Shogun Japanese Restaurant Reviews
Everything was just so delicious. I'll definitely be coming back here. There are so many options on the menu that I want to try. Too bad it's on the other side of town or I would come more often. For four people we spent just over $100 before the tip so not too expensive. The Miso soup is delicious. I think my favorite sushi was the Tucson roll this time.
May 10, 2025 · Sonia GregrichI don’t know why it took me so long to write a review since i’ve been coming here for years, but this is my favorite sushi restaurant, not only in tucson but anywhere. Sushi portions are really great. Quality is 10/10 always fresh. They get their tuna from japan. Their ramen is the best in Tucson. The atmosphere here is on another level. I cant say enough good things about this place.
Apr 03, 2025 · Gustavo SerranoGreat prices, great food, wonderful service, laid back yet efficient staff, and they have at least four private booths. Kid friendly. Great selection of creative rolls! Could be a bit more clean but I am picky in that sense and I will be back for sure. It's not dirty, just popular and well-visited.
May 11, 2025 · LeeAnn CamposShogun Has Potential but Needs Modern UpdatesShogun offers a dining experience with both strengths and weaknesses. While the restaurant could benefit from modern upgrades and greater transparency about its policies, it does have some notable highlights worth mentioning.Pros:• Daily Sushi Roll Specials: Shogun offers great value with daily specials on sushi rolls. For example, menu items 1 through 5 are half off on Mondays• Las Vegas Roll & Sashimi: The Las Vegas roll is a standout item, and the sashimi, while made from farm-raised salmon, is fresh and enjoyable given the region’s limitations. For a desert location, the quality is commendable.• Good Value for Select Items: For what they have to work with, the sushi and sashimi quality is solid, and the specials make it more affordable for diners seeking a good deal.Cons:• Outdated Atmosphere: The space feels cramped and humid, with older décor that could use significant modernization to enhance the dining experience.• Restroom Facilities: While there are separate restrooms for men and women, each only has a single stall, often leading to inconvenient wait times.• Inconsistent Service Fees: While service fees were previously added to bills exceeding $100, this policy seems to be inconsistently applied, which may confuse diners.• Limited Spicy Ponzu Sauce: While their sauces are flavorful, the portions of spicy ponzu sauce are smaller than expected, which can be disappointing for fans of bold flavors.Overall Impression:Shogun has its strengths, particularly with its daily sushi roll specials and certain menu items, but there is room for improvement. With updates to its atmosphere, restroom facilities, and clearer service policies, it could offer a much better experience for its diners. For now, it’s a good spot for those looking for a deal or familiar with its quirks.
Dec 28, 2024 · MasterMind CriticFood has always been consistent and we're talking decades. I know I am NOT going to have a bad meal and I feel very confident bringing people here. If I lived closed I would certainly come here more.Service- today was good and other days have been too. This is basic service though, which is fine, doing the fundamentals, for some, is hard.Atmosphere- Not sure why sushi bars are all very much like this but, the front of the house often becomes dry storage. I'd love for places, as a whole, learn to not do this.
