Sushi Palace Introduce
For Californians residing in the vibrant heart of Los Angeles, the search for the perfect sushi spot is an ongoing culinary adventure. Nestled on the iconic Melrose Avenue, Sushi Palace aims to offer a memorable Japanese dining experience. This establishment, located at 6535 Melrose Ave #102, Los Angeles, CA 90038, has garnered attention for its inviting atmosphere and certain standout dishes. While opinions on sushi quality can vary widely, Sushi Palace certainly offers a distinct ambiance and specific menu items that have left a positive impression on many local diners.
Many patrons describe Sushi Palace as having a warm and inviting ambiance, making it a suitable choice for a variety of occasions, from a romantic sushi date night to a relaxed meal with friends. The staff is often highlighted for being attentive, knowledgeable, and ready to offer recommendations tailored to individual preferences. However, like any dining spot, experiences can differ. While some rave about the freshness and presentation of the fish, particularly recommending the salmon pan-fried, others have expressed reservations about the flavor profile of certain sushi rolls and the consistency of promotions. Understanding these varied perspectives is key for any local user looking to explore their next Los Angeles sushi destination.
Sushi Palace is conveniently situated at 6535 Melrose Ave #102, Los Angeles, CA 90038, USA. This address places it squarely in the bustling and fashionable Melrose Avenue district, a well-known hub for dining, shopping, and entertainment in Los Angeles. For Californians, this location offers both advantages and considerations regarding accessibility.
Melrose Avenue itself is a major east-west thoroughfare, making the restaurant relatively easy to reach by car or ride-sharing services from various parts of Los Angeles, including Hollywood, West Hollywood, and the Miracle Mile area. Its presence within a commercial block, specifically suite #102, suggests it's part of a larger building or complex, common in urban settings.
However, it's crucial for locals to be aware of the parking situation. Public feedback indicates that parking can be inconvenient, with no free options readily available. The restaurant offers a valet service, but it comes at an additional cost of $15, which can add significantly to the overall expense of dining. For those planning a visit, considering ride-sharing, public transportation where feasible, or factoring in the valet cost is advisable. Despite the parking challenge, the vibrant energy of Melrose Avenue and the central location remain a draw for many looking to explore the area's diverse culinary scene. Always plan your commute accordingly when heading to this popular stretch of LA.

Cooked Dishes: Beyond raw fish, the menu includes cooked options. A standout recommendation from a customer is the "salmon pan-fried," described as a "most delicious surprise," indicating a strong performance in certain cooked preparations.
Attentive Staff and Recommendations: The service staff is noted for being attentive, knowledgeable, and willing to recommend dishes tailored to customer preferences, enhancing the personalized dining experience.
Happy Hour Promotion (with caveat): Sushi Palace advertises a Happy Hour promotion, typically from 5 PM to 8 PM. However, prospective diners should be aware that the availability of this promotion may be inconsistent, as one customer reported it was not honored on a particular visit. It is highly recommended to call ahead to confirm its availability.
Takeout Services: While not explicitly detailed, most modern restaurants, especially in urban areas, offer takeout for customer convenience. It’s advisable to call to confirm this service.
Valet Parking: For those driving, the restaurant provides valet parking, though it comes at an additional cost of $15, which is an important consideration for the overall dining expense.
Sushi Palace offers several notable features and highlights that contribute to its overall appeal, alongside certain aspects that potential diners should be aware of.
Warm and Inviting Ambiance: A consistent highlight from customer reviews is the restaurant's atmosphere. It's frequently described as "warm and inviting" and "pleasant," making it well-suited for a sushi date or a comfortable dining experience. This positive setting contributes significantly to the overall enjoyment of a visit.
Fresh Fish and Beautiful Presentation (for some dishes): For many, the freshness of the fish and the aesthetic presentation of the dishes are strong points. This suggests attention to detail in sourcing and plating, which is crucial for a quality sushi experience.
Highly Recommended Salmon Pan-Fried: A standout culinary highlight is the "salmon pan-fried." One reviewer specifically called it a "most delicious surprise," indicating that cooked items, particularly this dish, can be a definite draw and a pleasant alternative or addition to sushi rolls.
Attentive and Knowledgeable Staff: The service staff receives praise for being "attentive, knowledgeable, and happy to recommend dishes tailored to my preferences." This personalized service enhances the dining experience and helps customers navigate the menu effectively.
Reasonable Prices for Quality (Divergent Views): While one review states prices were "reasonable for the quality," another found the food quality did not justify the price, especially considering the added parking cost. This suggests that value perception might be subjective and depend on the specific dishes ordered.
Inconsistent Happy Hour Promotion: A notable point for potential diners is the reported inconsistency of the Happy Hour promotion (advertised 5-8 PM). Customers have been told it wasn't available on certain days, leading to frustration. It is highly recommended to call ahead to confirm any promotions.
Inconvenient and Costly Parking: Parking is a significant consideration, as there are "no free options available," and the valet service costs $15. This adds to the total dining expense and can be a deterrent for some.
Mixed Reviews on Sushi Roll Flavor: While individual fish quality is praised, some reviews indicate that the flavor of certain sushi rolls (e.g., Salmon Roll, Signature Roll, Red Devil Roll) can be "lackluster" or "underwhelming," suggesting a potential area for improvement or a need for diners to choose carefully.
Based on the provided information, Sushi Palace does advertise at least one significant promotion:
Happy Hour Promotion: Sushi Palace advertises a Happy Hour, typically running from 5 PM to 8 PM. This is a common and often sought-after feature for diners looking for value during off-peak or early evening hours. Happy Hour deals often include discounted appetizers, select rolls, or drink specials, making it an attractive option for a more budget-friendly sushi experience.
Important Note on Promotions:
While the Happy Hour is advertised, it's crucial for prospective customers to be aware of a reported inconsistency in its availability. One customer noted being told the promotion was "not available that day," despite it being within the advertised hours. This suggests that the Happy Hour might not be offered every day or could be subject to unannounced changes or exclusions.
Recommendation for Locals:
Given this feedback, it is highly recommended that any local planning to visit Sushi Palace specifically for the Happy Hour promotion should call ahead to confirm its availability on their intended day and time. This proactive step can help avoid potential frustration and ensure that expectations regarding pricing and deals are met.
As with many restaurants, additional promotions, such as lunch specials, seasonal offerings, or deals through third-party delivery apps (if they partner with any), might exist. However, without specific information, confirming directly with the restaurant is always the best approach for the most current promotional details.

For Californians, particularly those navigating the diverse culinary landscape of Los Angeles, Sushi Palace on Melrose Avenue offers a mix of appealing features that make it a suitable, albeit nuanced, option for local dining. Its location on Melrose Avenue provides a vibrant setting, easy to integrate into an evening out in this lively part of the city.
One of the key draws for locals is the inviting ambiance. In a city where dining experiences are often about more than just the food, a "warm and inviting" atmosphere, perfect for a "sushi date," holds significant appeal. The pleasant setting provides a comfortable backdrop for conversations and a relaxed meal, something many Angelenos value when choosing a restaurant.
Furthermore, the attentive and knowledgeable staff is a major plus. Being able to rely on staff recommendations and receive good, fast service can elevate a dining experience significantly. This level of service indicates a commitment to customer satisfaction, which resonates well with locals who appreciate being well-cared for.
From a culinary standpoint, while experiences with sushi rolls have been mixed, the strong positive feedback on the "salmon pan-fried" dish suggests that Sushi Palace excels in certain areas of its menu. For those who enjoy a variety of Japanese dishes beyond just raw sushi, or are looking for a reliable cooked option, this could be a standout choice. It highlights the restaurant's potential to surprise and delight with specific, well-executed dishes.
However, it's also important for locals to go in with informed expectations. The inconsistency of the Happy Hour promotion and the additional cost for parking ($15 valet) are factors to consider in the overall value proposition. By calling ahead to confirm promotions and being prepared for the parking situation, locals can mitigate potential frustrations and focus on enjoying the positive aspects, such as the ambiance, service, and standout dishes. Ultimately, Sushi Palace offers a unique experience on Melrose, making it a place worth considering for those who prioritize a pleasant setting and attentive service, and are open to exploring its diverse menu beyond just the raw sushi offerings.

Sushi Palace Reviews
Amazing Sushi Experience! My visit to Sushi palace was an absolute delight. From the moment I walked in, the ambiance was warm and inviting, perfect for a sushi date. The fish was fresh and beautifully presented. I recommend to order salmon pan-fried, it was most delicious surprise. The service was good and fast. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and happy to recommend dishes tailored to my preferences. Prices were reasonable for the quality. I’ll definitely be coming back and recommending it to friends.
Nov 16, 2024 · Anna BelovaI Restaurant Review: Disappointing Experience with Overpriced SushiWe ordered the Salmon Roll, Signature Roll, and Red Devil Roll, expecting a quality sushi experience. Unfortunately, all three fell short. The flavors were lackluster, and the overall taste was underwhelming. One of my friends even remarked that buying sushi from Costco would have been a better option—a clear sign that the quality did not meet expectations. The staff was friendly and accommodating, which was a positive aspect of our visit. However, the happy hour promotion (advertised from 5–8 PM) turned out to be unreliable—we were told it wasn’t available that day. This lack of consistency was frustrating, as promotions should be honored as advertised. The atmosphere was pleasant, making it a decent place to dine if you’re looking for a good setting. However, a good ambience alone doesn’t make up for the disappointing food.Parking is inconvenient, with no free options available. The valet service costs $15, which adds to the overall expense of dining here.Final Thoughts:While the ambience and service were decent, the food quality did not justify the price. With better sushi available elsewhere (even from retail stores, according to my friend), I wouldn’t recommend this place for sushi lovers. Additionally, the misleading happy hour deal and expensive parking only added to the frustration. If you decide to visit, call ahead to confirm promotions and be prepared for underwhelming sushi.Im not sure about restaurants make business long time this location.
Feb 16, 2025 · Nelson Ersan Dogan (NED)My husband and I visited Sushi Palace tonight, and we absolutely loved it. The ambiance was calm and elegant, and the staff was excellent—especially Aylin, who was very polite and attentive. We ordered the dampfnudel (German dumpling), miso soup, hamachi & salmon nigiri, scallop sashimi with pickled pumpkin, ceviche salad, spicy mango roll, red devil roll, black cod with miso, and cheesecake. The flavors, presentation, and attention to detail in each dish were truly delightful. The black cod with miso was heavenly—a unique taste of cod that was unlike anything we’ve had before. The mango roll was also outstanding, and the highlight of our evening was the cheesecake we ordered for dessert. It was beautifully decorated and so delicious that it brought a big smile to our faces. The drinks were fantastic as well, especially the Bubble Bath, which featured a lovely rose champagne with charming presentation. Everything was perfect!
Nov 14, 2024 · Sepideh RahmatiLiterally a perfect hidden gem. We hosted an exclusive dinner and everything was divine. The food, drinks, and hospitality. We will definitely be doing more dinner events. Thank you Sushi Palace. The ambiance is my fav!
Mar 28, 2025 · Devina SerpentineService was okay, server was friendly but that initial assistance to get our waters took a bit longer than one would expect usually.Ambiance was different, inviting, just a tad too bright, and fun. It was a bit slower/empty it seems. They had these three semi-booths that were very decorative. Those that love photos would have enjoyed that. It was strange that on a cooler night, they kept the front door open. So, it was kind of chilly throughout our dinner. Maybe that contributed to the colder feeling of the overall place. We got the drink that had the Tajín rim, forgot what it was called but it was tasty. There is no liquor, only wine and sake (didn't notice if there was beer, probably). The food was okay. They had different type of rolls that one doesn't usually see, so, that was cool; but it wasn't anything astounding.By 9:30 PM, my friend and I were the only ones left in there, so, we got out of there around then and went elsewhere.Don't see myself going back.
