Sakura Japanese Restaurant is best known for its comprehensive and highly praised all-you-can-eat (AYCE) sushi experience, but it also offers a full menu of Japanese favorites. Here’s a detailed look at what you can expect:
All-You-Can-Eat (AYCE) Sushi: This is Sakura's signature offering and a major draw for many customers. The AYCE menu is extensive and includes a wide variety of items. You typically order by writing down your selections on a paper menu, and everything is made fresh to order, ensuring quality and preventing waste. This option is highly praised for being "unbeatable and reasonably priced."
Diverse AYCE Menu Inclusions: The AYCE menu is not limited to just sushi. According to reviews, it typically includes:
Appetizers: A selection of popular starters, such as Edamame, Gyoza (pan-fried pork dumplings), Vegetable Gyoza, Crab Rangoon, Crispy Vegetable Spring Rolls, Shumai (shrimp dumplings), Crispy Fish, Crispy Shrimp, and Tempura Appetizers (vegetable or shrimp).
Nigiri: Individual pieces of fresh fish over rice, both cooked and uncooked varieties.
Sushi Rolls: A vast array of sushi rolls, including classic options like California, Alaska, Spicy Tuna, Philadelphia, Eel Avocado, and unique "Sakura Special Rolls" like the "Winchester Roll" or "Obama Roll." They also offer cooked rolls, vegetarian rolls, and hand rolls.
Sashimi: Sliced raw fish without rice (often available on the AYCE menu, sometimes with specific ordering limits to ensure fairness).
Tempura: Lightly battered and fried items, including vegetable tempura, shrimp tempura, and potentially other seafood options.
Noodle and Rice Dishes: While one review mentioned Yaki Udon being a bit bland, the menu often features various noodle dishes (like Soba or Udon) and fried rice options (vegetable, chicken, beef, shrimp).
Ice Cream: A sweet finish to your meal, often included as part of the AYCE offering.
A La Carte Ordering: For those who prefer not to do AYCE or have specific preferences, Sakura Japanese Restaurant also offers a comprehensive a la carte menu for all its dishes, including sushi, sashimi, kitchen entrees (Teriyaki, Katsu, Hibachi), and more.
Lunch Specials and Combos: They often have lunch specials, including sushi and sashimi lunch combos, and lunch entree specials (e.g., Teriyaki, Tempura) served with rice and soup/salad, providing great value for midday diners.
Dine-in and Take-out/Delivery: Customers can enjoy their meal in the restaurant's comfortable setting, or opt for convenient take-out and delivery services, with online ordering available.
Sakura Japanese Restaurant boasts several compelling features that make it a favorite among Massachusetts locals:
Unbeatable All-You-Can-Eat Sushi: This is by far the most celebrated feature. Customers consistently praise the value and extensive selection available on the AYCE menu, making it a go-to for sushi enthusiasts.
Freshly Made to Order: Unlike traditional buffets where food sits out, Sakura's AYCE model involves ordering from a menu, and dishes are prepared fresh upon order. This ensures optimal taste and quality, a significant advantage highlighted by patrons.
Reasonably Priced: Despite the made-to-order freshness and wide variety, the AYCE option is considered "reasonably priced," offering excellent value, especially for families or groups.
Kind and Competent Staff: The hostess and waitstaff receive high praise for being "kind and competent." Friendly and efficient service significantly enhances the dining experience, making customers feel welcomed and well-cared for.
Quick Food Delivery: Even with fresh preparation, food is noted to "come out very quickly," which is a plus for diners, allowing them to enjoy their meal without long waits.
Extensive AYCE Menu Inclusions: The fact that the AYCE menu extends beyond just sushi to include appetizers, nigiri, various rolls, hand rolls, tempura, and even ice cream, provides a comprehensive and satisfying culinary journey.
Pacing Control for AYCE: The ability to "order more than once to pace yourself" during the AYCE experience is a thoughtful feature that allows diners to enjoy their meal at their leisure and avoid feeling rushed or overwhelmed.
Family-Friendly Atmosphere: While not explicitly stated in provided reviews, the mention of family adoration and the nature of AYCE restaurants often suggest a welcoming environment for families, complete with diverse options to suit different ages and preferences.
While one review noted a "bland" Yaki Udon, the overall sentiment is overwhelmingly positive, with the strength of the AYCE sushi experience and service outweighing minor critiques.
Sakura Japanese Restaurant’s core appeal lies in its inherent value proposition, primarily through its All-You-Can-Eat (AYCE) sushi option. This format itself acts as a significant promotion, providing a fixed price for unlimited access to a wide array of fresh, made-to-order Japanese dishes, including sushi, appetizers, and dessert. This makes it a highly attractive offer for residents in Massachusetts looking for a fulfilling meal without budget surprises.
Beyond the AYCE model, Sakura also offers other value-oriented options:
Lunch Specials: They provide various "Lunch Entree Specials" available before 3:00 PM, featuring dishes like Chicken, Beef, Shrimp, Salmon, or Tofu Teriyaki served with rice and soup/salad at competitive prices. There are also "Lunch Roll Combinations" (e.g., any 2 or 3 rolls) that include miso soup.
Combo Meals: The menu lists several combination platters, such as "Sushi Lunch" (6 pieces sushi and 3 pieces California roll) or "Sashimi Lunch" (8 pieces assorted raw fish), offering curated selections at good value.
Additionally, based on public data, Sakura Japanese Restaurant has participated in external promotional platforms:
Restaurant.com: They have offered deals like "$5 Off Deal" with a minimum purchase, which can be redeemed via the mobile app or a printed certificate.
Valpak: As of June 2025, a Valpak coupon for "10% off any dine in or take out order" (cash only, cannot be combined with other offers) was available, valid until June 22, 2025. It is always wise to check current listings for any new or ongoing offers.

Sakura Japanese Restaurant Reviews
My Alaskan Maki was perfect, but the Yaki Udon was a bit bland. The food came out very quickly. I would like to come back to try the All-You-Can-Eat option.
Apr 20, 2025 · Emma HawthorneMy friends and I ADORE this place. Their unlimited/AYCE sushi is unbeatable and reasonably priced. You order off of a paper menu, writing down what you'd like, then they make everything fresh. The AYCE menu includes apps, nigiri, sushi, rolls, hand rolls, ice cream, tempura and probably other things I'm forgetting. The woman who hosts and waitresses is kind and competent. You can order more than once to pace yourself. My favorite place!!!
Oct 18, 2024 · Sarah JabensI love this place. The food is delicious and the owner and employees are super nice. We tried the chicken fried rice, the dumpling noodle soup, the beef noodles, the sweetheart deluxe roll and the bbq eel and cucumber roll and everything was amazing. Both the red bean and the green tea ice cream were superb as well. We definitely recommend having a meal here!
Feb 01, 2025 · Apex ImageryHad always driven by this place and we finally stopped in for sushi! They've got an all-you-can-eat sushi buffet (just order all the sushi you want) and they keep bringing it out. Would definitely recommend the Winchester, House Dragon, and Sweetheart sushi rolls.
Jul 15, 2024 · Matt GreilIs it the best sushi you will ever have? No, but it's REALLY good for the price and that's why - even after moving 40 minutes away - I make my way down to Sakura at least a few times a year. Dining in is the best experience. The dining area is cramped a bit, especially with a party of 4 or more and other patrons around, but it feels homey to me. I have eaten through all the rolls a couple times over by now and while I have my favorites, there isn't a bad choice.
