Shabu Shabu house Introduce
For Californians with an appreciation for diverse culinary experiences, especially those seeking healthy and interactive dining, Shabu Shabu House in San Diego offers an authentic taste of traditional Japanese hot pot. This charming establishment specializes in shabu-shabu, a beloved Japanese dish where thinly sliced meats and fresh vegetables are cooked by the diner in a simmering broth right at their table. It’s an immersive and satisfying meal that encourages slowing down, savoring each bite, and enjoying the company of friends and family.
Shabu Shabu House is a dedicated Japanese restaurant focusing on the art of shabu-shabu. The name "shabu-shabu" is an onomatopoeia derived from the "swish-swish" sound made when ingredients are gently stirred in the hot pot. This dining style is not just about eating; it's about the process of cooking your own meal, piece by piece, to your desired doneness. Diners are presented with a selection of premium, thinly sliced meats (such as Wagyu round, Angus chuck eye, beef belly, pork belly, lamb shoulder, and chicken breast) and an abundant platter of fresh vegetables, including napa cabbage, bok choy, broccoli, tofu, and various mushrooms.
The communal nature of shabu-shabu makes it an excellent choice for social gatherings, promoting conversation and shared enjoyment around the steaming pot. At Shabu Shabu House, the emphasis is on fresh ingredients, flavorful broths (which can include options with a fragrant lemongrass aroma, as noted by patrons), and a light yet filling meal. It's a healthy alternative to many other dining options, allowing you to control what you eat and how it's cooked. The experience is both fun and educational for those new to this style of Japanese cuisine.

Shabu Shabu house Reviews
I recently visited a Japanese shabu-shabu restaurant with friends, and it was a unique experience focused on the cooking process. As someone who usually eats quickly, it was a great opportunity to slow down and enjoy the process . The restaurant is perfect for groups of two people, they only had one table for 4 people. It was my first time trying shabu-shabu, and I found it to be a fun learning experience. The food was light and healthy despite being quite filling. The variety of soups was a highlight, especially one with a distinct lemongrass aroma that brought back travel memories. I highly recommend it!
Feb 05, 2025 · Azadeh RFantastic spot. The small Japanese hot pot makes a great light and tasty lunch. Scoop broth into your bowl at the end with your noodle of choice for extra goodness. Don't worry about coming in if it's hot outside, they will have the AC on for you! Go for a medium hot pot for a big dinner.
Nov 10, 2024 · DCS aka DarkChibiShadow (DCS)We stopped by yesterday and pleasantly surprised. I’ve had Shabu before but not this place. It was flavorful. I can’t speak to auto since I’ve never been to Japan but this was pretty tasty. I had the AYCE #3 and spicy miso broth. When I return to SD, I plan to revisit. I’m an omnivore so I can’t speak to vegan/vegetarian options.

Everything was good from the broth, to the meats, to the choices. Also props to the guy who was working tonight with his one friend. Managing multiple customers at once and running back and forth bringing things out, he really did his best. We’ll be back soon. Mahalo!
