If you're staying in a nearby hotel or a resident looking for fantastic sushi to enjoy at home, Sushi & Rolls is a pleasantly surprising find that delivers on flavor and value.
Sushi & Rolls specializes in providing hearty, satisfying sushi, with a particular emphasis on their rolls. It’s the kind of place where the focus is squarely on the food itself, making it an ideal choice for those who prefer excellent takeout over a sit-down dining experience. Despite some differing opinions on the dine-in vibe, the consistent praise for their "fat cuts of fish" and "super stacked" rolls speaks volumes about what truly drives their loyal customer base.

Its position near major roads makes it a straightforward destination whether you're coming from work, running errands, or specifically heading out for a sushi fix.
The restaurant’s location within a commercial area typically offers convenient parking, facilitating quick and easy pickups for takeout orders, which is a major draw for many of its customers. Its proximity to hotels also makes it a popular discovery for travelers looking for a local, quality meal.
Sushi & Rolls primarily caters to a takeout-focused clientele, emphasizing convenience and generous portions.
- Takeout/Carryout: This is their strongest suit. Many customers recommend ordering directly from their in-store "to go menus on the counter" for better pricing compared to online platforms. This highlights their emphasis on efficient and value-driven takeout.
- Delivery Service: Sushi & Rolls partners with major food delivery platforms like Grubhub, Seamless, Uber Eats, and DoorDash, allowing customers to have their sushi and other Japanese dishes delivered right to their doorstep for ultimate convenience.
- Dine-In (Limited Ambiance): While they do have a dine-in area, reviews suggest it has "almost no ambiance," implying it's a more casual or functional space rather than a place for a prolonged dining experience.
- Extensive Sushi & Roll Menu: They offer a very wide selection of sushi, sashimi, and rolls, including classic options like California Roll, Spicy Tuna Roll, and Philadelphia Roll, alongside "Cooked Special Rolls" and a vast array of "Raw Special Rolls." Noteworthy specific rolls include the "T.A.C. Roll" (Tuna, Avocado, Cucumber), "Novi Roll," "Michigan Roll," "Red Wing Roll," "Dragon Roll," "Rainbow Roll," and "Lion King Roll."
- Generous Fish Cuts: Customers rave about "some of the fattest cuts of fish in their rolls I have ever experienced," indicating a commitment to substantial portions of high-quality fish.
- Other Japanese Dishes: Beyond sushi, their menu includes appetizers like Edamame, Tuna Tataki, various Tempura (Shrimp, Vegetable, Soft Shell Crab), and Gyoza. They also offer a selection of noodle entrees such as Tempura Udon/Soba, Yakisoba, and Spicy Ramen, as well as dinner entrees like Chicken Katsu, Ton-Katsu, and Chirashi (assortment of sashimi over sushi rice). Korean options like Bibim-Bob and Korean Style Tofu Soup are also available.
- Lunch Specials: They offer "Lunch roll specials" which typically include 2-3 smaller rolls for an affordable price (e.g., under $15), providing excellent value for a midday meal.
Sushi & Rolls in Livonia has distinct features that make it a compelling choice for certain Michigan locals, particularly those focused on the food itself.
- "Fattest Cuts of Fish": This is arguably their most significant highlight. Customers are consistently "pleasantly surprised" by the incredibly generous portions of fish in their rolls, offering exceptional value and a satisfying eating experience.
- Amazing Takeout Value: While dine-in ambiance is minimal, the restaurant excels as a takeout option. Customers specifically advise ordering from the counter's "to go menus" to get lower prices than online, indicating a direct incentive for local, in-person takeout.
- Highly Recommended T.A.C. Roll: The T.A.C. (Tuna, Avocado, Cucumber) roll is singled out as "cheap and super stacked," with one customer planning to order "two or three of these" upon return, highlighting its value and deliciousness.
- Wide Variety of Rolls: The extensive selection of both regular and special rolls, including unique creations and cooked options, provides plenty of choices for diverse preferences.
- Good for Casual, No-Frills Sushi: For those who prioritize the food's quality and quantity over a fancy dining atmosphere, Sushi & Rolls is an "amazing" choice for takeout.
- Quick Service: While not explicitly detailed, the focus on takeout often implies efficient preparation times, allowing customers to get their food promptly.
Sushi & Rolls offers specific value propositions that serve as ongoing promotions for its Michigan customers.
- Lower Prices for In-Store Takeout: A key "tip" from a customer is to "go there and order from their to go menus on the counter to your right as you enter. The prices there are lower than ordering on their website for to-go." This is a significant direct incentive for local patrons.
- Lunch Roll Specials: They offer lunch specials that include combinations of 2-3 smaller rolls for an affordable price, often "under $15." This provides excellent value for a midday meal.
- Weekly Roll Specials: Some online menus indicate "Tuesday Special," "Wednesday Special," "Thursday Special," and "Friday Special" which feature specific combinations of their unique rolls at a set price (e.g., $26.20 for two rolls). There are also "Saturday and Sunday Special" options to choose two rolls.
- Value of the T.A.C. Roll: Highlighted as "cheap and super stacked," this particular roll effectively serves as an ongoing 'special' due to its perceived value and generous portions.

Sushi & Rolls Reviews
This place has literally some of the fattest cuts of fish in their rolls I have ever experienced. Staying in a hotel right around the corner and I stumbled upon them since they're close. So pleasantly surprised.Tip though: go there and order from their to go menus on the counter to your right as you enter. The prices there are lower than ordering on their website for to-go.The place itself has almost no ambiance, fwiw. But for take out, it's amazing.Get the T.A.C. roll. It's cheap and super stacked. I would two or three of these if I end up coming back.
Apr 12, 2025 · Jason PeineSpecial roll that I ordered was far from special. Also, much smaller than I’m used to, as was the sashimi. Only one of the staff members was pleasant while the rest seemed like they wanted to be elsewhere. Not a good vibe. They don’t serve alcohol so don’t plan on having sake or even a glass of wine with your meal. I’m almost always satisfied after a sushi dinner. No this time.
May 23, 2025 · Kyle NelsonWe've only ordered takeout but we love the sushi. My wife is from southern California and very particular about her sushi and we both love the sushi here, fresh, flavorful and it holds together well. The rice never seems old or dry like some places we've had, always nice and fresh.
Apr 19, 2025 · Daniel CarpenterIf you’re looking for “sushi” nearby just try them out. Good value and decent food; good service with limited seating but a lot better than the chain Chinese place across the street.
Dec 07, 2024 · Rahul SI recently ordered dinner from Sushi and Rolls in Livonia, and it was quite an experience! First up was the Tempura California Roll. It scored an 8/10 for me, perfectly crispy and flavorful. Then came the Cancun Roll, topped with mangoes that added a delightful balance of sweetness - a solid 9/10. The Dynamite Roll was another highlight; deep-fried to perfection, it was an absolute delight and also earned a 9/10.My husband tried the Bibim-Bob with Beef and loved it, giving it a 9/10. We also tried the Wednesday Special, which included the Las Vegas & American Dream rolls. Unfortunately, these were a bit of a letdown due to the excessive cream cheese, which overpowered the other flavors, leading to a score of 4/10. However, I believe that with less cream cheese, they could potentially reach a 7.The Miso Soup was good, earning an 8/10 - a comforting and tasty choice. The Octopus Nigiri was also enjoyable, deserving an 8/10. However, the Glass Noodles didn't quite hit the mark for me, scoring only a 3/10 as I didn't quite like them.Overall, I loved most of the dishes here at Sushi and Rolls. The quality and flavors were impressive, and I'm definitely planning to order again to try more of their offerings.
