Shin-Sen-Gumi Hakata Ramen - Fountain Valley Reviews
Always yummy! I like the basic ramen bowl with pork and ordering extra noodles (ask for the extra noodles once you run out for freshness), then add some chili sauce and powder to your liking
March 01 · Wade GerardWe had lunch here and really enjoyed the food. The food was much better than I expected. My favorite is Dan Dan noodles. Service was great, attentive and friendly. There was no wait during lunch hours either. The restaurant also offered some discounted items on weekdays, such as $2.65 for draft Sapporo on Thursdays. We would come back!
April 09 · Thao LeThis place is the best ramen restaurant in my opinion. I have been patronizing this place for 14 years. They still serve exactly what they served 14 years ago. Amazing to see them keeping up their quality. Yes it is their craftsmanship that makes their ramen authentic. They are nice in service and doing honest business. They didn’t raise much the price of their signature ramens compared to other restaurants. I am very happy to have this place around my house and highly recommend this place. I am liking it even more because their prices are very humble in these day when I have to pay $14 for a pho, which is non-sense to me.
June 18 · Jaike LeePretty bad bowl of ramen. Not terrible...but not good. Noodles were overcooked and not fresh. Chasu was beyond chewy, dry and flavorless. Broth was extremely bland and disappointing. Tasted like it was from a package. Also had the gyoza which were TINY tiny, took almost 20 minutes to get to the table, were soaked in oil, had barely any filling, bland, lukewarm and had bits of gristle or tendon that I needed to spit out into my napkin. They were nice enough to give extra gyoza for how long they took to be served. But that didn't make up for the lack of quality. The only saving grace here was the service. Not exceptional, but up to par. First server helped me navigate the menu, the other checked on me after food was served. Paid the check and politely let them know how bad it was and that I won't be back. I really don't understand how this place gets such a good rating on their food. I guess people in Fountain Valley don't have discerning taste buds and look past it for the decent service. Not me.
April 20 · The Other DaveThe food was great, service is friendly. We enjoyed our ramen very much.Note that there was another restaurant in the back of the ramen shop, with almost same kind of name (the ramen shop is not clearly stated RAMEN in the name), which specializes in skewers. We initially wanted to try the skewer restaurant, but mistakenly ended up in the ramen shop.
