The menu at Sushi Kappo Tamura often features a course-based dining experience, allowing guests to sample a variety of expertly prepared dishes. While it leans towards the higher end of sushi restaurants, reviewers note that the "price and quality ratio here was quite reasonable," especially considering the typically higher price point for sushi in Seattle. This perception of value for a premium experience makes it an appealing choice for special occasions and moments when one is inclined to "splurge." The portions are generally considered "good," ensuring that guests "left feeling full," a crucial aspect of a satisfying dining experience. Beyond the raw offerings, the menu might also include grilled items, tempura, and other traditional Japanese dishes that showcase Chef Kitamura's culinary range.
A notable feature of Sushi Kappo Tamura is its extensive sake selection. The staff are highly knowledgeable and provide "great recommendations for the sake and food pairing." The helpfulness of the menu, which notes "dry and sweet levels" for sake, further enhances the dining experience, allowing patrons to confidently choose a sake that perfectly complements their meal. This emphasis on thoughtful pairings elevates the meal beyond mere sustenance, creating a harmonious and sophisticated culinary journey. This curated approach to beverages, much like a pharmacist recommending the right dosage, ensures an optimal and enjoyable experience.

The value proposition, where the "price and quality ratio here was quite reasonable" despite the higher price point, also serves as a persuasive argument for potential diners. While one reviewer might feel it's a "I'm glad I tried" place rather than a frequent haunt due to pricing, the overall positive sentiment and willingness to "look forward to visiting this restaurant again in the future" speak to a strong desire for repeat visits when the occasion arises. The emphasis on sustainability and local sourcing, though not explicitly mentioned in the reviews, is a key promotional point often highlighted by the restaurant itself, appealing to a growing segment of environmentally conscious diners. Sushi Kappo Tamura Reviews
Considering that sushi in Seattle tends to graviate toward a higher price-point, the price and quality ratio here was quite reasonble. We ordered a course and all the dishes, i.e. oysters, Bara Chiraashi, Sashimi were very fresh. The staff here were quite attentive and provided great recommendations for the sake and food pairing - it was quite helpful that the sake noted dry and sweet levels on the menu.I am looking forward to visiting this restaurant again in the future - though this is not a place to visit super frequently as it leans toward the higher end sushi. Overall, this place is great for special occasions and in seasons to splurge.
Apr 07, 2025 · Sophia KimWent here to celebrate my partner’s birthday. I think it’ll be a “I’m glad I tried” place - wouldn’t necessarily go out of my way to go back, but the ambiance, service, and the food were good. I agree with some of the other reviews saying it’s a little overpriced - I’m not sure what makes it stand out at the price point from the abundance of other sushi places in Seattle. Portions were good and we left feeling full.
Apr 28, 2025 · T ADining at Sushi Kappo Tamura was like being transported straight to Japan. The omakase experience was exceptional, with each piece of sushi showcasing impeccable freshness and artistry. Chef Taichi Kitamura not only prepared each dish with precision but also engaged us with stories behind the ingredients, making the evening both delicious and enlightening. The sake selection complemented the meal perfectly, enhancing the overall experience. If you’re seeking authentic Japanese cuisine in Seattle, this place is a must-visit.
May 01, 2025 · Ruben De AbreuA great place to have Japanese food. The food was excellent, the quality of the omakase is definitely worth the price!Came here for my birthday and booked weeks before for the Chef’s omakase, but apparently I was not notified that the seating will not be in the counter seat, which makes it less of the “omakase” experience itself. I ended up sitting in the regular table, since the counter seat was full so they couldn’t move my seat. I thought the counter seat was included as a part of my reservation, so I didn’t call them.I recommend to call them if you want the omakase to be served from the chef, right in front of you! It may also be available for first come first serve.
Jan 18, 2025 · JoannaWe celebrated my birthday on a Thursday night and had the chef’s omakase. Matt was our chef made our night very special. Everything tasted amazing, especially the seared toro with lemon and wasabi, and sweet shrimp with uni. It was amazing value, highly recommend!
