With a smart ventilation system that sucks up smoke, you won't leave smelling like barbecue either! Shokunin is conveniently located at 952 60th St, Brooklyn, NY 11219, USA. This address places it in a bustling part of Brooklyn, easily accessible from various neighborhoods. While 60th Street might not be as widely known as some of Brooklyn's main avenues, it's situated in an area that offers good connectivity and a local, vibrant feel.
For those traveling by public transportation, Shokunin is well within reach. Several bus lines operate in the vicinity, with stops a short walk from the restaurant. Subway access is also feasible; the D and N lines have stations (like 8th Avenue or Fort Hamilton Parkway) that are a reasonable distance away, allowing for convenient travel from other parts of Brooklyn and even Manhattan. If you’re driving, street parking can be found in the surrounding blocks, though as with many popular areas in New York, it’s always wise to allow a little extra time to find a spot, especially during peak dining hours. The restaurant’s setting makes it a practical choice for locals seeking a quality dining experience without venturing too far from their community.

This interactive format is highly popular for its entertainment value and the ability to try a wide variety of items.

Vegetarian Options: The menu includes a variety of vegetarian options, ensuring that everyone can find something they love on the menu, catering to diverse dietary needs.
Shokunin stands out in the bustling Brooklyn dining scene due to several key features and highlights that consistently impress its patrons:
Extensive All-You-Can-Eat Selection: A major draw is the wide array of meats (including beef, pork, and lamb), fresh seafood (like shrimp, clams, and scallops), and vegetables available for grilling. This extensive choice ensures there's something to satisfy every palate.
High-Quality, Pre-Seasoned Meats: Customers rave about the quality of the meat, noting it is fresh and often pre-seasoned, making it flavorful even without additional sauces. Signature recommendations include Signature Beef Toro and Chuck Flap Tails Miso.
Fresh Sushi and Ready-to-Eat Items: Beyond the BBQ, Shokunin offers a good selection of sushi rolls and other prepared dishes, providing a well-rounded Japanese dining experience. This fusion aspect is a significant advantage.
Fast and Attentive Service: The staff at Shokunin is consistently praised for being fast, attentive, and prompt in addressing customer needs. Grills are changed quickly when dirty, enhancing the cleanliness and enjoyment of the BBQ experience.
Spacious Seating and Semi-Private Booths: The restaurant offers a comfortable and spacious dining environment, including semi-private booths that provide a sense of privacy. This makes it an excellent choice for family gatherings, group outings, or even a more intimate date night.
Effective Smoke Ventilation System: A practical highlight is the presence of chutes above each grill designed to suck up smoke and fire. This ensures a more comfortable dining experience, preventing guests from leaving the restaurant smelling like barbecue.
Good Value for Quality: Despite offering high-quality ingredients and excellent service, the AYCE dinner price (around $55 per person after tax + tip) is considered "very worth" it by customers, highlighting the exceptional value proposition.
Family-Friendly Pricing (Kids by Height): Shokunin offers differentiated pricing for children based on height, making it more accommodating and affordable for families dining with kids.
Recommended Specialties: Beyond the meats, popular side dishes and appetizers include Takoyaki, BBQ Eggplant & Corn, and Cheesy Corn, showcasing a diverse and delicious menu.
Shokunin provides excellent value primarily through its all-you-can-eat pricing structure, which is a major draw in itself. However, based on customer reviews and common practices for AYCE establishments, there are a few notable aspects regarding promotions and pricing:
All-You-Can-Eat Pricing: The core "promotion" is the AYCE model, allowing diners to enjoy a vast selection of BBQ meats, seafood, sushi, and appetizers for a fixed price. For dinner, this is reported to be around $55 per person after tax and tip, which customers find "very worth" the quality and variety.
Children's Pricing by Height: Shokunin offers a special pricing structure for children, where prices vary depending on the child's height. This is a significant benefit for families, as children below a certain height threshold are charged at a reduced rate, making it more affordable for family outings.
Lunch vs. Dinner Pricing: While specific lunch pricing isn't detailed in the provided information, it's common for AYCE Japanese BBQ restaurants to offer a slightly lower price point for their lunch AYCE menu compared to dinner, providing an excellent value opportunity during daytime hours. It would be advisable to call and confirm their current lunch rates.
Potential Group Upgrades: Some online mentions suggest that for larger groups, there might be options for a "free upgrade to a private room which includes free karaoke." While not explicitly confirmed in the direct reviews provided, this indicates a potential for added value for bigger parties, making it an ideal spot for celebrations.
For the most current pricing, specific details on children's height limits, or any unadvertised daily specials, it’s always best to contact Shokunin directly or visit their official website if available. The comprehensive AYCE offering itself is the primary value proposition, ensuring a satisfying and abundant meal.

Good selection of meats. I would recommend taking pictures of what you order and write the name on the meat so you can order those cuts again. We went with a big group and kids so prices vary depending on the children height. Anything above the limit will be adult prices. The cook selection was good. I do my best to stay away from rices.

Ready to eats and sushi rolls were good too!The service was fast & attentive, our grill got changed the moment it was dirty & our requests were promptly answered. There’s a chute above each grill to suck up the smoke/fire.If you like a certain dish, take a picture of it so you can reorder it, unless you know what cut it was.Dinner was around $55 per person after tax + tip, very worth for the quality, service, and selection!Suggestions:Signature Beef ToroChuck Flap Tails MisoTakoyakiBBQ Eggplant & Corn
Oct 07, 2024 · NicoleFantastic place for AYCE BBQ and sushi. Ive been here a handful of times already and it's always exceeded my expectations. My only gripe is the grill is a bit small so grilling enough at once can be a hassle, but I've only been here with a maximum of 4 people. Servers will sometimes come by and grill for you but the majority is up to you which is fine by me.Try the lamb chops, scallops and those blue crab sandwiches, they're all fantastic. But, it's really hard to go wrong with anything on the menu honestly.
Jul 03, 2024 · Daniel NeumannI like this spot. It’s a solid AYCE Japanese BBQ & Sushi. The meat is better than a lot of other places for the same price. The selection is great. I do think the sushi and some of the appetizers are a bit mediocre. A few of the seafood selections, like the oysters and shrimp, are also average.Service is average. Sometimes it’s good and sometimes it’s bad. Needs quality control.I’d definitely come here again just for the beef, lamb, and pork. I also love their sauces. And private party rooms with karaoke are available to reserve!
Aug 23, 2023 · Rachael WangThey actually have a wide variety of foods, for both carnivores and vegetarians. They change the grill frequently and they marinate their stuff quite well. Their signature marbled beef is yummy and some of their cooked foods are also great. Sometimes the staff looks a bit dead and doesn’t communicate super well.
