Sakura Sushi offers a comprehensive range of Japanese culinary delights, with a strong emphasis on fresh preparation and generous portions, especially through its highly popular all-you-can-eat model:
- All-You-Can-Eat (AYCE) Sushi: This is a core offering and a major draw for customers. Unlike a buffet, Sakura's AYCE allows patrons to order freshly made sushi, rolls, and other items directly from the kitchen, ensuring quality and minimizing waste. This service is celebrated for its value and the ability to try a wide variety of items. Pricing typically varies for lunch and dinner, and for weekdays versus weekends.
- Extensive Sushi and Special Roll Menu: Patrons can choose from a vast selection of classic rolls like California Roll, Spicy Tuna, Philly Roll, and Shrimp Tempura Roll. The "Special Roll" menu is particularly extensive, featuring creative and popular options such as the "Hairy Monkey" (a must-try according to reviews), Volcano Roll, Lucky Dragon Roll, Christmas Tree Roll, Rainbow Roll, and many more, often incorporating unique combinations of seafood, vegetables, and sauces. Nigiri and sashimi are also available, with options like Tuna, Salmon, Yellowtail, and Red Snapper.
- Kitchen Appetizers: A wide variety of hot appetizers are available, including favorites like Edamame, Gyoza (pork dumplings, steamed or fried), Shumai (shrimp dumplings, steamed or fried), Agedashi Tofu, Harumaki (Japanese spring rolls), Takoyaki, Fried Oysters, Mixed Veggies Tempura, Chicken Yakitori, Calamari Rings, and Fried Spider App (soft shell crab).
- Sushi Bar Appetizers: Beyond traditional rolls, the sushi bar offers unique appetizers such as Monkey Brain (deep-fried avocado stuffed with spicy tuna), Quail Egg Shooter, Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail, Tuna Tataki, Salmon Tataki, and Sashimi Appetizers (chef's choice).
- Teriyaki and Hibachi Entrees: For those seeking cooked Japanese dishes, Sakura Sushi provides a selection of Teriyaki entrees (Chicken, Steak, Salmon, Shrimp, Tofu) and Hibachi dinners (Vegetable, Chicken, Shrimp, Steak), typically served with soup, salad, and rice. Bento Box options are also available for a comprehensive meal.
- Noodles and Rice Dishes: The menu includes popular noodle dishes like Yakisoba (pan-fried noodles with various proteins), Udon, and a variety of Fried Rice options (Chicken, Beef, Shrimp, Seafood).
- Soups and Salads: Classic Japanese soups like Miso Soup and Clear Soup, along with a range of salads (House, Seaweed, Avocado, Spicy Crab, Squid), complement any meal.
- Dine-In and Takeout/Delivery: Sakura Sushi offers a comfortable dine-in experience, but also provides convenient takeout and delivery services through platforms like GrubHub, Seamless, and Uber Eats, making it easy to enjoy their food at home.
Sakura Sushi stands out in the Virginia Beach dining scene for several compelling reasons, making it a local favorite:
- Best All-You-Can-Eat Sushi in the Area: This is the most consistent and emphatic highlight. Patrons, including long-time residents, declare it the "best ayce sushi place in the area," often returning after trying competitors. The AYCE model allows for extensive sampling of their menu.
- Consistently Fresh Fish: Despite being an AYCE establishment, the "fish is always fresh," a critical factor for any sushi restaurant. This commitment to fresh ingredients ensures a high-quality dining experience.
- Huge Selection and Variety: Customers praise the vast choice available, stating "They have so much to choose from and something for everyone." This caters to diverse palates and allows for exploration of different rolls, appetizers, and cooked dishes.
- Generous Portions: Even within an AYCE framework, the portions are described as "plentiful," providing excellent value for the price.
- Attentive and Friendly Service: The staff, including servers and waiters, are consistently "attentive on keeping drinks filled and plates cleared," and are always "friendly." This contributes significantly to a positive dining experience. Diners are "always seated right away," even during busy times.
- Delicious and "Must-Try" Special Rolls: Specific rolls, like the "Hairy Monkey," are highlighted as being "fresh and delicious" and a "must-try," indicating unique and memorable menu items. Other popular choices include the Sakura Roll, Christmas Tree Roll, and Volcano Roll.
- Excellent Lunchtime Deals: The restaurant is a popular spot for lunch, partly due to the "lunchtime deals make it even better." This provides a more affordable way to experience their offerings and avoid peak hour crowds.
- Long-Standing Local Favorite: Many reviews mention being "coming here for years" and it being their "go-to spot for Japanese food 3 years ago," indicating a consistent quality that has maintained customer loyalty over time.
Sakura Sushi is well-known for its value-driven offerings, particularly through its all-you-can-eat model. While specific temporary promotions may vary, the following are consistently available or highly likely:
- All-You-Can-Eat (AYCE) Pricing: This is their primary special offer. The AYCE price typically ranges from around $25-$30 for lunch on weekdays and $35-$45 for dinner and weekends, offering unlimited fresh sushi, appetizers, and kitchen items for a fixed price. These prices are highly competitive for the quality and variety offered in Virginia Beach.
- Lunch Specials: As noted by customers, Sakura Sushi offers enticing "lunchtime deals." These often include discounted AYCE pricing during lunch hours or special combo menus for fixed prices, making it a great option for an affordable midday meal. For example, some online menus show lunch roll specials like "Any Two Roll Special" or "Any Three Roll Special" at reduced prices.
- Online Ordering Convenience: While not a direct discount, the ability to order online for carryout or delivery via platforms like GrubHub, Seamless, and Uber Eats adds significant value and convenience for locals.

Sakura Sushi Reviews
We have been coming here for years ever since moving to VB and it's the best ayce sushi place in the area. We have been to others and always come back here over others. They have so much to choose from and something for everyone and the price is well worth it. The fish is always fresh and the portions are plentiful. We are always seated right away and the servers/waiters are always attentive on keeping drinks filled and plates cleared.
May 09, 2025 · Kristal BiggioHere’s a polished restaurant review:This is our go-to spot for Japanese food 3 years ago and I'm goad nothing much has changed! The rolls are always fresh and delicious, and we especially love the Hairy Monkey—it’s a must-try. It can get pretty busy during peak hours, so we usually visit at lunchtime to avoid the crowds. Plus, the lunchtime deals make it even better. Highly recommend if you’re craving great sushi!
Jan 05, 2025 · Danica CMy daughter and I were wrapping up our last day of vacation in Chesapeake/Norfolk/Virginia Beach and we came here for lunch. For $17.95 you can't beat it. Our server was friendly, the sushi was good, and the place seemed pretty clean.
Mar 30, 2025 · ValerieGreat spot for consistently good sushi, been coming here for years! My only gripe is that they still have covid barriers up between booths, they are unsightly and diminish the otherwise nice decor. Still worth a visit though, I personally would recommend the Green Glass Roll, delicious!
Apr 02, 2025 · AmyAbsolutely FANTASTIC. My new favorite. Dinner all you can eat is $37. Free drink refills. You can takeout whatever you don’t eat, or order additional takeout to bring to a friend (like I did) at a charge.10/10 recommend
