Riptide Rockin' Sushi & Teppan Grills Reviews
Last night, my party of four visited Riptide for Happy Hour, arriving at 9:15 PM and choosing to sit by the sushi counter. The sushi chef was excellent and engaging — a definite highlight of the evening. However, the overall experience was disappointing. My wife was excited to order the Bacon Fried Rice and Rock Shrimp, but when we began placing our order, we were told that draft beer was unavailable because the bartender had already left. We opted for sake instead, which took over 20 minutes to arrive and was served so hot it burned my fingertip — completely undrinkable. Most frustrating of all, at 9:50 PM (35 minutes after we sat down), I asked about my wife’s food and was informed the cook had gone home — meaning her entire order was never going to come. She waited for half an hour, hungry, only to find out her food wasn’t even being prepared. This lack of communication and service was unacceptable. We understand closing times, but if certain items or staff are no longer available, that should be communicated upfront so guests can make informed decisions. I hope the management takes this feedback seriously, as it reflects poorly on an otherwise promising restaurant
May 08, 2025 · Mark SafaverdiWe visited this place about 5 years ago, and we enjoyed the teppanyaki table very much along with the food and service. As a result, we decided to visit again in November for a relatives birthday and were very disappointed. To begin with, when reserving the table there was a misunderstanding and we were not seated at the teppanyaki table as we wanted and were seated at a regular booth. The issue was that there was about 12 people in our party and we barely fit at the table even with additional chairs placed on the sides. The rest of the night kept getting worse and worse, from attitude from our waitress to mediocre food, it didn't seem like the same place we visited before at all. Our cutlery was dirty when it arrived and when we asked for replacements the waitress hesitantly took the dirty forks and finally returned around 10 minutes later only to have grabbed the forks from the empty table beside us. Also, despite it being a Saturday evening, the restaurant was not as busy but the waiters took forever to serve us and provide us with our food and many of the fish were unavailable impacting the number of sushi choices you could pick from or any of the lobster rolls. Just seemed a but odd to make half of your menu unavailable on a weekend night when your primary cuisine is seafood.I wouldn't recommend this restaurant for special occasions, maybe for an occasional outing but I wouldn't bet on them having all their sushi options or even good service.
Jan 07, 2024 · VictoriaI've been here several times--and, while I almost always have a great experience, the last time I was here the service was inattentive enough to make me remember it three weeks later. We had the wrong food come to our table (momentarily), certain dishes and place settings not provided until too late, and other small things like that. The food was good, as always. When I'm back and the service improves, I'll update my review.
Apr 23, 2025 · Jeremy MozlinEverything was perfect.. However our chef made a few inappropriate comments.. Maybe not on purpose but the moment was awkward.. The food was awesome.. Hope he is well..
Jun 17, 2024 · c00lc321I've been coming here for 15 years and Riptide used to be so much better. No longer has the same feel inside nor level of service. Feels like a decent option for a nice dinner if you're aged 16-21 but there are much better options around.I would recommend many places for sushi, there are way better bar options, and if you want a teppanyaki experience come in with low expectations.
