Amazing food and staff. Personally this was my first fine dining experience, and I’m happy that it was. Every dish was delicious, and really opened up my mind on trying out new food. Early on staff noticed that I’m left handed, and would position future utensils on my left to accommodate. To some, that may seem like a small detail. In my opinion however, that level of attention to detail is a testament to what makes this place such a unique, and unforgettable experience.

It is pricey, as it’s $425/pp plus 20% service charge (but no tios accepted). We had Chef Yohei Matsuki serving up our courses and it was a treat to watch him work. Note that you pay in advance when you make the booking online, but at the restaurant, you need to pay for the water ($10 per bottle of still Saratoga water) and drinks. Tea is refillable and is $5. We received so many courses and left feeling full. This is what we ate:- Japanese poke fish - a strong start. I added all the wasabi which may have been a mistake since it made me sneezy but the fish texture was very nice.- Japanese octopus - this had a nice yuzu wasabi to add. The meat was tender and warm.- Steamed egg chawanmushi with caviar and uni- Japanese bonito with homemade garlic sauce - this was my favorite piece. I really enjoyed the garlicky sauce.- Hokkaido herring with crab - the fish eggs popped as you bit into a mixture of crab and fish; my dad liked this one a lot.- Japanese ponzu tiger fish (note that you’re not supposed to eat the kombu) - this was warm and brothy with a bright flavor- Sea bream nigiri - this had a spritz of yuzu and a more firm texture.- Hokkaido fish (didn’t catch the name) marinated in soy sauce - very soft and yummy.- Japanese pike soup - this had some corn embedded and a bright plop of citrus flavor- Japanese mackerel nigiri - this comes from a city in Japan called Oita that is famous for its mackarel, as the mackarel mist swim against the currents and are very strong.- There was an option for add-ons ($50 each) of either abalone from the Chiba prefecture or a toro hand roll with caviar.- Japanese carafish nigiri - another firm piece of fish- Uni roll - this was delicious; Chef individually filled each seaweed roll meticulously- Tiger prawn nigiri - cut into halves, the chef showed us the prawns prior to preparing them. These were very fresh and from Japan as well.- Miso soup - umami broth with green onion- Japanese 9 day dry aged fish (missed this name too) nigiri - extremely tender with just the right amount of soy sauce- Bluefin tuna nigiri - this is a nice hefty portion; he zested you y onto the fish and it was lovely- 9 day aged toro nigiri - this came with a certificate; the tuna caught was 450 lbs caught in Hokkaido this was deliciously fatty and rich.- They gave us hojicha tea as a palate cleanser- Ocean perch nigiri from Japan; it was a lightly salted taste that was hearty- Unagi Nigiri with unagi sauce - the fish was super soft and was a great way to end the savory meal. The meat just melted in my mouth.- For dessert, we had a matcha custard with a gold-flecked azuki bean. It was delicious smooth and not too sweet. The matcha was delicate and well balanced.

I was impressed by the meticulous attention from start to finish with the guests, and it was impressive that they showed and explained each and every photo of the food on the course. After finishing the course meal, the extra caviar maki we ordered was absolutely superb. I recommend you to try it at least once. The only regret is that we don't accept alcoholic beverages to bring with you. If so, it would have been better if there were many kinds of alcoholic beverages to drink with the food, but that was the only regret. However, overall I was satisfied, and I had a great time thanks to the kindness of the staff.

Only two other parties were there and about 8 people in total. It was occasionally difficult to understand what fish we were being presented in the nigiri section but the host came around and would show you the picture of the fish and the name if requested.20 dishes in total including 2 optional add one. I always opt for the add on! The hand roll stuffed with uni and caviar and I forget what else is a must.Not sure why reviews say parking is hard or the restaurant is difficult to find. It’s very easy to find on the street though not ostentatiously labeled and there’s literally public parking two doors down.All and all very much worth the experience. At $400/pp I love that they don’t accept gratuity so that is actually including in your pp price. This meal overall was one of my less expensive 2 Michelin star experiences lol.

They are so proud of what they provide and all the fish are coming from Japan. Not only they are coming from Japan but also coming by first class over night shipping. They take care of their fish so well and I was so impressed when I ate.I’m so picky when it comes to Shari (rice) and yes! They use Akashari, which is red vinegar and rice. Their rice is sooo fluffy so you feel like you can eat a lot!I’m so so happy that I finally went there tonight! I’m hoping to come back soon and thank you again so much for everything!Ah btw, their desert was amazing too! The female chef makes the desert and we loved it!
