeles. Little Tokyo itself is well-connected by public transportation, including the Metro Rail Gold Line (Little Tokyo/Arts District Station), making it easy for patrons to visit without a car. The location on the top floor of the galleria provides a pleasant and slightly removed dining experience from the street-level bustle, offering a cozy and even romantic ambiance as noted by customers. This central location in a cultural hub makes RICE an ideal stop for locals exploring the shops, cultural attractions, or enjoying a night out in Little Tokyo.
RICE provides a range of services designed to offer a comfortable and accommodating Japanese dining experience:

Vegan and Vegetarian Options: Beyond being gluten-free, RICE offers a wide array of vegetarian and vegan dishes, providing ample choices for plant-based diners. This inclusivity sets them apart from many traditional Japanese restaurants.
Allergy Accommodation: The staff is highly knowledgeable and accommodating regarding food allergies, double-checking with tables and providing peace of mind for diners with specific dietary concerns.

RICE stands out with several unique features that make it a highly desirable dining destination in Los Angeles:

High-Quality and Fresh Ingredients: Despite the dietary focus, the quality of the food remains paramount. Customers highlight the "fresh" quality of the fish in their sushi and describe sauces as "to die for," indicating no compromise on flavor.
Authentic-Tasting Gluten-Free Ramen: The availability of gluten-free ramen that "tastes just like wheat ramen" is a game-changer for many who have missed this comfort food due to dietary restrictions.

Based on the available public data, RICE does not extensively advertise specific, ongoing promotions or special offers. For a restaurant that caters to a niche market like gluten-free and vegan dining, its unique selling proposition often serves as its primary draw. However, like many establishments in dynamic urban centers, they may introduce seasonal specials, limited-time menu items, or lunch deals that are not always widely publicized. It is always recommended that interested patrons directly contact RICE via phone or check their official website or social media channels (if available) for any current promotions or new menu additions before visiting. This proactive approach will ensure you have the most up-to-date information on any value-added offerings.

RICE Reviews
My bf and I caught the restaurant just before dinner, and the restaurant was so cozy and romantic. The restaurant is very accommodating to allergies and double check with the table for anyone who has one. The whole menu is gluten free with most items being made from brown rice flour. This is such a rare gem for allergies and there was also plenty of vegetarian and some vegan options. Love it, will make it a point to come back. We ordered the dynamite lobster roll and a special eel tail roll, the quality of the fish was fresh and the sauces were to die for. Gluten free ramen is also hard to come by and it tastes just like wheat ramen. Would recommend!
May 26, 2025 · Jazmine SmithSushi place that specializes in gluten-free and vegan dining, although they do have plenty of options with fish as well. Staff is very knowledgeable regarding food allergy issues. The Buffalo Cauliflower sushi roll was excellent.Restaurant is located on the top floor of the Little Tokyo galleria.
Jul 07, 2024 · Jesse ChangI went to a very popular and well-known restaurant in Manhattan Beach that opened a new location in DTLA. All of the food is gluten-free, with some vegan dishes, but the taste and quality was so good that I was surprised that it was really gluten-free. The parking is free with 2 hour validation.
May 19, 2024 · Toru MatobaAs someone that only eats gluten free, this was hands down the best sushi experience of my life. Do yourself a favor and order the dynamite lobster roll. SO good. You’re welcome. Also the most basic sake on their menu, $7 on the happy hour menu, was the best sake I’ve ever had.
Mar 30, 2025 · Brianna ManesSuper classy vibe for Valentine’s Day, atmospheric lighting and piano music. The food was high quality and so well crafted. Highly recommend to anyone, especially those who avoid gluten, as everything was 100% gluten free and delicious! Service was phenomenal. I dropped my chopsticks on the floor lol and within minutes a waitress brought me clean ones. A very classy date night! Recommend making a reservation for busy dates like Valentine’s Day. We will definitely be returning 💕
