I came to sushi seki for my first omakase experience and it did not disappoint! First, we got some appetizers and the fried chicken was very good, flavorful and tender. Then, the first omakase dish came out and I was stunned by the presentation, very pretty! That tuna was absolutely MIND-BLOWING! It was my first time having tuna that didn't taste fishy and it just melted in my mouth. Every single piece of sushi I had was so tasty, I couldn't stop smiling. On the next plate, my favorite was the oyster! It was so tasty and the seaweed added great flavor as well. On the next plate, I was scared to have their uni because of a past experience but it was actually sweet and very good! It made me realize I just didn't have quality sushi before. I really like the scallop nigiri as well and the hand roll was delicious! I was so full but needed to try their dessert and I was shocked that even the dessert was AMAZING. I almost ordered a second one, I believe it was a chocolate panna cotta. The service was great too, I have no complaints. Each piece was explained by the server and they made sure to accommodate our requests, each of us had different ones. They had a welcoming atmosphere as soon as we walked in. Overall, best experience I've ever had, the food was excellent. I've had omakase many times since then but sushi seki is still my number one choice, I'll be back again! - Anna

For New Yorkers seeking an extraordinary sushi experience, one that transcends the everyday, Sushi Seki on the Upper East Side stands as a beacon of culinary excellence. Situated on 1st Avenue, this acclaimed establishment has carved out a stellar reputation, particularly for its omakase offerings. It's a place where meticulous preparation, stunning presentation, and incredibly fresh ingredients converge to create a truly unforgettable dining journey.

Sushi Seki is renowned for elevating the sushi experience, transforming it into an art form. Diners are consistently amazed by the quality of the fish, with many describing the tuna as "mind-blowing" and so fresh it "melted in my mouth" without any hint of fishiness. This commitment to sourcing and preparing the highest quality seafood is a cornerstone of their philosophy. Every piece of sushi is crafted with precision, delivering a symphony of flavors that leaves a lasting impression.

Beyond the exquisite sushi, Sushi Seki offers a selection of equally impressive appetizers that set the tone for the meal. Their fried chicken, for instance, is often praised for being flavorful and tender, proving that the kitchen's expertise extends beyond raw fish. The omakase experience at Sushi Seki is particularly lauded for its beautiful presentation, with each dish arriving as a work of art, enhancing the overall sensory delight. Even typically challenging items like uni are transformed into sweet and delightful revelations, often converting past skeptics into newfound fans.

While the food consistently receives glowing reviews for its excellence and innovative combinations—such as a particularly tasty oyster with seaweed, or delightful scallop nigiri and hand rolls—the service experience can vary. Guests often speak highly of the initial welcome and the detailed explanations provided by servers for each omakase dish, appreciating the attentive and accommodating approach to individual requests. The welcoming atmosphere, as described by many, contributes significantly to what is often deemed the "best experience ever."

However, it's worth noting that some experiences, particularly later in the evening, have been less consistent regarding service. Despite these isolated instances, for many, Sushi Seki remains their top choice for omakase, a testament to the unparalleled quality of the food. It's a destination where the culinary artistry shines, making it a must-visit for those in New York looking for a truly premium sushi adventure.
