- Chef's Counter Experience: A key part of the omakase is the interactive experience at the 8-seat natural wood sushi bar, where guests can watch Chef Kevin and other skilled sushi chefs meticulously prepare each piece of sushi right in front of them.
- High-Quality Ingredients: The restaurant prides itself on using high-quality, meticulously sourced ingredients, often enhanced with unique sauces, toppings, and preparations (e.g., truffles, caviar, A5 Wagyu).

Sushi Lab - East Village stands out in New York City's competitive sushi scene due to several distinct features and highlights that consistently impress local diners:
- Top-Notch Omakase Experience: This is arguably its most significant highlight. Customers rave about it being their "favorite omakase in the city," citing the "incredibly flavorful" and "top notch quality" of each sushi piece. The experience is designed to be a "journey for the senses," blending traditional techniques with modern flair.
- Exceptional Value for Omakase: At price points like $65 for 12 courses and $100 for 15 courses, Sushi Lab - East Village offers an accessible entry point to high-quality omakase in NYC, a city where such experiences can often cost significantly more. Sushi Lab - East Village, as a high-quality omakase destination, primarily offers its value through the meticulously crafted dining experience rather than extensive public promotions. However, they do occasionally feature attractive deals that resonate well with New Yorkers. Most notably, they have been known to offer Buy One Get One (BOGO) omakase deals. These promotions are highly sought after and can make an already well-priced omakase experience even more accessible.
Reviews explicitly mention customers coming in for a "BOGO promotion," describing it as "SAVING MONEY with A TASTE OF HEAVEN!" Such deals indicate that while the standard omakase prices (e.g., $65 for 12 courses, $100 for 15 courses) are already considered good value for NYC, the restaurant does occasionally run limited-time offers to attract new diners and reward existing ones. Additionally, customers celebrating special occasions like birthdays have mentioned receiving "special 'birthday courses'," suggesting a personalized approach to guest appreciation.
For the most up-to-date information on any current promotions or special offers, New Yorkers should:
- Check reputable gift card sites like Giftly, where BOGO deals have been listed.
- Consult their official website or social media channels for direct announcements.
- Check popular reservation platforms like Resy or OpenTable, which may highlight ongoing specials.

Sushi Lab - East Village Reviews
NYC Local here. This is our favorite omakase in the city! We come here at least once a month now and have a great relationship with the staff. Cole is the best host, super fun and accommodating.Today we met Chef Kevin who was great to watch as he made each piece of sushi. Everything is so flavorful and the quality is top notch!!
Apr 14, 2025 · Dotan NegrinWe made a reservation and arrived a little. It was a very cold night. The place was small cozy and clean. The staff were very accommodating and patient. The food was average in taste and presentation. The prices were comparable to other omakase places. Next time, will try the rooftop location.
Feb 16, 2025 · s bIt was my first time trying omakase so I don’t really have a comparison but just by the price I would say that it is worth it. I don’t think you can find an omakase for this price in the tri state area. What you got is definitely worth the price you paid since we would have to compare apple to apple. The only thing I would say is that it is kind of not enough for me. We went to another dessert store next to it and had some dessert. It was worth for the experience, the taste and service but it don’t think it is a normal amount of meal for an adult so adjust your expectation on this part. Overall I definitely recommend this place if you wanted to try omakase for the first time.
Feb 12, 2025 · Alex wangFantastic omakase experience! Meticulously prepared dishes. Great flavor profiles. Amazing, seamless service and hospitality. We went for the 15 piece tasting menu, including all the high-end selections, and left extremely satisfied. Chatting with the other diners at the 9-seat counter, everyone was impressed and we all had a great time. Special shout-out to Cole for being such an amazing host! He really set the tone in the space and treated everyone like long-lost friends. Seriously can't wait to go back again.
Jun 19, 2024 · Jay HVery nice 15 course omakase for $100. Everything was quite nice, but you will prob be hungary after. The place is big for omakase so they preslice the fish which was a bit strange, but didnt impact quality or taste. It was also pretty noisy. Was here for my wifes bday, and they did a few special things, which was really nice.
