However, it is important for potential patrons to be aware of highly critical recent feedback for this specific location. One detailed review described an "unacceptable" dining experience with "truly disappointing" food. Specific issues cited included:
- Food Quality Concerns: "Spring rolls arrived soggy and smashed, with a lingering bad taste of oil," "clearly frozen and not properly crisped." "Fried rice was not fried at all—just white rice drenched in soy sauce... completely lacking the signature fried egg." The "Las Vegas roll was inedible—soggy tempura, zero flavor."
- Sushi Preparation Issues: Observation that the "itamae (sushi chef) lacked experience."
- Portioning & Ingredient Discrepancies: "Bowl was only half full when it should have been overflowing, especially since I paid for a large."
- Customer Service & Pricing Issues: Rude cashier, incorrect pricing given at the register compared to online app, and unwillingness to resolve issues.
- Cleanliness/Ambiance: The interior "felt dingy, resembling a rundown shack."
While one reviewer did state, "Overall it was a good meal" and "Potstickers were a hit," the significant negative review highlights potential inconsistencies that future customers should consider.

For residents of Scottsdale, Arizona, Sushi Brokers on N Scottsdale Rd presents itself as a suitable option for a casual dining experience, particularly for those seeking a diverse menu that extends beyond traditional sushi. Its primary appeal lies in its wide selection of rolls and non-sushi dishes, ensuring there's something for almost every palate in a group setting. The presence of a full bar with an extensive cocktail menu and, most notably, its highly popular and wide-ranging happy hour specials, make it an attractive spot for locals looking for value and a lively social atmosphere after work or on weekends. This is truly where it shines, offering accessible prices on both food and drinks that can be hard to beat in Scottsdale.
However, it is crucial for locals to approach this particular location with informed expectations. While one review indicates a "good meal" and highlights the "hit" potstickers, a detailed one-star review paints a starkly different picture, citing "the worst dining experience" with issues ranging from "soggy and smashed" spring rolls, "not fried at all" fried rice, "inedible" sushi (Las Vegas roll), perceived inexperience of the sushi chef, and problematic customer service. These inconsistencies in food quality and service, coupled with comments about the "dingy" interior, suggest that the experience can be highly variable. For those prioritizing a consistently high standard of Japanese cuisine and impeccable service, it might be wise to consider these very real concerns.
Ultimately, Sushi Brokers in Scottsdale offers convenience, variety, and a fantastic happy hour. Locals interested in taking advantage of these benefits, especially for drinks and specific popular appetizers, may find it a worthwhile stop. However, a full understanding of the recent mixed feedback is advisable for any resident planning a visit, especially if the primary focus is on the quality and authenticity of the sushi itself.

Sushi Brokers Reviews
Good sushi. This place has a good variety of rolls and they have a few dishes for non sushi lovers as well. They have a full bar with a bunch of cocktail choices. I wasn't a fan of the volcano chicken, all they did was put the chicken in Buffalo sauce which is just not a flavor I expected when coming to a sushi restaurant. Potstickers were a hit, so good. Overall it was a good meal.
Nov 14, 2024 · bryan debarbierisOne-Star Review for Sushi Brokers ScottsdaleI dined at Sushi Brokers Scottsdale on Tuesday, March 11th, and this was hands-down the worst dining experience I’ve had in a long time. The restaurant was busy as usual, but I was in the area waiting for a print job at FedEx and decided to give them another chance, despite a previous underwhelming visit.I ordered miso soup, a small fried rice (no meat), spring rolls, and a Las Vegas roll. The miso soup was the best part—everything else was a disaster. The spring rolls arrived soggy and smashed, with a lingering bad taste of oil. They were clearly frozen and not properly crisped. The fried rice was not fried at all—just white rice drenched in soy sauce, topped with cabbage and a few carrot chunks, completely lacking the signature fried egg.I watched the sushi being prepared and could tell the itamae (sushi chef) lacked experience. The Las Vegas roll was inedible—soggy tempura, zero flavor, just an overall disappointment. I ended up taking most of the food home but couldn’t even bring myself to eat it later. The only redeeming factor was my wonderful waitress, who I tipped 18% despite my usual rule against tipping when the food is this bad. She even offered to remove the spring rolls from my bill, but I didn’t want to make a scene. For over $50, I left hungry and completely dissatisfied. I was so disappointed that I even mentioned my awful experience at FedEx afterward. I will never return.
Mar 15, 2025 · Holly Paul-LandisMore licentious mastication...Open till 1am !!The food was amazing and the staff was super friendly, especiallyChris. He exudes the friendless of a brother!!I had the lollipop roll, the volcano chicken, mochi, and an absolutely delicious cold green tea.The lollipop roll hit all the right spots, with avocado multiple fish and a cucumber wrap. The roe topping was delicious. The volcano chicken, though delicious, was not my favorite. I think the Sriracha sauce was not quite to my particular taste. I would highly recommend Sushi Brokers and will definitely return!
Mar 02, 2025 · Matro ParrishOverall, I’m giving this spot a 5-stars for the consistency and value. However, I will echo what others mentioned in that, all the food seems to come out all at once and plates are not picked up from the table once done. It means a very busy table! Please, if you see this, consider bringing out soups and appetizers first, main entrees second, and dessert last. While I’ve been here a few times before, this particular visit, we got a mix of sushi rolls, chicken fried rice, veggie spring rolls, miso soup, and veggie tempura. We really enjoyed all of it. Aside from the table chaos of it all coming at once, we can’t think of any other recommendations/suggestion.Also, we visited during happy hour and the prices seem very fair for the portions we got. Love this spot for happy hour!If you choose to visit, I hope you enjoy!
Jun 03, 2024 · Scott FerreiraThe sushi is good. Borderline great, but barely. The pricing is too high for what you get. Strong bar area with good angles to watch TV. Restaurant staff are slothful and woebegone. The one in Arcadia is much better.
