Sushi Day operates with a distinctive "self-serve" model, streamlining the process to focus on delivering fresh and flavorful sushi rolls efficiently. Here’s a breakdown of the services and menu items you can expect:
Self-Serve / Casual Dine-In: The restaurant operates as a "kind of a self-serve place." This means you typically "order at the counter, you find a seat and you do your thing." This casual approach is ideal for those seeking a quick and independent dining experience without constant table service. It creates a "peaceful" atmosphere suitable for "low-key lunches for one or two."
Focus on Sushi Rolls for Lunch: Sushi Day is highly regarded for its sushi rolls, particularly for the midday meal. Customers highlight trying their "sushi rolls for lunch" and appreciating them as a "quick lunch but still flavorful and traditional." This suggests a menu primarily centered around a variety of maki rolls.
Fresh and Flavorful Sushi: The core offering is sushi that "tastes good and it feels fresh." This commitment to fresh ingredients is crucial for a satisfying sushi experience. While specific roll types are not listed, typical offerings for lunch rolls would include:
Classic Rolls: Such as Tuna Roll, Salmon Roll, California Roll, Spicy Tuna Roll, and Vegetable Rolls.
Simple Special Rolls: Potentially some house special rolls with a few additional ingredients for enhanced flavor.
Takeout Service: Given its self-serve nature and focus on quick meals, takeout is undoubtedly a major service. This allows customers to easily grab their sushi rolls to enjoy elsewhere, whether back at the office or at a nearby park.
Efficiency: The "quick lunch" aspect implies efficient preparation, which is a key service for customers on a tight schedule.
It’s important to note that the provided reviews do not detail a full-service dinner menu with extensive Japanese entrees beyond sushi, or large hibachi offerings. The emphasis is clearly on straightforward, fresh sushi rolls for a casual and quick meal.
Sushi Day, while not aiming to be the most extravagant, boasts several distinct features and highlights that make it a cherished spot for its particular niche in Huntington:
Good Taste and Freshness of Sushi: This is a consistent positive. Despite being a casual spot, customers affirm that the "sushi tastes good and it feels fresh." This commitment to basic quality is paramount for any sushi establishment and is clearly met here.
Flavorful and Traditional Sushi Rolls: The focus on "flavorful and traditional" sushi rolls appeals to those who appreciate classic preparations without unnecessary frills. It's about getting satisfying, authentic sushi that hits the spot for a quick meal.
Low-Key, Peaceful, and Uncrowded Atmosphere: A major highlight for its target audience is the "lovely little corner" and how "peaceful it feels." It's explicitly stated as "not for crowds, just kind of low-key lunches for one or two." This makes it an ideal retreat for a quiet, undisturbed meal, a refreshing change from bustling, high-energy restaurants.
"Self-Serve" Convenience: The "self-serve place" model means a streamlined experience. You order, find a seat, and enjoy your meal without constant interruptions, perfect for those who prefer an independent dining style.
Ideal for Quick, Satisfying Lunches: The consistent mention of "quick lunch" highlights its efficiency. You can get a delicious and satisfying meal promptly, making it perfect for a workday break or a brief stop during errands.
Great for Solo Diners or Duos: The emphasis on "low-key lunches for one or two" indicates it's a perfect spot if you're dining alone, seeking solitude, or enjoying an intimate meal with just one other person.
It is important to acknowledge that there was one very strong negative review regarding alleged overcharging on tips and an unhelpful owner response. While this is a serious concern for that customer, other reviews focus on the positive aspects of the food and atmosphere. It's advisable for patrons to be mindful of their bills, as with any establishment. However, the consistent praise for the sushi's taste and freshness, combined with the unique, peaceful ambiance, remain the primary highlights for those who appreciate this particular style of dining.
Based on the provided customer reviews, Sushi Day does not explicitly mention traditional, advertised "promotions" or "special offers" in the way some restaurants might (e.g., happy hour deals, seasonal discounts, loyalty programs).
However, the restaurant's core offering serves as an inherent "special" for its target audience:
Consistent Value for a "Quick Lunch": The focus on "quick lunch but still flavorful and traditional" sushi rolls suggests a competitive pricing structure for its specific product. While one review described it as "a little over priced," another implies satisfaction with the cost for a good, fresh meal, especially compared to the price for the overall ambiance. The value lies in getting a satisfying, fresh sushi meal efficiently and peacefully.
Without further public information, we cannot detail specific, recurring promotions. For the most up-to-date information on pricing, menu items, or any potential unadvertised specials, it's always recommended to:
Call the restaurant directly: Use the phone number (631) 350-6223.
Visit in person: As it's a "self-serve place," any daily specials or current offers would likely be displayed on their menu boards or at the counter.
For many customers, the "special offer" of Sushi Day is simply the consistent delivery of fresh, good-tasting sushi in a peaceful, low-key setting that's perfect for a quick, satisfying lunch.

Sushi Day Reviews
His sushi tastes good and it feels fresh. HOWEVER, be very careful these guys are scammers. We have caught them putting in their own tip on the tab!! I was overcharged 7 dollars on tips even though I didn’t leave a tip. Be very careful. I told the owner and he started arguing with me and did nothing about it. Not going back.
Jan 30, 2025 · Dimma DvorovichThis is not the fanciest of sushi places, but I think it's a lovely little corner, and I hope it stays so. I have tried their sushi rolls for lunch -- you know, quick lunch but still flavorful and traditional -- and I keep returning. It's kind of a self-serve place. You order, you find a seat and you do your thing. They're not constantly catering to you, but I love how peaceful it feels and I usually leave satisfied with the food. This place is not for crowds, just kind of low-key lunches for one or two.
Aug 11, 2023 · Alvar CDidn’t get the Alaska roll I ordered got something else and it wasn’t good. Didn’t enjoy the Philadelphia roll either, it tasted off. Spicy tuna was average. Threw most of it out.
Feb 01, 2025 · Steve CI ordered the beef gyoza and the chicken fried rice. Both were super delicious and I already can’t wait to go back and order again! 10/10!
Jun 09, 2024 · V.SSushi Day is a newly opened restaurant in Huntington serving lunch and dinner. The menu features a selection of rolls, sashimi, soup, salad, noodles, as well as a small selection of entrees. Please be warned that Sushi Day is mostly for take-out orders, as the restaurant itself has extremely limited seating for a maximum of ~8 people. We went on a Monday afternoon at 1 pm for the lunch special. The bulgogi lunch box contained an assortment of items including miso soup, pickled vegetables, cabbage, gyoza, california roll, and the bulgogi itself. Everything tasted good, and the presentation was nice. After eating at Sushi Day, please stop at the Carvel next door for some ice cream~
