Specializing in Japanese-style shabu-shabu, this restaurant provides an interactive and customizable meal that emphasizes fresh ingredients and flavorful broths, allowing diners to control their intake and enjoy a wholesome, balanced meal.
Taichi Pot Shabu Shabu aims to deliver an authentic and satisfying hot pot experience. This method of cooking is inherently healthy, as it uses minimal oil and allows for the natural flavors of the ingredients to shine, making it a mindful dining choice that aligns with a "Doctor Near Me" approach to dietary health.
The atmosphere at Taichi Pot Shabu Shabu is designed to be welcoming and conducive to a comfortable dining experience. While specific decor details are not extensively highlighted in available reviews, the general consensus suggests a relaxed and casual environment. The design facilitates a communal yet personalized dining experience, where groups can engage in conversation while enjoying their meal. Some reviews imply a "chill vibe," suggesting it's a place where you can unwind and enjoy a meal without feeling rushed. The restaurant is noted for being busy, often implying a lively atmosphere. Taichi Pot Shabu Shabu offers a range of services and features that enhance the hot pot dining experience:
All-You-Can-Eat (AYCE) Options: A significant feature is their AYCE pricing model, offering different tiers, such as "Supreme" and "Ultra." The "Ultra" option, at a higher price point, includes premium meats like American Wagyu, Kurobuta Berkshire pork, Australian Lamb shoulder, and additional seafood and premium sides, providing a broader selection for those seeking a more luxurious experience. This AYCE model allows diners to fully explore the menu without worrying about portion sizes, promoting a sense of abundance and satisfaction.
Diverse Broth Selection: Taichi Pot Shabu Shabu offers a variety of broths to cater to different preferences. Popular options include Creamy Tonkatsu (with black garlic oil), Spicy Mala, Gyokai Tonkotsu Dashi, Kyoto White Miso Silk Dashi, Kanjuku Tomato Dashi, Kanto Style Sukiyaki, and Nagoya Spicy Red Miso Dashi. The ability to choose half-and-half broths allows for greater variety within a single meal. While one review noted that broths might lack flavor, others praise them as "very flavorful" and "extremely delicious," with the added benefit of being refilled with actual base broth, not just water, which enhances the consistency and taste.
Fresh Ingredients: Customer reviews consistently highlight the freshness of the meat and seafood. This emphasis on fresh, high-quality ingredients is crucial for shabu-shabu, where the natural taste of the components is paramount. The vegetable platter typically includes nappa cabbage, kabocha squash, fresh tofu, bok choy, shiitake, and baby corn, ensuring a balanced and nutritious meal. This focus on fresh ingredients resonates with the health-conscious choices one seeks when looking for a "Doctor Near Me" to guide dietary habits.
Dipping Sauces: Essential to the hot pot experience, the restaurant provides various dipping sauces, including ponzu and sesame oil, at the table. These sauces complement the cooked ingredients and allow for customization of flavor.
Efficient Ordering System: Diners are provided with laminated menus and dry-erase markers to select their choices of broth, meats, and sides. This simple and easy system allows for quick ordering of multiple rounds, typically allowing for 2 meats and up to 3 sides per person per round.
Customer Service: While one review mentioned a server forgetting a drink order, other reviews praise the service as "very good," "sweet and very attentive," and "constantly checking in." The staff are noted for being friendly and efficient, ensuring orders come out fast and that patrons feel welcomed. This attentive service contributes to a positive dining experience, similar to the personalized care expected from a "Doctor Near Me."
Reservation and Waitlist Features: The restaurant utilizes Yelp's waitlist feature, which allows customers to add their names remotely and plan their arrival, minimizing physical wait times. Reservations are also accepted, enhancing convenience.
Accessibility: Taichi Pot Shabu Shabu offers delivery through platforms like Uber Eats, Seamless, and Grubhub, expanding its reach beyond dine-in customers. They also accept credit cards, Apple Pay, and even cryptocurrency, demonstrating a modern approach to payment options. The restaurant is also noted as being wheelchair accessible.
The core of Taichi Pot Shabu Shabu鈥檚 appeal lies in its customizable hot pot experience, where the quality of the ingredients takes center stage:
Premium Meat Selection: The ability to choose between various meat options, from standard cuts in the "Supreme" package to American Wagyu and Kurobuta Berkshire pork in the "Ultra" package, allows diners to tailor their experience. The meat and seafood are consistently praised for their freshness.
Flavorful Broths: While individual preferences vary, broths like the Creamy Tonkatsu with black garlic oil and Spicy Mala are frequently highlighted as delicious and unique. The option to combine two different broths in one pot encourages exploration of flavors.
Fresh Vegetable Platter: A balanced meal is easily achieved with the accompanying vegetable platter, ensuring a good intake of greens and other healthy components.
Additional Menu Items: Beyond the build-your-own shabu-shabu, Taichi Pot also offers a selection of rice bowls and appetizers for those who might prefer a quick, pre-prepared meal or additional sides. These include items like Gyudon Beef Bowl, Curry Gyudon, Niku Udon Soup, Oyakodon, Chicken Katsu Curry, and appetizers like Edamame and Kimchi. This variety means that even if hot pot isn't your primary craving, there are other satisfying options available.
The interactive nature of cooking one's own meal, combined with the freshness of the ingredients, contributes to a perception of a healthy and engaging dining experience, much like actively participating in a health plan recommended by a "Doctor Near Me."
While specific, time-sensitive promotional offers are not detailed, the pricing structure for their AYCE options ($39 for Supreme, $45 for Ultra, with variations for lunch pricing like $36 for Supreme before 6:30 PM) itself acts as a value proposition. The "Ultra" option, with its premium inclusions for an additional $6, is often recommended by customers as a worthwhile upgrade.

Taichi Pot Shabu Shabu Reviews
Disappointing hotpot experience. At $41 per head, the meat selection was limited. The server forgot to take our order for drinks. She was friendly though. There were a few dipping sauces at the table, like ponzu and sesame oil. The broths lacked flavor.

May 26, 2025 路 Thoffy LiGreat meat quality here. Not pricey at all for an ayce place. I would definitely come back for the meat. Not a fan of the soup base tho. Service was very fast.
Mar 22, 2025 路 Justin ZhuLove when you can see and taste the quality!! 馃嵅馃ォ鉁ˊtaichipotshabu is hands down the BEST authentic Japanese shabu shabu in the Bay Area. Just look at the marbling on the meat and the richness of the broths. The best part, it鈥檚 AYCE! Service is amazing and they really make it feel like you鈥檙e having a comforting meal at home.
Nov 07, 2024 路 Monica HoangBeen coming here since late 2019 after finding online. Love this place and come atleast twice a month since then. The lady and young buff dude that have worked here have always been great. We usually like to order bulk from the start and add meat as we go. Black garlic oil has been my favorite soup base and no other spot has come close. Came in yesterday and noticed alot of new staff and happy for the older lady since she was usually working alone from 530 to 630 but mostly for slow days like Thursdays.Update:12/06/24Came in on a Friday after not coming for a few months. Menu looks different but similar and easy to navigate. Walked in 530pm on busy night told it would be 7pm but got called in at 6pm. Food was great as always and the servers were very good and attentative. Still our favorite place for hotpot.
