Sushi By Bou - Times Square NYC is lauded for several distinctive features that contribute to its unique appeal, setting it apart in New York's competitive culinary scene.
Intimate Omakase Counter: The restaurant boasts an intimate, limited-seating sushi counter (typically 9-10 seats), which creates a highly personalized and engaging dining experience. Guests sit directly in front of the chefs, allowing for interaction and observation of the sushi-making artistry.
"Speakeasy" Vibe: Hidden behind a secret door adjacent to or within the Sanctuary Hotel, the ambiance exudes a modern speakeasy feel. This adds an element of discovery and exclusivity, enhancing the overall experience.

Engaging Chef Interaction: Customers consistently praise the staff, especially the chefs, for being fun, enjoyable to talk to, and accommodating. This direct interaction enhances the omakase experience, allowing diners to learn about the fish and preparation.
Lively and Laid-Back Atmosphere: Unlike some more formal omakase establishments, Sushi By Bou offers a more laid-back and chill vibe, complemented by a "graffiti aesthetic" that blends downtown edge with Midtown glamour, as described by some. This makes it perfect for a night out with friends or a relaxed date.

Sushi By Bou - Times Square NYC @ Sanctuary Hotel Reviews
It is insane and frankly I undeserved that I was able to get a reservation here day of; this place is so insanely good and at such a good price and I cannot recommend it enough! Food was incredible (of course) but the atmosphere was such a vibe and the staff, especially Chef Orby, were so fun and enjoyable to talk to too! This is absolutely a mandatory stop for me every time I'm in the city from now on.
May 27, 2025 · Anthony NguyenHad such a great time dinning here. The staff is very courteous and helped accommodate me after some issues with my reservation. This was my first omakase experience and so glad this one it. Unlike traditional omakase, the ambience and service here is more laid back and perfect if you’re on a night out looking to have a drink and chill vibes. Just note the space can be a bit tight and lack waiting space.Definitely recommend!
Nov 25, 2024 · Juan VeneroTruly an amazing time. D Razo (the captain) made us feel so welcomed and spoiled us. Every piece of sushi is perfectly crafted to be the perfect bite. Intimate, delicious and fun. Make sure to check out the speakeasy in the back for some throwback Japanese arcade vibes
Feb 01, 2025 · Javier GonzalezThe 17-course omakase in just one hour was definitely a different experience for the price. Fastest $400 meal we’ve ever had, with old-school rap playing in the background and a “Bad and Bougie” bandana for each of us—lol. The service was great, but since the waiter poured the sake for us, we had to wait each time for a refill.
Feb 20, 2025 · OanhThis place was so stinking good . It feels a little "underground" (which it actually is) because you get there with a little gated stairway to a basement spot that looks like you need a password to get in, but you don't. There are like 8 seats total around a chef table, with a couple seats against wall for waiting for your seating. Very small, but very cool. The Omakase was absolutely delicious, I wanted more of everything. Chefs did a great job with my gluten free requirements, I watched it all as they made it and my piece was separated when needed, with one or two adjustments when the dish had gluten (like I got a different piece when I couldn't do the salmon roe that was marinated in soy sauce). Truly fantastic food, would go back in a heartbeat.
